There are very few iron shops in Taiwan, and these hard work have no heirs.😩 Turns out it's the anvil, my pop says I'm going to be broken by the anvil!🤣🤣🤣

@@flyingmousefood interesting to know that this art of knife making is fading away.
The truth is knife making has never been so popular around the World...Men and women make them to sell in their own home shops.
There is even a tv show that has been on over 5 years devoted to amateurs making different blades from countries around the World...
I watch it all the time...
There is a very skilled knive making company here in Cambodia in Phnom Penh.
But, the secret these days is making very high end blades with amazing handles. ...and selling them for $150-$1000us each...
I have an incredible collection of such knives.
I told myself to STOP buying knives..
Yes, the old "Jeffrey, you could break an anvil" rings in my ears.....my name is Jeff to most...but, he called me my full name...ha ha..
So, no way you can break more than me...even though you look like you strong young lady.
Rainy season come to Cambodia...nice...3 tourists seasons with NO tourists because of covid..
People have no money....and prices going up...
      So sad..🙏🙏🙏

@@jeffmill999 There are fewer and fewer shops making Taiwanese knives, which seems to be a world-class trend, replacing human labor with machinery. It seems that the TV program you mentioned is very educational, and it can also encourage everyone to try to remember the craftsmanship of casting knives. Unfortunately, these are all motivated by interest, and it is still very difficult to really regard cast iron as a profession.
I'm fragile, not strong at all, and a crybaby lol.
The rainy season is really frustrating. As long as it rains, everyone can't do anything. I hope you guys can get through this rainy season as soon as possible.

I thought that I was watching " Forged in Fire" on the History Channel and I was expecting to hear Doug Marcaida say his now famous line: " This cleaver will Kill"...LOL !!!

Wow, I looked for it, and there really is a channel called "Forged in Fire". The way of shooting is amazing, and there is also slow motion!😲
Haha, every knife can... (I can't say that word). The owner said he had made katana swords before.😲

      如果我能早出生10年,肯定會把咱祖母的手藝學起來,
      她什麼都會,有些親戚開店賣小吃,當中的秘訣都是請教咱祖母的。

    這就是在火爐內工作,千錘百鍊只為一把刀,這行業幾乎都要二代-三代願意接手才能繼續傳承,也是沒落夕陽產業了。若能製成一把具有特別美感的藝術刀或許能吸引到收藏家高價收藏

    • @flyingmousefood

    都想著找有冷氣、有空調的地方待著;
    這行業辛苦,卻又民生必需品,
    打鐵未必只是菜刀,五花八門樣樣行。
