Rabbit is great, but very lean. The way we mostly cooked it was to sear the pieces and then "braise" it in gravy. But also on sticks over an open campfire. But you're too right: not popular anymore, just like frog legs. In fact, really large bullfrogs can be dressed out like a Cornish game hen.... Nostalgia.....
I made lamb leg once, did all the prep work, looked amazing, smelled amazing, super juicy, took one bite, "is that what gamey is?" Took another bite to be sure, yuck city! I was mad at Gordon Ramsay for making gamey sound like it was a good thing
When my children were young they wanted rabbits as pets We got 2 of them and they got cute names - Zack and Fluffy Built a couple of mobile enclosures for them and they spent lots of time outdoors with a protected run,I think that may be the reason they were so tough😂
I love rabbit. I often cook it low and slow as a stew with carrots, onions, mushrooms, lardons, rosemary and cider. Goes fantastically well with with a creamy polenta. Absolutely delicious...
My Houston nephew asked me what a rabbit is? I told him, a mythological creature, like the unicorn, that does not really exist, so don’t worry about it. He bought it hook, line and sinker.
Quarter and cook to 165. We love fried rabbit. Another great way is cream of mushroom gravy rabbit up to 165 temp and serve with wild rice. I think that temp is to hot for breast
I have been eating rabbit on occasion most of my life... as I am moving to a more rural area, a rabbit concern is my first choice for a stock animal! I don't like the smell of boiling chicken feathers!
My first introduction to rabbit ruined me. I've always been down for trying anything, but when they gave me rabbit sloppy joes... it made a horrific mark on my brain that no matter how many times I've tried it since... always brings up that horrendous memory.
I used to eat a lot of rabbit and squirrel when I was growing up and hunting with my grandfather. They are both delicious.
Awesome vid! We used to hunt and eat rabbit in the Midwest. Definitely worth finding again.

you can wrap it with bacon, too, like pheasant.
You for got it’s now very expensive if you have to buy it
Ava likes it too! - Easier than chasing and catching the rabbit. - lol
Hello to Jim from Canada! - Cheers!
The Navy served rabbit. I wasn't a big fan because it tasted "gamey". Maybe the brine helps tame the flavor.

My grandfather was breeding rabbits in the 1970s and for all bigger family dinners we had rabbit as a roast or as Wiener Schnitzel.

I'm always using the dutch oven for creating a good rabbit dish. But I'm gonna try your version as well!

So good!!!
Around my house we call them french hens, easier to get them to try before they make up their minds.
Another couple of forgotten foods Raoul, are pheasant and Canadian geese, those also deserve some attention ;)
Pheasant and goose is hardly available in the netherlands. Pheasant is extremely expensive as well
These rabbits are “Vlaamse reuzen”. Nice rabbits but so big that you MUST brine them with some vinegar otherwise they get very tough.

I heard just recently dog and cats are making a come back on the barbecue seen !

Gisteren hier op Kreta nog gegeten. Alleen de gebraden versie. Opgedient met een sinasappel saus in olijfolie
Grew up hunting rabbits and squirrels with my grandpa and dad.
I ate a lot of rabbit growing up. But neither my dad nor grandad cooked. That's why they had wives.
Doggo always wants more
Pet rabbit is like chicken, But Cotton tail isn't, and Jackrabbit damn sure isn't for BobleQ. Pet rabbit/ Easter Bunny rabbit is like Chicken.

Rabbit is hella expensive, at least in WA state it is.

What was wrong with it?
@@justinr9753 Probably more psychosomatic than anything. I was pretty young at the time and the thought of killing a rabbit seemed cruel at the time.

🙋🏻 Hey Pitmasterx‼️ 🇮🇹😉🍺
Not my favourite choice, I prefer to cook it in the pan, very slow & very low 😬🤷🏻
My daughter is gonna kill me if I serve rabbit
🍽🍽🍽👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💯💯💯
Those rabbits look really good. Have they been bled properly? I can't stand game food. 🤮
Rabbit (from a breeder, slaughtered) is not hare (hunted with a shotgun).
@@bernardsbbq Beautifull. Thanks for getting back to me and sharing your knowledge. Very much appreciated. I am a happy bunny!
