    I have a personal theory about the Ocarina of time. We know from Skyward Sword that timeshift stones don't have infinite energy and can run out if you use them too much. We also know that the goddess Hylia has incredible foresight and can develop plans 1000s of years in advance.
    So what if Zelda after SS created the ocarina and knew exactly how much timeshift stone energy it needed so that it would run out after OoT/MM when its purpose was complete. That way it's also possible that the ocarina from alttp is the ocarina of time, just without magic

      @@sleepykittyMMD She references multiple timelines in BoTW because it's so far in the future that either the other timelines never happened, and are just legends... OR, what I believe, the timelines somehow MERGED.
      I suppose it's "reasonable" to believe that she could have purposely done it, but she was just supposed to be Zelda, back when the game was out. She's had prophetic dreams, in multiple games, but always dealing with events soon to happen. It wasn't until Skyward Sword that there even was a Goddess Hylia, who was reborn AS Zelda, and could see across multiple timelines. Only after that game was it ever decided that she has "omnipotent powers," and she still doesn't; she only descended from a goddess. She doesn't show omnipotence in the game, or BoTW, that I can remember. Zelda almost definitely didn't anticipate that there would be anything like that, because the developers didn't even have the idea to split the timeline until after a good deal of Twilight Princess was complete

    It’s a good speculation. The Ocarina of Time would be considered a treasure to the royal family and a relic of the bravery of the Hero of Time, so I think it still exists. Hidden in the castle? No. I don’t think it would be there. If anywhere, I would peg it as being hidden in a chamber beneath the remains of the Temple of Time. Perhaps that’s why so many guardians were around it. Maybe Ganon sent them there to search. There had to be something significant about the ruins since it’s the only place on the Great Plateau where there are a large swath of guardians. I think they came up the ruined stairs, branched out to the ruins on the left where the shrine is located that must have also been significant to the temple and were going to scour the Temple of Time to find it. There are some ruins in Twilight Princess with chambers under them that are attached to the Temple of Time via the magic that keeps the Temple intact. Maybe that same magic would restore the Temple and ruins in BOTW and reveal the location of the Ocarina in one of those places. It seems like Twilight Princess utilized a version of the time stones without actually showing said stones. Anyway, yes, I believe it still exists in another form of time, and I believe it exists within the protection of the Temple of Time due to the large decaying guardian presence there when Link awakens.

    Honestly, I'm of the opinion that n the Child Timeline, the Ocarina of Time is instrument that Skull Kid plays in Twilight Princess: Given to him by his friend the Hero of Time as a token of friendship and to make sure it stays safe and doesn't fall into wrong hands.
    We know it changes shape to accommodate it's users (aka when Link changes into a Deku/Goron/Zora), so maybe it did the same thing happened to Skull Kid. After the events of MM, he became worthy of playing it!

    What about the "flute" in A Link to the Past? It's clearly an Ocarina, and it's blue. It may be the Ocarina of Time (likewise, the "duck" Link summons with it could very well be a Loftwing). Since it doesn't appear in A Link Between Worlds, perhaps Link returned it to the kid in the sacred grove after his adventure.
    As for the Child Timeline, my headcanon is right at the end of his life, Link gave the Ocarina of Time to Skullkid. Assuming Skullkids are functionally immortal, and he's pretty much chaos incarnate, that might be the best way to ensure no one else ever gets ahold of one of the keys to the Sacred Realm.

    • @beesmongeese2978
      @beesmongeese2978 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    • @elsiebartlett6808
      @elsiebartlett6808 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Supporting this would be that they play saria’s song on the ocarina while depicting the stump. The stump shows a drawing, clearly drawn by the same artist as the one of skull kid and the fairies on the log in termina field (I.e. skull kid himself). Skull kid also mentions, when finally dispossessed of Majora’s Mask, that Link looks like that kid who taught him the song in the woods. Not gonna get into it too much, but since Skull Kid in OoT needs link/the player to play that song in order to prove yourself, that means Saria herself taught him the song. So it would make sense that skull kid had the ocarina and was playing her song after drawing the image of himself and link on the stump. Great theory! Never thought of skull kid keeping the ocarina, but now I’m convinced, especially with him being something of a gate-keeper for TP Link

Basically, the Ocarina doesn't appear in most later games simply because it isn't needed and wouldn't fulfill any major role. Now THAT is something I can get behind. 😆😆😆
      I know I'm just some random loser on the internet, but since you bring up From, theres something sort of interesting about my experience with the games...
      but FR...don't bother unless you wanna read a long and probably really pointless story 🤣
      I never had an N64. I never played Ocarina (or any Zelda since) until... well... right now. Lol. Im playing it now. I had an Atari growing up, an NES around the time I turned 8, and a SNES sometime around 10 or 12 or so, and LttP was my favorite game for years and years. Around 14 I started playing guitar, and that kind of took over 100% of my time after that. I got back into gaming about ten years later, but in my 20's when I could only afford to get one system, I was more all about GTA, Silent Hill and Tony Hawk lmao. So I never played any of those Nintendo games. Early 2019 I got a Switch because I just HAD to play BotW, and absolutely loved it. This year I got myself a 3DS because enough was enough and I had some serious catching up to do 🤣 and the 3DS is only missing like, 4..or 5...Zelda games? Basically it's only missing Minish, WW, TP, and SS. And BotW obv.
      So... I was also really late to Dark Souls. I think I got it in 2013? But I totally sucked and couldn't progress for shit. It wasn't until 2018 when something clicked and suddenly I realized what the game wanted from me and I rocked right through it. ... in like a month. Lmao. I was totally taking my time with it though.... I loved it so gd much.
      Anyway, to make a long story very LONG, when I was playing Dark Souls I was like... what is so familiar about this? I'll be honest, 3 years later I'm still trying to put my finger on it (which is why I'm writing a big ass thing about it now), but yeah... it very very strongly felt EXACTLY like what was my favorite game of all time for so many years. Link to the Past.
      Not Ocarina. Because I never played it until long after DS.
      I really want to do a video series on Zelda, I'm always thinking about it... kind of in the style of King K or Matthewmatosis, but I'd want to take a more objective view on each game, because I don't really have the nostalgia other people do. Besides the first couple games obviously...
      I mean clearly I have a lot to say... lmao 😅
      But on the subjective side, I feel like LttP and Zelda 1 get a pretty bad rap here on youtube. I'm surprised how many Zelda fans are just outwardly hateful towards them. Which is insane to me. People talk about Ocarina still holding up by today's standards, but say the earlier games are unplayable. 🤣🙄 Like, come on...
      Anyway, sorry about rambling... thanks for giving me a chance to talk about some games I love for a while.
      I don't really have anyone to talk to anymore tbh. 😅 My only sister died at the end of 2018 and I think I'm going a bit mental. 😅

    Since you're talking about the Ocarina of Time, I wish to bring attention to the bootstrap paradox that is the Song of Storms in the game of OoT.
    Anybody who's played the game knows that you only learn the Song of Storms as an adult, because you teach the man inside the windmill the Song of Storms as a child, but you can only teach him that song as a child because he teaches to you as an adult.
    Now what I have recently come to realize, is that the Song of Storms is not a bootstrap paradox, because Link learns the Song of Storms in the land of Termina.
    Therefore after returning from Termina, Link would then go on to eventually teach the man inside the windmill the Song of Storms, who would then teach it to adult Link.

      That's a spooky implication because the man tells Link that the boy from seven years ago drained the town's water supply which we know Link does when going back to a kid in order to get the Lense of Truth and defeat the evils under the well, but if you say MM Link made sure to go back to teach the song to the man in order to introduce the loop, the location of this meeting would still have caused the water to drain out. So even if it was for the greater good (as Link didn't trust everything to be okay after Zelda sent him back and Ganondorf was sealed, he felt the song needed to be passed) it's why we see Kakariko Village as a dry canyon-like location in TP. If it actually has any connection at all to the old one that is.

    I have enjoyed playing all the Zelda games I got my hands on except the ones on the Wii. The motions controls killed my gameplay but I still enjoyed the games. Ocarina was definitely my favorite. Breath of the wild blew me away and Tears of the Kingdom convinced me that we can never go back. I have been playing video games since Pong. Would I love a remake of OOT. Yes. But looking forward to the next Switch Zelda which is years away. Great collaboration guys. I really enjoyed it.

    #10 A Link To The Past
    #9 Link’s Awakening
    #8 Twilight Princess
    #7 Minish Cap
    #6 A Link Between Worlds
    #5 TOTK
    #4 BOTW
    #3 Majora’s Mask
    #2 Wind Waker
    #1 Ocarina of Time
    Honorable Mention: Spirit Tracks
    OoT, WW, and MM are still considered the Holy Trinity of Zelda and always will be. As far as OoT goes if you look past the gameplay mechanics and controls(although for it’s time was amazing) you’ll understand that even today it still holds up as a timeless classic. It still by far has the best music and it’s not even close. It still has the most memorable characters, great dungeons, good story, excellent writing, excellent character development, deep lore, and also at times a sense of loneliness and mystery(like the graveyard, traveling through Hyrule field at night, bottom of the well, leaving friends behind, etc…) It is the ultimate story of courage, wisdom, power. A boy learning how to become a man. Epona is absolutely amazing and Lon Lon Ranch is a top 10 Zelda song of all time easily. Also, let’s not forget one of the greatest characters of all… Sheik.
    I never understand why people have Wind Waker so low on their all time lists. Wind Waker soundtrack is the only one EVER to come even remotely close to Ocarina of Time. It’s heavily known for its cheerful bright vibes but it actually has one of the deepest and darkest stories of the whole Zelda franchise. The story, lore, music, characters, side quests, companion, open world, traveling, and most of all the symbolism behind everything. It also has arguably the greatest version of Ganondorf. The Ganondorf in Wind Waker was the same Ganondorf that the Hero of Time sealed away in the Sacred Realm. It’s absolutely beautiful and I find it to be one of the most memorable Zelda experiences of all time.
    As a kid I didn’t necessarily enjoy Majora’s Mask because when I was younger I did not always understand what I was supposed to do or where I was supposed to go. However, as time passed on and as I started to get older, I started realizing just how special this game really is. The deepest, saddest, strangest, creepiest, and the most unique Zelda experience of all time and it’s absolutely amazing.

    @15:21 it is mentioned that the great hall is "blocked by rubble, along with the king's private quarters" and for whatever reason this instantly made me think of something....
    What if the kings quarters has some major spoiler content for BOTW2? Why else would they block off such a huge portion of the castle? It never made any sense to me.
    I believe that King Rhoam's quarters has details about the reemergence of Ganondorf (NOT ganon, they obviously knew nothing about Ganon and his calamity form until the fortune teller).
    I think the sheikah are either lying or being sneaky with us in BOTW. The monks were able to anticipate that Ganon would reemerge 10k years in the future and set up the shrines as a way to prep for him. How the hell would they not know about the ganondorf, the foe that is probably the most dangerous incantation of the demon king yet? The monks HAD to have known, they DEFINITELY let the royal family know (they were the right-hand people to the royal family, this would be the highest betryal if they didn't forewarn them, right?).
    If the royal family knew, do we really think that King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule would let Zelda and Link in on these highly private pieces of information? He didn't think the other sheikah artifacts were helpful and forebade Zelda from researching them. So, why would he think an ancient warning about Ganondorf's true form would be any more helpful?

    if the OOT is made of the same material as Timeshift Stones (likely), it would make sense that the destruction of all of them would be similar to the effects of deactivating a Timeshift Stone. The magic that was once controlling time is no longer present so it reverts back to it's original state which, in the case of the OOT, is going from 3 timelines back to 1 but at the current progress along all of them. (similar to how modifying the past with Timeshift Stones affects the future once deactivated)

  • @blinkin304

    this notion has been mentioned in other comments, but i would like to go more in depth -
    there is an example of a blue ocarina in the downfall timeline. it is in "A Link to the Past", and it is used to summon the bird for fast travel and is called the "flute" in game. beyond the visual similarity there is also the fact that while it rests buried in the grove where the boy would play for the animals, an echo of the boy haunts the grove playing his songs even though the real live version of the boy is trapped in the dark world, so the echo itself is unlikely to be the boy's spirit. as soon as you collect that Ocarina the echo fades away and never returns. this suggests that the Ocarina had somehow recorded the boy's past actions and was manifesting that recording directly into the physical world.
    then, the Ocarina is used to revive a bird in the town square that has been turned into or encased in stone. the existence of the echo and the ability to revive the stone bird suggest strong mystical powers that could be interpreted as time altering capabilities.

    • @elitegamer9310
      @elitegamer9310 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not how time travel works. When you travel through time, you can only head into the established past or the future your timeline is set on. What your suggesting is traveling to different realities like in A Link Between Worlds(Remember the primary difference in Lorule was that they destroyed their Triforce, leading it to branch off from the established timeline). I've never been a fan of this "reunified timeline" theory, because by that logic there would be 3 Links, 3 Zeldas, 3 Ganondorfs, and 3 Triforces, which would be an overabundance of power. It's just too absurd to ever be possible based on TLoZ's established lore.

    • @ShadowSkyX
      @ShadowSkyX 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The sheikah slate and ocarina both use teleportation and the pedestals are what makes it possible. Botw made me re-evaluate the older games and made me realize the advanced technology aspect has _always_ existed in the series. It just gets passed off as magic most of the time. I read a comment once that said magic is just technology too advanced to understand, and that seems to hold true for the zelda series. Botw is just the most upfront about it (Spirit tracks notwithstanding and link's awakening with the phones and warp panels).

    I'm really ready for a musical element to return to a main Zelda game. Breath of the Wild 2 would be fantastic with some kind of instrument or musical mechanic. It would be a nice return to some of the Zelda formula elements that was missing from the first one. It doesn't have to be the ocarina. Maybe a wooden flute of some sort since there is a lot of Japanese influence or a lyre or lute for more of the Western influences?

    Could this be another important detail? At 06:55 the Impa of Ocarina of Time says this: "My role in the princess's dream was to teach a melody to the one from the forest." And then proceeds to do exactly that, but not just any song, but specifically Zelda's Lullaby. This song played a crucial role during the events of Ocarina, where Link used it to raise and lower the water levels in the Water Temple (and it could do the same within the bottom of the well), start the boat ride in the Shadow Temple, as well as a method of getting into the Zora's Domain as child, where Lord Jabu-Jabu and Zora's Sapphire awaited. What did those triggers have in common? A clear and obvious Triforce symbol. Only the royal family and their allies could be aware of their existence, and Impa certainly was. Impa, you fulfilled that role perfectly!

    id like to think that the ocarina is out there somewhere still. I've kinda had this theory/wish for a while bubbling in my brain about how Nintendo could bring back iconic Zelda items and the former incarnations of Link & Zelda in BoTW 2 (in spirit form, like the Champions + the king in BoTW). I really want the different dungeons to each be themed around a specific Link and his respective game (but not too similar to the dungeons in that Link's game, just having aspects of it calling back to its source material. A cool way of doing this would be having the BoTW 2 dungeons be set in the ruins of the OG game's dungeons but having certain sections of its map be blocked off, if that makes any sense).
    At the end of beating each temple, you would be greeted by a former Link in spirit form and he would give a speech congratulating you/providing lore bits/hinting of what happened to him after the events of his games etc. Also alike to how the Champions act at the end of their Divine Beast, the former Link would conclude the dungeon by giving you one of the objects critical to their own quest that will also be very useful in yours (ex: the hook shot from TP Link, the Ocarina of Time from OoT, etc.) If Zelda's playable or partially playable at all, it would be cool to see a similar formula be replicate as she travels through dungeons and meets former Zeldas. Imagine a final boss where both BoTW 2 Link and Zel team up to beat Ganon with the whole cavalry on their sides!
    I think this would be an awesome nostalgia trip for veteran gamers but at the same time refreshing in BoTW's new setting and graphics.

      Agreed although OoT IMO should give the Hookshot since... well let's be honest I've already seen comments whining and complaining about how "Only the Hero of Time should get the Ocarina of Time!" and the Hookshot can both be useful (especially in an open world Zelda like BOTW and what it's sequel is likely gonna be) and you can get creative with it in an environment like this. The Windwaker on the other hand (I'd like to remind everyone that the Hero of the Winds EARNED his title by repairing the separated pieces of the Triforce of Courage as a hero so there was a point) would be a nice nod to the game of the same title, I mean between the Rafts from the first game that'll likely return that you could have an easier time deal with and the whole islands in the Sky thing it'd make sense! and for TP, well the Hookshot is just ONE item from one of my fav Zelda titles and... well between the Ball and Chain item, the Gale Boomerang, the Dominion Rod, AND that giant top you can ride and smash into enemies with, I think there are a fair few choices. I can already imagine BOTW Link sneaking up on a camp of Bokoblins in a full set of Sheikah armor sneaking up on them while it's raining and night time when.... HE SMASHES A BOKOBLIN'S FACE IN WITH THE BALL AND CHAIN! ROFL

    If it even still exists in ANY of the timelines after the OOT-MJ period, it's probably in some box in a hole in the ground, located where one of the many Hyrule Castles used to exist. And if the royal family took it with them every time they built a new castle, it's likely in some old royal vault, sitting in a box in the corner, gathering dust , maybe cracked/broken maybe not, like some old, half forgotten family heirloom or nickk-nack. Like an old China cabinet sitting in a self storage somewhere. and i don't buy a "convergent" timeline. Yes BOTW could take place in any of them. Personally, i think it's in the Majora/Twilight Princess far future.

    I kind of wonder if the Master Sword also has connections to the Time Shift Stones. We never learn much about the metal the Goddess cubes, chests, and crests are made of but the Goddess Sword could also be made of the same material. What if the metal is ultra refined Time Shift Stones? The Gates of Time look to be made of Goddess metal and they are explicitly made of Time Shift Stone.
    A lot of things would kind of fall into place if Goddess metal is Time Shift Metal. We also know that Time Shift Stones can power things and that could connect them to the blue Ancient Energy used by the Shiekah in BotW.
    It seems like the whole explanation of the series is bending towards the idea of time still being a significant part of the story. I still subscribe to the idea that Hylia is the Goddess of Time and that still seems to fit the direction the series is heading.

    I want to say that the Ocarina of Time is missing because we have seen that the Master Sword can’t even scratch the Timeshift Stones in Skyward Sword. The most the Master Sword does is trigger the Timeshift Stones to restore various mechanisms in the general vicinity of them within a certain radius of a circular room. The Ocarina of Time seems to be made of the same material and its range it probably a lot farther because it is designed to function based on certain sound waves the flute can make.

    1. it's not a huge story-breaking theory, but I think that AOC is canon, and it will be brought up, maybe on side missions. tok will take place a small while after botwBOTW, and long story short, all the races are in contact to rebuild Hyrule, etc., etc. and the new champions will have shared the events of aoc. 2. my theory with regards to where botw is on the timeline is that the goddesses merged the three timelines due to some event, as they found that flooding didn't work. (also, I agree with the theory that tp is a few generations down the line from oot, and he is a descendant of Link and Malon, which is why he knows Epona's song.)
