All night in Honolulu I was seeing purple lightning. I wonder if this was part of the reason? I mean, it was LIGHTNING. But, it was definitely purple also (by eye and camera). In some big fluffy clouds. No thunder.

I checked with NOAA's space observer explorer's data post this supposed CME and there was no chance this Aurora was visible from Hawaii. There was 0% probability even 2800 miles north of Hawaii.

I saw them only once, in Seattle, 24 years ago. In October 2003, the K index was 9, but there were no sightings in Hawaii. On Friday, tte K index was 8, and they were seen at South Point! Unfortunately I live in Hilo, where it was storming rain.
Oh, well - hopefully I'll see tgem when I vacation in Oregon this summer.
Just remember that it is the indigenous people of Norway, the Sami, who own the northern lights. So if you see it, it would be nice if you pay the fee to the Sami. The easiest way is to contact the Sami embassy in New York to book an appointment to pay the fee.

Greetings. Librarian here. In scientific language, one thing are "hypothesis," quite another "theories," which are a system of knowledge proved by careful observations and/or experiments. Saying something without proofs it's not scientific knowledge. Your claims, assuming you wrote an essay and sent it to a journal in the field, will not survive peer review. Even less when there is solid knowledge disproving them.
For example, earthquakes are caused by the movement of the tectonic plates, and the existence of the plates has been proved. Google it, is too long to explain here. And, as I said in another part, if Earth had changed orbit, *every astronomer on the planet would have noticed.*
Science is not saying "it seems to me, therefore is right." It is an excruciatingly long process of trying to prove yourself wrong again and again, and then to publish the particle of solid knowledge you obtained, and have first an editorial committee and then hundreds of colleagues trying to prove you wrong. If your work survives all of that, only then you can say, "I proved this."
It appears you are interested in sciences. I highly recommend you the channels PBS Eons, Be Smart, SciShow, and Crash Course. Also, there are multiple videos about how an academic paper is written.
Seriously, good luck. Some interesting discoveries have been made by regular citizens with formation in sciences.

Damage to electrical systems are pretty rare. There have been some large solar storms with lights visible in the southern US that didn't cause any problems.
so you can only see it with a fancy high end camera phone? guess that explains why i couldnt see anything.
I have an old phone and it did just fine. I am in Minnesota so easier to see, but just a phone camera is fine
