Although I really miss ISIS, I am ultimately glad in some respects that they decided to disband when they did. If they had ever released a sub-par record, their legacy would have been tarnished somewhat. They really did retire at their height as a band, so there is no way to ever become disappointed with them in the future. They're still my favorite band and I don't see that changing any time soon.
They supposed to play support before Tool on 26.06.2006 in Poland. And they never showed up. Back then I didn't know the band and I was happy that Tool is going to play sooner ;/ Ignorance is bliss.
Do you really think they retired at their height? As much as I loved their last two albums I think they are the weakest in their discography. With Oceanic and Panopticon being their peaks.
+mapinguarimonster If these guys weren't so far ahead of their time they would still be together I'm sure, they just landed in a hip hop, pop induced area of time that didn't see creativity the way we see it. That shit is all but over, but this is timeless.
How this song only has 141k views is beyond me. Music goes from hypnotic to crushing at points, as do the vocals. These guys deserved far more success than they had. Masterpiece.
the name ISIS isn't derogatory at all.some idiots with hardons full of sand go under the label ISIS.Just to be cheeky so to speak. great fucking song tho.this is nod- squad music
This group of musicians affected my life more than any other has or will. These are deliberate people, I quite trust their judgment, and I commend them for having the integrity to bow out as gracefully as they did. Witnessing The Arc of their musical Talent and progressing sound was a blessing.
This song and video to it is sweet! I'm learning this and 20 minutes/ 40 years on guitar. The more you jam out and play it, you can sense how much thought they put into this aspiring music.
It makes perfect sense to me. Godflesh ended for similar reasons, the sound they made was exhausted and they didn't feel comfortable pursuing new ideas within the existing structure as it may offend or confuse or just take the project beyond it's remit. I'm glad it means I get 2 great bands with 2 great sounds rather than one just retreading what they'd already completely mastered. Jesu is amazing by the way and Broadrick still pulls godflesh and the like out from time to time.
Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS) is a routing protocol designed to move information efficiently within a computer network, a group of physically connected computers or similar devices. It accomplishes this by determining the best route for data through a packet-switched network.
This song was the most perfect end to their career. If I recall correctly, it was their last recorded song together. It even sounds like an ending... the way the song wraps up... sounds perfectly how it should sound. R.I.P. ISIS. Thank you for the two shows where I saw you play your fucking hearts out.
I didn't know about this album until just now but I will soon own it! It's so refreshing to hear new Isis material that's veering more towards their heavier sludgier days.
Carried down yet another ghostly road Of a life already lived and faded Passing yet another broken man His life in burning iron ruins His void is the thoughtless wake of others A damaged eye, bleeding black and blurred As quick as it came The face is gone Three more in its place A war is on The other rises Shining in his violence His annihilation is my aim No blood is spilled Only smiles from his lips Twist his arm Bend them back, tie his legs in knots Bones should break, instead they bend To north, to south, to east and west Crush by my will Our war has bound him down In shackles of skin and bone "Beat him, bind him, fill his veins With the tranquil lead of night"
The music of Isis is hard to describe. It's like looking out over the ocean and watching a wave build and build and build until it finally creeps up closer to the shore and begins to crest. Then the crest finally builds up and all the force of the wave crashes down on a little kid and destroys his sand castle. Its soothing, gentle, and serene, but also raw, abrasive, and chaotic all at the same time.
Don Boscorelli Never did I expect Isis and Katatonia to be mentioned in the same sentence. Love, love, LOVE both bands. You got excellent taste in music.
ISIS needs a comeback. Their 2 most recent releases were their best, in my opinion. There is much to be said now. Aaron has a direct line to the collective unconscious
As much as it saddens me that they're done, I feel like they really did all they could with their sound. I feel like if they did another album it would've just fallen flat.
Their sound was continuously evolving so i disagree, the band have used this as their reason for splitting up but i really think it's because Aaron Turner didn't want to continue.
***** My thinking is that they were realizing that the development of the material lent itself better to a studio environment than a live environment. From all the videos I've watched, it doesn't seem like Aaron was ever super comfortable clean singing live, and you can tell the audiences were freaking out over the old stuff way more. But then you have songs like "Ghost Key" and "Holy Tears" which destroy live. I don't know, its tough to say. They were certainly getting more progressive, with songs like "Hand of the Host" and this track. I think they still had a lot left in them, but I can understand their argument. I just hope they get back together someday to play some shows for people who never got to see them.
As much as I want to agree with your argument, Isis disbanding has caused me an uncurable music depression. Sure there are other succesful bands in the genre that someone can listen to, like Cult of Luna. I know that cause people say it, but seriously I cannot understand how this works. I mean Isis was the closest I have heard to perfect songwriting. Not just about melodic guitar riffs and growls. Actual fucking song structure with tons of soul, causing emotion through relentless sound. Take In Fiction or So did we.. True musical sex. Foreplay , progressive build-up and climaxing always at the most suitable time. Fucking goosebumps even after hearing the songs for the 100th time. If someone can suggest something similar please DO. I just keep listening to them album after album on repeat wondering how did they manage to set the bar so high for me .
I really can empathize with this... Having only listened to Panopticon, Oceanic and In the Absence of Truth for about a year I too was left searching for more good "Post Metal" to extremely little avail. Unfortunately other music of the same genre never seems as cathartic or blissful as ISIS does. That being said other good and similar music DOES exist. If you are able to get into ISIS' older albums, bands like Cult of Luna, Burst, Omega Massif, Neurosis, the Melvins, Botch, Converge and Old Man Gloom will start becoming much more appealing - I would recommend The Mosquito Control EP or Celestial (Most ISIS fans are only familiar with their much later work). If the heavier sort of stuff really isn't for you maybe try out like Station by Russian Circles, Reflections of a Floating World by Elder, Pelican, Agonist by Latitudes, Kylesa, Callisto, Toundra, Khoma etc. Also go check out Post rock, man, bands like Mogwai, God is an Astronaut and Slint are soothing and easy to palette. Hope you find your way :)
I do feel like they could have done at least one more album. This, as well as Way Through Woven Branches, sound like they were another evolutionary step for Isis. Still, I'm glad we at least got these two, and Wavering Radiant was a fantastic end note. They knew their art.
I dunno, imho grey divide would have been at home on oceanic, woven branches on absence of truth and pliable foe on wavering radiant. Who knows :-) I'm sure they had another album in them either way really.
Proud to say I was at their last show in Montreal in June of 2010, and still listening to these guys in 2020. Is it too early to hope for a reunion tour?
Aaron Turner doesn't want to do Isis anymore and he's moved on years ago. Support him with Sumac and Old Man Gloom instead, that's the best thing you can do imho.
I couldn't, I just expressed my opinion. They are somewhat ""famous"band with lots of eyes on them.So I have that right. It may be wrong, but people tend to do these kinds of things. Anyway thanks for another opportunity to listen to them :)
@nikthedick123 dude i don't thik you are suposed to "understand" it....it's more of a abstract art/video thing just to go with the wibe of the music and it does perfectly...although you can get it or see it as you wish...
Hearing this song now makes me realize what they mean when they say they need to disband, because they've done what they wanted to do... I would shit my pants if they could top this.
I love this band so much. It broke my heart when they disbanded. And I think this song really showcases the breadth of their writing ability.
Greatest band ever
IN THE ABSENSE OF TRUTH WAS
THE BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME.❤
Best band ever existed. ISIS has been therapy for my soul the last couple of years.
+Joel Sully The problem is that we can't watch them in concert.
+RafireRocksNRules Yeah, that's true. I was never able to see them.

Music goes from hypnotic to crushing at points, as do the vocals.

Many things require time and maturity to be understood. Happy to have arrived soon.
One of the 12 Greatest Songs Ever Written About False Self.
I miss you guys.
the tribal beats will always be with me
thankyou
a special place.....
Isis always make me feel out of my body, it's beautiful how their music transmit something that I cannot explain.
This is a crucial group of musicians.
Ah, this is such a beautiful song to end their career with.
2024 is almost over and Isis is still firmly in my music collection.
This band changes my life every time I listen to them.
43 people disliked this, I pity you for not having the ability to appreciate this.
Finger slips sometimes dude I've done it by mistake but try not to
This group of musicians affected my life more than any other has or will.
These are deliberate people, I quite trust their judgment, and I commend them for having the integrity to bow out as gracefully as they did. Witnessing The Arc of their musical Talent and progressing sound was a blessing.
Cheers bruh...
Huge band. Huge song. Much love and respect. ❤

Incredible song. Truly one of the most amazing compositions ever.
I am going to see them live tomorrow
I wish they would get back together to do a tour, because I never had the chance to see them live.
yes, yes he is
Blessed to have caught them twice🤘🤘
Grateful they decided to release this song! Great addition to their catalog! Lookk forward to the the day for a reunion show!

Robert, Whyyyyyyy??? Lmao. That was ridiculous to say.
This song was the most perfect end to their career. If I recall correctly, it was their last recorded song together. Carried down yet another ghostly road
Of a life already lived and faded
Passing yet another broken man
His life in burning iron ruins
His void is the thoughtless wake of others
A damaged eye, bleeding black and blurred
As quick as it came
The face is gone
Three more in its place
A war is on
The other rises
Shining in his violence
His annihilation is my aim
No blood is spilled
Only smiles from his lips
Twist his arm
Bend them back, tie his legs in knots
Bones should break, instead they bend
To north, to south, to east and west
Crush by my will
Our war has bound him down
In shackles of skin and bone
"Beat him, bind him, fill his veins
With the tranquil lead of night"
Bruh...
Great job, i love the direction of the band.

perfect drumming, awesome group
Uuuuuuugh this is some of their very finest work. I miss them so much.
Still giving me chills in 2022.
Isis and Cult of Luna pretty much dominate everything else. Shouts to Pelican, Katatonia, and Novembre also.
Don Boscorelli Never did I expect Isis and Katatonia to be mentioned in the same sentence. Love, love, LOVE both bands. You got excellent taste in music.
@@DeadAccount97 Listen to "Way through woven branches" by ISIS at 3:32 and "Dissolving Bonds" by Katatonia and you''ll see universe allign...
Ufomammut
Alcest too
Really miss these dudes
Arguably their best song
there will never be a masterpiece like panopticon.thank you for experience....
Panopticon is touching the sublime. Go and listen to it now.
the whole song is excellent but that riff at 5:11 is the best part IMHO.
damn, that video made me miss them even more :,-(
this is a great and inspired song, we'll miss you
Life isn't the same knowing that this band will no longer create new music together
A quality over quantity band ty
ISIS needs a comeback. Their 2 most recent releases were their best, in my opinion. There is much to be said now. Aaron has a direct line to the collective unconscious
Half a year on repeat!
As much as it saddens me that they're done, I feel like they really did all they could with their sound. I feel like if they did another album it would've just fallen flat.

Grande música! Excelente banda.
Es una banda extraordinaria
Thank you for this gift.
This is my favorite song
Thank you for the post. 🖤❤️🖤
absolutely beautiful
Arguably yes. Inarguably a great song.
image at 1:05 made me think of the line from ghost key
"And there upon the ground the remnants of our struggle."
I always felt that this song could have been part of an album after Wavering Radiant. God I miss this band.
I do feel like they could have done at least one more album. This, as well as Way Through Woven Branches, sound like they were another evolutionary step for Isis.
Still, I'm glad we at least got these two, and Wavering Radiant was a fantastic end note. They knew their art.
This cam out after wavering radiant. Its the "newest" material they wrote
Sheer Brilliance!!
that-was-a-ma-zing!
Wow, this is great! Hopefully they'll get together some time in the future for at least one more album!
Amazing song!
I dunno, imho grey divide would have been at home on oceanic, woven branches on absence of truth and pliable foe on wavering radiant. Who knows :-) I'm sure they had another album in them either way really.
Temporal is great. No complaints here.
So euphoric...:)
I've been awaiting this.
Song is beautiful but video it's even better
This is from an old split with the Melvins? Really? It sounds so 'new' and even more mature than Wavering Radient. Bittersweet..
This is what music should be
True. And ever since that album they've been following other artists rather than their own instincts, to the detriment of their music.
that's perfect. awesome work >-
Proud to say I was at their last show in Montreal in June of 2010, and still listening to these guys in 2020. Is it too early to hope for a reunion tour?

Awesome!
The starting scene reminded me of Ride's - Nowhere album cover
this song is fucking perfect just everything is where it needs to be fucking amazing and perfection summed up in 7 minutes god damn I love this song
Love seeing same names from other isis vids in the comments. Keep the journey alive fam.
Reminds me of intronaut
I like it, very much !
What a great video to end on...or is it over?
TIGHT !
ofc, ; ) U mean TEMPORAL?
Sad though... been through many times with ises, and still will be ^^
I couldn't, I just expressed my opinion. They are somewhat ""famous"band with lots of eyes on them.So I have that right.
It may be wrong, but people tend to do these kinds of things.
Anyway thanks for another opportunity to listen to them :)
they did this is a not before released track from a split with the melvins
@nikthedick123 dude i don't thik you are suposed to "understand" it....it's more of a abstract art/video thing just to go with the wibe of the music and it does perfectly...although you can get it or see it as you wish...
The more abstract the better, it allows every listener the ability to make their own interpretation .
yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hearing this song now makes me realize what they mean when they say they need to disband, because they've done what they wanted to do... I would shit my pants if they could top this.
Merci
I do not understand how the human race is not embracing this song.
humanity is lost that´s why, just look up the music charts, it sickens me...
so fkn good
What gave you the right @ 5:45? Good Lord...
That's why my dog's name is Isis!
This video reminds me of Metal Gear Solid for some reason
5:46 wow
Oh you guys...I fucking love you!
I'm on the page with you now. Yeah, Metallica should've called it a day at least before Load.
I actually almost cried when I read that they broke up.
Cheers to all
I wanna be inside this song
Was this shot in New Zealand? It sure looks like New Zealand, especially the little river scene.
epic band
Isis Is Back :) After Soo Long time , Soon New TooL Album :)
