    THis is great informaiton, as a Recruiter for AWS this is the type if information I share with candidates on the importance of being prepared.

      Do you hire newly certified AWS candidates ? Or do we stay “ locked in” the jobs we have done shown on our resume. Example. I have not been able to GET OUT of my past jobs because employers want people who already have experience. This is practiced by nearly every employer and has left me STUCK, not allowing career change because I am never given the chance to gain the experience.

      You might want to check out the latest video where I specifically answer a few of these questions

      @@MelGetmanova my understanding of experience means going the extra mile to work on projects in your current company if there’s AWS being used there. If not, I believe the alternative route would be to get a part-time job where you can gain access to on the job training. Put yourself in the hiring company’s shoes, it’s very expensive to hire new employees and not a good business idea to hire people who can’t do the job. So what it takes to make yourself valuable.

    I think the best "I don't know the answer" is: "I have never had the opportunity to work with this service, but I would love to learn more about the functionality and how it can help customers" It's a truthful answer because SA's like to learn.

    • @WinTheCloud
      @WinTheCloud  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Couldn't agree more. No one expects you to know everything about every service, might as well be truthful, and demonstrate you're willing to do deep dives when necessary

      @@WinTheCloud I know its been a while but I have been seriously thinking of the SysOps Associate. I saw another AWS instructor suggest getting this one first because there are companies that have these kinds of roles available now. Then moving to Developer associate.

      Hey Mike, good luck for the SAA cert!
      AWS's job zero is Security, so you can expect a ton of questions around security through AWS's shared responsibility model for example. You can also expect questions around the 6 pillars of the Well Architected Framework: Operational Excellence, Security Pillar, Reliability Pillar, Performance Efficiancy Pillar, Cost Optimization Pillar. You can read more about them here aws.amazon.com/blogs/apn/the-6-pillars-of-the-aws-well-architected-framework/

I have AWS solution arch associate certification. However, I don't have any working experience. I applied for "Data Architect - Data Warehouse & MPP", Should I expect questions on AWS Services? Can you suggest if I need to focus on my data warehouse experience and prepare that? What should I expect?

I'm not an expert in Data myself but I wish you good luck! And please let me know how it went

      With 6 certs, I think you should be the one giving us advice haha but in all seriousness there are multiple positions in Amazon and AWS: from customer facing roles to pure technical.. I can't really cover them all but my plan is to invite someone to the channel so they represent their role and talk about how they got there, the required skills, certs, day to day job and stuff like that... • @WinTheCloud
      @WinTheCloud  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steven, I personally believe fundamental certs like those in Networking or Containers are very valuable. You will realize very quickly that all the managed cloud services are built on top of the same fundamental technologies such as OSI Model, ports, IP addresses, firewalls, routers, Linux distributions... Basically, what AWS and other cloud providers do is provide easy to use, scalable, secure wrappers around these technologies. btw, join us in the cloud community: win-the-cloud.circle.so/ we do a lot of activities around supporting each other in our cloud journeys ;)

    Very Informative video 👏🏾👏🏾, I have a few questions how did You land the interview? Did you apply online or did a recruiter reach out ?

    • @WinTheCloud
      @WinTheCloud  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Nyawirah, thanks for your questions! I think I applied at www.amazon.jobs/ you can find all Amazon and AWS related jobs posted right there. Linkedin is a great place to find and apply for AWS jobs as well. As for your second questions, hands on experience is really important to any SA, so my best advice would be to join a company that's already on the cloud whether as a developer or as a solutions architect for at least 6 months. This will give you the required hands-on experience and better prepare you for the interview. Btw, I'm uploading a video really soon where I interview my manager and we get into various questions about the hiring process and the day to day job of an SA, so make sure to subscribe in order to get it as soon as it goes live ;)

    Are there contract, 1099 jobs available for working as an AWS solutions architect? Are the majority of jobs with the AWS solutions architect certification mostly working for Amazon?

    • @WinTheCloud

      I haven't had contractors in my team, but I'm not sure I can answer this. All I can say is to check the website amazon.jobs/ for jobs where you work for Amazon/AWS

    Maybe a stupid question.. But do all AWS SA work directly for Amazon and thus have to go to a Amazon interview?

    • @WinTheCloud
      @WinTheCloud  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was an AWS SA working for various companies well before I joined AWS. an AWS SA is just an SA who specializes in the AWS ecosystem

    So you mention whiteboarding is critical. Does AWS make use of solutions like Lucid Chart or Mural?
    I ask as I am being interviewed next week, but have both Dysgraphia + Arthritis (fun times), so it looks like a chicken held a pen in its beak while running across a whiteboard.
    The tech allows me to get my point across without understanding my unique version of scrawl. However, if this has not been adopted at a company or client level, it is useless in this instance.
