You never know what you'll find at the thrift store! Any favorite pieces or upcycling successes you've had with thrift finds? Happy happy sewing and creating to you! 🌻
I was gifted an Oriental grey silk dress that has to be dry cleaned , not sure if the cleaners can get the stains out , I can always use it as a pattern
Ahh, I love thrifting and yard sailing. I found some incredible jewelry on my hunts. A vintage diamond necklace from the 70’s. Gorgeous Lapis jewelry too. Also I love buying way oversized dresses in hardly worn beautiful fabrics and using it as yardage for a top or even a sundress. I too have done some remakes on things I’ve made in the past. Even though I’ve been sewing for 20 years. Enjoy the making and hunting and creating! ❤️
Sounds like some incredible finds you have had! It is so much fun to go on the hunt and wind up with some really amazing pieces. Love the idea of purchasing dresses for the unique fabric! Those remakes seem to be a great way to revisit an old piece to up level it 😊or switch it up to better suit you! Happy sewing and creating to you 🌷🪡🧵
Oh My Goodness, so happy for you and jealous!!! Sounds like a great experience!!🥰 Love a good thrift experience! Thank you for sharing! Love your finds and ideas🤩
I've been restructuring things lately. Last month my closet imploded on me. The shelf and rod all fell down on top of me around 11pm. I couldn't believe it. I climbed out from under it and went to bed. Spent about a week with clothes all over the condo while I converted it to a two rod on my side of the walk-in. Since then I've been forcing myself to wear older makes or redoing them. It's no wonder it all collapsed. There was way too much on that one rod and shelf. The thing is even if I'm not wearing it I'm still "in-like" with most of it. Even there's more than a few "what was I thinking" pieces.
So relatable! I loved reading this and just the other day really started going through my closet to figure out what needs to be reworked, given away, and brought to the front so that I actually wear it. Thank you for sharing and happy restructuring!😁
My early makes aren’t worth redoing because I bought cheap or the wrong fabric! I heard that meant thrift stores don’t even bother putting out the obviously homemade clothes but it definitely was a learning experience. I put so much time in them that’s what hurts!
