I can't deny that it looks so much better as an after than it did before, the texture has made such a difference. The cut has to be something that Lucas is happy with, and he clearly is, but I can't help think his features would really suit a much shorter cut to the back and sides so that it is all above the neck line, leading into a full 'mop' of hair on top where it would have the volume and bounce. It would be a drastic change to his appearance but I do think it he would carry it off really well.
Shorter sides are pain in the ass to grow back tho. Also of course everyone has their own personal preference but i am really not a fan of ''shorter sides'' trend. Everybody looks the same.
@@Isus24-s8etotally agree with that. Such short sides is a cop out, rather than discovering what the client is really wanting, which this gentleman did.
It looks much worse, not better. He would look daft with short hair - a long head and large features would overpower it completely.

I feel for you. I’ve gone to the same hair cutter for over ten years, not on a regular basis any more, but when I decide my hair needs a good trim, in all the time I’ve gone to her she gave me a cut and style that I really loved ONE time! 😐

Love this! It's a nice cut that can still be casual, but still looks cared for. It's a great comprise from his before hair and the way he was originally going to have it blunt cut. This is SO much better!

The consultation kinda felt like an intervention at times lol, like let's not get too crazy getting rid of that much hair, but it was worth it in the end. This style is very early to mid 90's, kinda deliberately messy, Lucas could go in front of the camera anytime with his new haircut 👍

Gorgeous guy. So happy to see you use that styling razor for more than texturing. It's a great tool. Could have done the whole cut with it. I use it 60% of the time.
Anybody else notice how long that guys eyelashes were? I'm SO jealous. I'm glad he stuck with the long cut because he has very strong features and he can carry off that long look.

Still a good length but with added body and texture, great job Dan, a lesser stylist might have cut it too short but you knew exactly what he was trying to put across.

Somehow you get all the good looking fellows come in for haircuts! I loved his hair because even if it looked straight, the thickness showed it would be malleable (shapable) because of it's dense nature, especially with the textured cut you gave it :). Well he looks totally sexy and handsome with this "new" hair! Love the new "movement" that it has, no longer a thick straight affair, but much more interest and movement.
I bet he loves the feel of it, and the look. What a great haircut for this marvelous hair! He looks so fine!

Your consultation is amazing. You asked some very important questions that really gave insight to what Lucas really wanted and why. I wish he had been willing to go with a shorter more textured cut. He has an awesome jawline and movement in his hair. He does not have "straight" hair like he thinks he has. You would have been able to work wonders giving him a shorter cut with more movement. Maybe later he will be willing to give a new style a try. Dan you are amazing! Not only do you have wonderful skill, but also the ability to see what would work on your client, hear what they want, and execute it. Even though I'm a woman and not in the business, I love watching your channel.

Cookie cutter? Just because he does a horseshoe doesn't mean he is doing the same cut. He just uses that to simplify his process for putting in the primary shape. He saved the guy from himself because he obviously knows more about hair than his client.
You did what he wanted.
I appreciate anyone who will spend the time to find out what you need done to your hair and who has good suggestions. I have really thick, coarse hair and plenty of it! I wear it short and really need a good cut. I have struggled for years to find a good stylist.
The "Negotiation" part is especially fascinating. I'm not sure Lucas really got what he wanted, because he has one of those brains that struggles with decisions and limiting his options. I think that is why he went longer. In reality, taking the risk on a shorter style would have been much more transformative and more satisfying. Dan did a great job, like always, but I don't think the outcome was really that good because of the indecision of the client.
I disagree, the outcome was great. The finish was like Kurdt Cobains but a bit longer. Iconic look in 90s and still inconic.
You can see the client's face go from hopeful, with a slight smile, to one of having given up, and no smile. He knew he had nowhere to go from there. I believe it was all the razor-cutting and thinning of the hair that broke his spirit.
If any, longer where the hair touch the shoulder would be even better. Any shorter than that is a waste! Dan was right to be conservative in cutting his hair.
I was actually hoping for a bit shorter, with more layers/texture. Yet it turned out UNIQUE, as well as so much MORE MOVEMENT than I expected, he surprised me with this cut, as he ALWAYS DOES... :).
