As frustrated as she was, you'd think she could rattle off more than just the time where something weird happened to their bank account. Not enough detail about HOW the money got messed up in their account..
She doesn’t feel good that money is leaving out of her control. Maybe it’s a superstition that if you don’t have an emergency fund, no emergencies will pop up. It seems like preparing for emergencies always makes ppl worried because they think about it. Unless your life is extremely well planned, emergencies will pop up.
I wish Dave were here for this one. He wouldn't have put up with her not answering the questions being asked and being all over the place. Still love all these guys though!
I think this woman is frustrated that every time they get a little saved up something pops up that drains their account. I can relate to this... it seems like every time I get my savings up to about $20k either some major repair needs done to my house or one of my cars needs fixed or replaced or my wife gets slapped with some big medical expense that knocks my savings back down again.... and I can always earn it back but it seems like when I get back up to that $20k plateau it gets knocked right back down... but if you don't have that money saved away then you don't have anything to cover these emergencies... but it is frustrating when they keep popping back up just like clockwork
although I don't have near the debt she has... at the rate I'm going I'll be debt free in the next 5 years with my house and car paid off.... then I'll worry more aboout getting my savings past that $20k plateau I have
Victoria Heindel yep, my comment is way late but, that’s what I think, too. But, I will say this. I do think that it can be difficult to make the transition between having an emergency fund and confusing that with your net worth, which may have been difficult to save. Although it may actually be part of your net worth, you have to be willing to let it go and be content with the fact that you had it, in the event of an emergency and may have to build it back up again. I can say that for someone like myself, who does not like to have to do anything twice, it’s not easy. But, I also know that I have to look at the relief it brings, when I have an emergency expense and I don’t have to pop a vein because of it. I am extra appreciative as, I have no family so, I am my own backup.
The lady is all over the place she is the poster child for someone who needs the baby steps. She is overwhelmed by the forest she needs to concentrate on cutting down one tree at a time.
There's something seriously wrong with this lady. She is making completely illogical statements. She seems to blame the emergency fund for emergencies occurring. 80% of their income goes away in debt? Say what!?
I understand her feelings BUT thats what an emergency fund is for!! they need a different savings account if they want to have a savings that keep on growing. But most importantly they need to list all the things that you consider emergencies so that when something comes up you can either add it on the emergency list or consider it a non emergency!!!
She has no idea where her money is going! A bank does not just put a charge on the checking acct without good reason. Are they following a budget on paper on purpose before the month begins? I can tell you where our money went this summer-we had a large tree removed from our yard($1200), had a new stainless range put in our kitchen ($1200), new Kohler toilet ($200), new outside faucets on exterior($200). This woman could NOT articulate, too confused, should have written down the emergencies...Our work was not emergencies but planned jobs.
I did create an emergency fund. The only emergency I had it's to buy several emergency lights for my home. Because I one day we didn't have power. We lost power twice. I didn't want to stay all the time in the dark. It's crazy what people do not understand. It's not a store or shoes account!
+CollegeGirl You're likely to also when you're a little older and have worked hard to gain the respect due you. One of the reasons that women STILL don't earn what men do for doing the same job is that they let employers get away with this sort of disrespect. Death by a thousand cuts.
+Betsy J. Miller It's not a term of disrespect. In fact it's usually a term of effection. I hear women say it to women. "Oh honey I know". It's used more in the south. But it's not disrespectful. It's just slang
+Josh Knab It IS disrespectful. No one--much less an employer--would call a man "Honey." Young women need to be taught that older women worked HARD and paid high personal and professional prices for stopping this sort of inappropriate stuff in American work places. Besides being insulting and patronizing, it leads to (some) men believing that even worse behavior is acceptable. Affection's great--at home.
She’s so disorganized it’s ridiculous. She doesn’t even know what these emergencies are. The problem is things, things and more things. Nothing specific
This reminds me a Friend who I gave my copy of Dave's book.. He read it then his wife read it.. It became a battle ground for a year on what the other one was doing wrong.. They make a lot more than my wife and I but for some reason we have a lot more. My friends reasoning is because I live out in the country we don't have a water , sewerage or trash pick up bill.. But we live 10 miles one way the main road lol Spend a little more on fuel/auto expenses/
60 OR 16 unfortunately, it’s like my husband and me. He makes a whole lot more but I have a whole lot more saved. He doesn’t want to follow the plan and it’s like pulling teeth 🦷. The only thing I make sure he pays is the extra principal on the mortgage because I don’t want to hear it. He will make minimum payments on his credit card bills but get upset when my bills are being paid off like crazy. We are suppose to be doing this together but the thought of not being able to purchase unnecessary things drives him crazy.
I would have to call this as a fail for Dave's crew. First of all they did not find out anything about her income or expenses and what expenses they were. She didn't tell any information on what she is spending this money on as emergency's. Sounds like her emergencies should be in the budget. You can't end the being in debt if you don't want to. How does Dave say it, you have to give each dollar a name.
Without sounding too judgmental, what she's saying sounds like "We can't handle large amounts of money, so we shouldn't HAVE large amounts of money". Sounds to me like every time they get their act together somewhat, they look at that big ol' pile of cash that they piled up and go "well now we got some money and we can spend it". She doesn't really sound like she's gonna clean her act up either. So sad.
It may only be $2,000 in savings before it gets used, but people who don't have that savings end up using a credit card. Your emergencies shouldn't be coming out of nowhere. You should be prepared. That's what your emergency fund is for. Also, when you're paying off debt, you should be stopping at $1,000 and just paying off debt as fast as you can. They need to make some major cuts to their lifestyle if they ever want to get out of this. It sounds like after 10% and paying the minimum, they feel free to spend the rest on whatever they want. Cut the eating out, cable, cut the Netflix, cut the Hulu, from now on, your entertainment is basic internet and TH-cam videos. You're not throwing birthday parties, you're not taking a vacation, even for a day, and you're not buying name brand anymore. If all your meals have to be top ramen or microwave taquitos, you freaking do it.
Reiden Lightman honestly $1,000 is not enough. There is a whole lot of information missing. They are probably still eating out and shopping for things they don’t need. The only emergencies I could possibly think of is the car breaking down and a medical situation.
Whats her issue really? Ughh need dave’s tough love here. Stop whining and be an adult. Ugh. If u were complaining about medical bills or car troubles i’d get it but WHATS THE ISSUE?
+The Dude I think it's wise to have these callers on. They NEED to hear from Dave and Chris & Co. They need more accountability & to get back on track. :)
She is blaming the emergency fund for causing her emergencies....
Yeah she says saving isn’t worth it because they keep needing it. She doesn’t realize they would be in more debt if they hadn’t saved.
it's also suspicious she couldn't produce a single example.
As frustrated as she was, you'd think she could rattle off more than just the time where something weird happened to their bank account. Not enough detail about HOW the money got messed up in their account..
So she doesn't like spending her savings so she's going to stop saving. What would they have done if those savings weren't there in the first place..?
+Azaria Bell Probably wasted it. At least this way she is spending it on something worth spending on.
+RiechMarshall Nimitz of course, but then what? She still need to cover whatever emergency that popped up...
Oneofakind yea but what if she wasted the money on a TV and then an emergency popped up?
Azaria Bell hi
She doesn’t feel good that money is leaving out of her control. Maybe it’s a superstition that if you don’t have an emergency fund, no emergencies will pop up. It seems like preparing for emergencies always makes ppl worried because they think about it. Unless your life is extremely well planned, emergencies will pop up.
She literally kept telling them NOTHING but generalizations...no actual facts or hard figures. How did they even have any answer for her?
It's hard to believe she had emergency if she can't even remember 1 thing???
I don't know if it's so much she doesn't remember. She may not necessarily want to say what the things were or how much.
chrisgast Yea cause all these "emergencies" probably happened at the mall
Chris B The drug epidemic is real and people can’t admit it
Right
I wish Dave were here for this one. He wouldn't have put up with her not answering the questions being asked and being all over the place. Still love all these guys though!
OMG!! answer a question will ya!!
I commend the gentlemen for the way they handled that phone call. They could barely get a word in to help with her situation.
+daladyj707 they have a button for that, shuts the caller up and the host can talk.
+Westhill Meadow Thank God for it.
I think she's just frustrated with the process and needed to vent.
I agree. However, I'm pretty sure it sounded like she needed advice. Otherwise, why else would she (need to) call?
if dozens of things KEEP popping up out of nowhere, then you're not budgeting properly.
I'm confused. She's mad at using her emergency fund for emergencies?
Exactly lol. You think she would be glad that she has had the emergency fund each time she needs it
Using the emergency fund for an emergency...say wha?!!
Seems like it... Huh
+Randall Richardson lololol
She's frustrated, because she can't get on to step 2, because she keeps needing to spend her baby e-fund.
I am so confused, What did she have to use the money for?
When people are all over the place and can’t even directly answering a question , you know they aren’t following the steps .
Chris needs to be on the show more often!
Other than the “something went weird with the bank account,” what were the emergencies? This was a frustrating call.
If she is socking away 10% then spending it every time before she gets to two grand then she is not socking it away.
just needs a little push in the right direction. We all need this.
Weirdest call on this show I have heard yet. How could she not say one or two examples of emergencies they had? Smh
She needs to follow the baby steps....she has no order in her life. She has no idea where her money goes!! At least she has an emergency account!
I think this woman is frustrated that every time they get a little saved up something pops up that drains their account. That's the whole entire point though.
If she couldn't rattle a list off of emergencies then they are the problem and not following the process
It kinda sounds like she's mad that she has to use her emergency fund. LOL. But THAT is what it's for! :)
Victoria Heindel yep, my comment is way late but, that’s what I think, too.

She didn't give a single specific example of one of these frequent "emergencies". She just sounds frustrated with life.
The lady is all over the place she is the poster child for someone who needs the baby steps. She is overwhelmed by the forest she needs to concentrate on cutting down one tree at a time.
It’s obvious that they are not budgeting correctly. It’s that simple.
There's something seriously wrong with this lady. She is making completely illogical statements. She seems to blame the emergency fund for emergencies occurring. 80% of their income goes away in debt? Say what!?
82% of her gross income is just servicing debt before rent and monthly bills? Seriously??? How does she even eat food?
She has a real problem answering questions
I understand her feelings BUT thats what an emergency fund is for!! they need a different savings account if they want to have a savings that keep on growing. But most importantly they need to list all the things that you consider emergencies so that when something comes up you can either add it on the emergency list or consider it a non emergency!!!

She frustrated me so much in just 4 mins 😒
She needs to use the Every Dollar App! That’s what has saved us. Fished baby step 2 in July! Whoop Whoop!!🤩
Was this caller a joke?! LOL Is this her first time listening.
do not judge those unless you be judged. Everyone needs help and We all know this.
I think she's probably a first-time listener and thinks it's just a financial-advice show.
Sounds like she's doing this by herself and has trouble focusing. Can't tell from this call what will get her on track
she need to check all her debt that she have.and another thing emergency funds are for situations, not for wealth.
Love listening to Chris..awesome voice and very good information
I needed Dave on this call!!!!!!
I love that he says honey
+CollegeGirl Being called "Honey" is degrading, insulting, and overfamiliar unless the speaker is your father or your husband.
Sorry if you feel that way
+CollegeGirl You're likely to also when you're a little older and have worked hard to gain the respect due you. One of the reasons that women STILL don't earn what men do for doing the same job is that they let employers get away with this sort of disrespect. Death by a thousand cuts.

I absolutely love Chris’s voice.
Going to STOP saving? How would these emergencies have been WITHOUT an emergency fund!?!?
She’s so disorganized it’s ridiculous. She doesn’t even know what these emergencies are. The problem is things, things and more things. Nothing specific

MR HOGAN STILL ANSWERED THE QUESTION AND SOLVED THE PROBLEM WITH VAGUE ANSWERS
Her budget is screwed up.
Wow this woman needs a chill pill.
What did they do before they had the emergency funds set up? Especially if it happens repeatedly
Man follow the baby steps
this guy should do voice over work.
10% goes to tithing that's why lol
They need to pull the reigns on all expenses and figure out a budget.
I didn’t know Ken has been with Team Ramsey for so long.
No wonder you losing you not following the steps
So if I save 1,000 bit something comes up...do I still continue it before starting any other step?
Yup
Can't really tell, but did she say Hi, Dave in the beginning...
Oneofakind she says hi guys
She had too many emergencies. I can understand that! She is frustrated!
I would have to call this as a fail for Dave's crew. First of all they did not find out anything about her income or expenses and what expenses they were. That happens to me too but I'm always real greatful I have the emergency fund! After ALL that's what it's for lol..
I need to see how dave would have responded
Dave multiplied lol
Video proof it takes 3 to equal 1 Dave Ramsey
Boy did she get lucky Dave wasn't sitting there. He would have lit into her. :)
the caller is delusional
What????
There doing drugs that's where her money is going... she's unable to say where the money is going when asked
C’’mon lady, just answer the question directly. So many unnecessary words. Blah blah blah
She wrote/cashed bad checks?
It was hard listening to her waffle on and on and on.
Just complaining because shes not following the steps properly
This lady's a mess.
This lady is a mess.
Whats her issue really? Ughh need dave’s tough love here. Stop whining and be an adult. Ugh. If u were complaining about medical bills or car troubles i’d get it but WHATS THE ISSUE?
3 stooges
This was pathetic. Why put this on your show?
+The Dude I think it's wise to have these callers on. They NEED to hear from Dave and Chris & Co. They need more accountability & to get back on track. :)
