The flashback where they said the king gave them 10 copper coins and Himmel had a replica sword was at the very start of their journey. They mentioned the king only gave them 10 copper because so many other heroes had tried before and died, so it was money they saw as wasted, that is to say, it was spending money for their journey and not reward money for killing the Demon King. At that time Himmel still thought he'd be able to get the real sword.
I think he kinda cared about his clothes but it just never came to him that stark was in the bad there. He walked in starks training and defeated gaint monsters without getting any dirt on him but didn’t see that coming so he likely was blaming himself for being overconfident that nothing can get him.
Funny thing is that Stolz is I think the first character where his name's meaning (in German) is not a good fit for his character. Stolz means proud, and when he is initially introduced it is hinted that he is a proud man, but then when we see him with his brother we can see that his caring side is way stronger than his pride.

Callbacks to ep 1 and 3 this episode. In the first ep they mention only being given 10 coins to depart on their journey up north, and in ep 3 Fern remembers the time Frieren spent money on weird things.
I cannot believe we got such an amazing character in Stolz (which is the correct spelling, and means 'pride' or 'proud' btw) just for him to be already dead :( (... presumably)
I think a lot of reactors missed this, but the parallel between himmel and stark was nicely executed. I may be wrong but I dont think the point on why it keeps flashing back to the sword is because stark would be the one to pull it. I think that would undermine what Himmel has done. The sword was there to remind stark that even when himmel didnt manage to pull out the sword, he still became a hero. Unlike him who ran away. With the lesson being that it doesn't matter if you pull out the sword or not, you dont have to be destined to become a real hero. Much like Eisen stating that he considers anyone who works hard a warrior. It's a nice subversion of the trope, that a man who sets out to do something does it because he's righteous and determined enough. Or maybe I'm completely wrong based on the current revelations in the recent chapter of Frieren.
It's not a plastic sword, lmao. The replica is still made of metal and stuff, just doesn't have whatever goddess/divine/holy/hero power inside it like the real Hero's Sword.
I like the foil they made between Stolz and Stark. Stolz was a warrior who doesn’t have a speck of dirt or blood on him since his enemies are so below him. Stark is a warrior who sacrifices life and limb to take down opponents even stronger than him. It makes stark look so cool.
i don't get why reaction youtubers keep thinking Stark will pull the sword. firstly, he uses an axe. how would he learn an entire new way of fighting to use it? i don't see why fate would select an axe user to be the sole user of a sword. secondly, it runs counter to the themes of the entire story, for Stark to be a 'chosen one'..
The village chief's VA played Fujiwara from Love is war and Anya's VA play in this series from the beginning as Frieren. Thet's surprised me at the start.
5:28 everybody always mentions the replica line, that replica flashback was BEFORE he tried to pull the sword. He even says in the flashback "one day ill get the real hero sword" so it clearly takes place before the attempt in the later flashback, but i dont blame yall every other reactor has said almost the exact same line
7:05 True... Dear god the amount of art for 2 little scenes and they made so many poses not even of her laying in bed XD JUST FOR FEET!!!! 13:45 hOLY SHIT LOL "I get vacation time, now to animate this cloak to the max!!!"
6:20 - Replica swords are still real swords. There's a lot of replicas of historical swords out there, bc nobody wants to ruin an antique by sparring or test cutting with it. They're basically just made to be the exact same as an antique, but they're probably sharper and more durable than the real deal considering our metalurgy advanced for centuries since the OG swords were made.
The part about the sword still being in the stone feels like a setup plot point for something else later on. Makes me wonder if this series is kinda like a prequel being done first before the big event.
You missed what time the flashback is. It was before they slayed the demon king. That's why the king only gave them so little money for their adventure
Also the thing with Stark sullying Stoltz' white robe is a little bit of foreshadowing that he will surpass his brother. Stark might have been dirty while he was training but with the rain washing it off and the meeting with Stoltz getting dirt on his clothes is a comparison thing
You can tell Anya's VA has huge range when they can't even tell it's her playing Frieren right in front of them, lol. Seriously though, Tanezaki Atsumi is super talented and plays such a wide range of different characters. Like, she was Emporio from JoJo, Vivy from Vivy, and Tinasha from Unnamed Memory for some interesting examples. If you include the stuff she's done other names (mostly eroge so I won't name any here), I'd say she has one of the biggest range of characters of currently popular VA's. And she nails them all on a technical level too, it's not like she's just doing a weird voice or whatever. Huge props to her, she's great!
Frieren's voice actor is Anya haha Fujiwara Chika's voice actor is the Village Chief And I think the king gave them ten copper coins because at the time they were just a no-name band of adventurers?
How is a real true hero truly measured? By how much they ignore their family members and comrades, or by giving their all to save all they love………….AFTER taking the time to get presents for their loved one’s birthdays?
Normal people: The clothes-dissolving potion is probably valuable because it could also work on armour. Roshi and Lupa: Ok, if you're fully clothed and the guy you're fighting is butt naked, who gets a bigger advantage-

Its not the microwave that heats the bowl. Its the food inside the bowl that does it. Microwaves are heating the water in the food via vibration, thats why you can put papper in there and it wont burn. Little facts for ya.
Callbacks to ep 1 and 3 this episode. In the first ep they mention only being given 10 coins to depart on their journey up north, and in ep 3 Fern remembers the time Frieren spent money on weird things.
I cannot believe we got such an amazing character in Stolz (which is the correct spelling, and means 'pride' or 'proud' btw) just for him to be already dead :( (... presumably)
Stark doesnt want the hero's sword imo, it just reminded him of his brother, who was a hero in his eyes.
I'm surprised Stark didn't start crying at the end there, know for sure I would of.
I did a little😅
I was waiting for him to drop a tear damn even I almost did .. but he didn't he's a warrior
@@krishpache7271 it's ok for weed smoker class or assassins
But you can see Stark's lip shiver
"I Became A Hero In Another World, But I Ain't Doing It For Free" is honestly a show that would catch me immediately
I wasn't able to fend off the tears from this one. ;.;
4:18 the funny part is that actually Frieren's voice actor is the same voice actor of Anya, not the village chief
"Is that Anya's voice actor?" It's funny that Lupa still doesn't know...
That was a sad backstory, gave me Sasuke/Itachi vibes as far as their brotherly bond
1:57- This is the start of their journey, not the end.
7:56 this is why I fucking love this channel.
The chapters that focus on stark and fern are some of the better parts of the manga
This show can really pull the sentimentality out of enything. Never thought I'd tear up watching a guy eat steak.
“Damn. I became a hero in another world, but I’m not doing it for free!” Season 1 2026 announced by Mappa. More details coming soon.
That Mad Katz controller comment caught me off guard lol.
Fern call Stark pervet when he hasen't done anithing, but she use her magic to see Stark and Kraft naked
"this nigga beat the final boss with mad catz controller"
My fucking sides
Frieren and Anya's VA are the same 😂😅
That little girl's VA is the same as Chika (Kaguya-sama)
i don't get why reaction youtubers keep thinking Stark will pull the sword. firstly, he uses an axe. how would he learn an entire new way of fighting to use it? i don't see why fate would select an axe user to be the sole user of a sword. secondly, it runs counter to the themes of the entire story, for Stark to be a 'chosen one'..
The show Lupa described for himself is just Cautious Hero 😂.
The village chief's VA played Fujiwara from Love is war and Anya's VA play in this series from the beginning as Frieren. Thet's surprised me at the start.
They show Stoltz exactly twice and I still ended up loving his character. Crazy how good this mangaka is at making me care about characters so quick.
Enemy: pulls up with maxed out gear ready to scrap
You: *throws clothes disolving potion*
Enemy: 😭
On one hand I really want Stark to pull the sword but on the other I really like the message that you don't need to be chosen to be a hero to be one.
13:40 what makes it even funnier is that Madhouse is the parent company of Mappa 😂😂
I like how even those they could make a prequel anime but they chose to show you the previous journey thru flashback so it like 2 anime in 1.
Frieren and Anya have the same VA and the little girl VA is Chika from Love is War I believe
The sword: sorry, bro, you're not the Hero.
Himmel: Fck you, I'm still him
The part about the sword still being in the stone feels like a setup plot point for something else later on. Makes me wonder if this series is kinda like a prequel being done first before the big event.
Its sad that he didnt even attempt to pull the sword because he just knew that he wouldnt be the one
The Anya references were ironic since Frieren is also voice by the same actress!! 😅
Frieren's voice actor is Anya haha
Fujiwara Chika's voice actor is the Village Chief
And I think the king gave them ten copper coins because at the time they were just a no-name band of adventurers?
How is a real true hero truly measured? By how much they ignore their family members and comrades, or by giving their all to save all they love………….AFTER taking the time to get presents for their loved one’s birthdays?
Lupa My boy 2:25 That's the plot of The Rise of the Shield Hero. Hahaha.
4:19 It's just so funny because Frieren actually has Anya's VA 😆
4:20 Lupasan asks if the village chief is Anya's VA. The fun factoid is _Frieren_ is the one with the VA there.
Anya's Voice actor is actually Frieren HASKJHSAKJHSAKJSK
Normal people: The clothes-dissolving potion is probably valuable because it could also work on armour.
Roshi and Lupa: Ok, if you're fully clothed and the guy you're fighting is butt naked, who gets a bigger advantage-
Funny thing microwaves heat moisture ideally bowls don’t have moisture so the bowl is only hot by proxy.
Frieren, Violet Evergarden, and A Place Further than the Universe, these are all shows that hit so hard Every. Single. Episode. I can tell this series is going to be at the top of my GOAT list
That village chief's VA is same as Roxy from Mushoku tensei, Frieren and Anya share the same VA 😂
13:20 lupa is wild for that comment but hes right LMAO
