Nice performance for first time out after such a long time-out! Being able to film a performance is a great tool for critiquing! Can be tough to look back... but can only help in the long run!

The hardest critique is on yourself, right? I enjoyed watching it, thank you!

Really enjoy the videos of you working your horses in the show ring along with your explanation of what is happening. I am learning quite a bit more about horsemanship. Surely could have used this input back in the day when i still rode but i still enjoy keeping up on it.

What a wonderful opportunity to learn from a professional! I have been enjoying your training videos. It has been years since I had the opportunity to ride; I miss my reining mare and our former ranching way of life. Your generosity with your time and expertise here on YT is a remarkable thing for riders, young and old! Thank you for sharing. God Bless, Merry Christmas, and good luck Hank! I'll be watching for you two from the stands!
FYI. I grew up on the coast in Corpus Christi Tx, sailing. What is it sbout sailing that drives us tp equitation? Grandparents or actually great grandparents, in my case.... yours? ...🥰

I have an aunt that used to live on South Padre Island. It's beautiful there. My ancestors on one side were dairy farmers from Scotland and the other side were boat builders from Portugal. Now my work is riding horses and my hobby is boating in the Gulf of Mexico. Something about both is definitely in my blood.

Cool! Love this! What a gorgeous horse! How long have you been working with him to get him to this point/level? Nice to have the video so you can evaluate your own work, too.

It took about 2 years to get him to this level, now he is a lot of fun to show.

    Thanks Tim!
This was the first time I had ever seen this type of competition.
Since I'm not knowledgeable, I'm going to watch the video a few more times.
I'd like to see if I can recognize what you described as "the horse reading the cow". I've been under the assumption that the rider was doing all of the work, directing the horse, when working the cow.
    Very interesting!
Full disclosure...I've never been a fan of horse competitions (especially horse racing), because of the fact that I follow some horse folks (some that compete, some that don't) that focus on animal cruelty, in the competition world.
Unfortunately, some folks give all types of competitions a bad name.
I'm glad my obsession with horses brought me to you.
Looking forward to the next video.

There is good and bad in every industry, people will see what they want to see. If you watch Hank's turns, he is reacting to the cow's movements practically instantly. It could not happen that quickly if he was waiting for me to tell him. All I'm doing is helping him stay in the correct place to do the 3 parts. Watch our first fence turn. He and the cow turned 1 stride before I thought we were going to and my upper body was behind in the turn.

And for pointing out what should be obvious to me☺️
