Shroom - if you want to make an EPIC video - Climb down the ladders and chains at North Head Lookout - to access the rock platform just left of main lookout. That is perhaps THE BEST LUDERICK/PIG fishing spot in Sydney!!!!. We used to fish there all the time back in late 90's/early 2000's...... It was heaven!. Scary AF to climb down/up - but worth it!!!!!. Also Old Man's Hat is another awesome spot!!!!!
I might try it one day but I am still gonna be fishing the easy and safer spots for the moment. It sounds amazing though Matt, I can see the addiction!
The guys who fish places like the wash at buckler and north head platforms don't have time for the likes of youtubers, he's better off on the ferry wharves with the other casuals.. GoPros and stellas don't float lol
Awesome episode. Yes a drummer or nicked named pigs. Single large leaf will always get the results. Lots of sand burley is a definite must mixed with chopped cabbage or weed or bread when fishing for drummer. Always experiment with depths to find where the luderick are feeding. If you PM I can send you specialist hand mate float and some uncle Ken’s famous line dressing if interested. Been waiting a long time for this session. Great video
great stuff Shroom absolutely loved these sessions great to see you having a go at Luderick fishing well done buddy. And you also managed to land a drummer there's nothing you can't do my friend.
Thanks a lot John! I can imagine how amazing and addictive fishing off a nice ledge can be. I should have known it was a drummer when the drag was peeling haha
All my life since the mid 1970s as a very young kid fishing for blackfish at Port Hacking around Kitchener's reef and Diggers reef. Port Hacking was a fisherman's paradise still beautiful today although better fished during the mid week rather than weekend, as it's getting a little harder to catch a fish lately with Sydney's population growth. I remember boat hire company's in most large bays, black swans on the flats near the ballast heap with plenty of cockles under the sand everywhere. The clarity of the water has never changed, very clear water visible down to 20 feet.
TIP: Fold the weed around the dark hard black dot (root/anchor of the weed) multiple times till it forms a harder, denser small square shaped bait package. Then feed it through the middle of the blackfish hook and the bait will stay on much better. In the water and after some bites, the small leaves will fluff out completely hiding the rest of the hook.
At 10:35 into the video my concept above is aligned with your experiences. Small vs large amount of bait. By folding it up you get plenty of weed on but reducing the size because its denser. Hence, the bait lasts longer through multiple bites rather then getting ripped of straight away.
@@ShroomFishing Good Luck Shroom, some times it can also be much better to use multiple small split shot sinkers rather than 1 big heavier one before that swivel. Also, try doing it on some bream or more finesse style fishing gear, it will allow you to detect those bites and takes much easier. Can also be done very successfully in the Georges River, you don't have to do it on the rocks, much calmer and in my opinion, more straight forward.
It's a very nice video Shroomy, it's great to see kids fishing along side you. Mate Drummer are the best eating fish of all. I reckon give the spot another go, only this time use bread and burley with some bread as well. Drummer are highly prized and give a great fight with that thick tale. Also mate when are you heading to the Hawkesbury next? Well done buddy, cheers Gary.
Thanks a lot Lohnro! I had a great time and I can't see why I won't be giving it another red hot go in the future and see if we can get a decent bag! I'll have to better prepare some burley next time it was a game changer and brought on that drummer. I'm not sure but I was planning!
Love Luderick fishing. Chicken and bread are also great baits, and a steady stream of wet bread mushed with sand and a bit of green weed is a great way to bring them in and get them on the chew in the burley trail. A bit of tuna oil brings the bream in too :D
@@DmantopG I know he did that, I was saying it is a great thing to do to get them in and on the chew. He had just gotten the Drummer out of the burley lol.
Very addictive fishing especially with the sun out in clear water Andrew! It was probably a good sign the cabbage were short, maybe they've been eating it regularly
@@ShroomFishing My first fishing memories are for luderick with my grandfather. He used an old cane pole and Alvey side cast and caught some absolute pigs.
Hi Shroom, I love watching your channel. Please let me know where you are fishing as I know porthacking and I can't recognise the area you are at. I'm hanging for a safe black fishing spot that looks safe. Please let me know thanks.

congrats on your first drummer Shroomy!! i’ve been meaning to do this style of fishing for luderick for a while, i think you have inspired me.

Nice video!👍What size of ball sinker you use to match the float?
It was around 10g I think
We call them Parore in NZ. They make excellent bait.
Nice one, I just learnt something!
I alway do rock fishing it’s a challenge lol 😂 would love to get a boat one day
SOunds good, always a challenge with fishing and conditions!
Have you caught a barramundi before? I know they are not commonly caught in your area
Yes I’ve caught a number up north. The closest footage I have at the moment of Barra is when I ‘caught’ a few in my Anaconda video
Love blackfish fishing! Better on fly!
I might give that a go in the future. I haven't dusted off my fly gear in ages
@@ShroomFishing it’s worth it, whole lotta fun!
I noticed some Cungi on the rocks in the first part.
You could probably take a few different baits to try out.
Yes I noticed too Ted, I wasn't sure on the rules of the place so I didn't harvest any but that would be amazing bait!
@@ShroomFishing the problem with too complex laws.
You would get more bites throwing out weed onto Gosford train platforms 😂😂
It is all about which type of weed you are throwing.
Scope out a rod produced by Ian Miller called the Drifter. If you want a spinning outfit for Luderick, it’s the absolute bomb.
Wow sounds awesome, might have to look into that. I have some fly rods I want to give a go one day, they are certainly long enough for this!
