Just to touch on the elimination of Indigenous culture…. With the help, in a Big way, of the church. Indigenous people would have healthier lives, I think, by rejecting the colonizer’s religion

As a descendant of white colonialists, I fully support the Land Back Movement. And I agree that Indigenous people know how to respect the land, where white colonialists will literally destroy the biosphere in the name of capital gain.

Dr.B, what about the Wounded Knee Cemetery on the Pine Ridge Reservation that has a christian cross mounted on the arch as you enter and several US flags displayed throughout the site? These symbols, symbolize the genocide brought on the Lakota people and all natives across the Americas. Isn't it a disgrace and insult to the memory of those murdered on December 29, 1890 for these symbols to be displayed?

Yes it's about regeneration of the environment through Indigenous stewardship and culture first. While it doesn't necessitate colonizers going back to Europe, it's in general a good idea. How are Indigenous people going to get off the rez and live on their ACTUAL ancestral homelands, unless some colonizers go back? Oklahoma isn't the homeland of most of the tribe there.

When did settlers truly outnumber natives in the U.S.A? 18th century, 19th century? what are some good sources to learn from?

I appreciate the patient candor in your lesson, though it is unfortunate and unfair that such gentle consideration is needed to break through the ice.
White identity is so wrapped up in entitlement to a presumption of innocence, often attempts to bring the depth of injustice to the attention of someone not ready to recognize our shared responsibility to our future will become extremely fraught and even combative.
Well, one mind at a time, thank you for the work you are doing ✊🏼
