That Pioneer PD-10AE is really growing on me in that the accuracy and detail playback is near perfect. It seems to be too honest in the playback accuracy, which is really what I wanted. To hear what is actually on the CD is a good thing to me because I can hear great detail from well mastered music. Sound stage I attribute more to the speakers and amp. The input outputs are spartan for sure, but it's all I need. Just running the CD player into a restored Pioneer SX850 out to self supercharged C40 Harkness designed, folded horn cabs. Now that is serious sound stage when cranked just a little.
It's sad that Teac has abandoned the uncompromising Hi-Fi sector! Take a look inside a VRDS from the 2000s. The VRDS 25 had a massive aluminium mechanism, the case was divided into 3 distinct parts, the cast aluminium press plate covered the CD, which could not vibrate. Today, I can't imagine a machine built like these magnificent Teac VRDS CD players. Today, they're nothing more and nothing less than PC players in disguise, with a nice gold label on top ! 🙄🙄🙄
Denon - poor quality and difficult to get repaired. For me Marantz even though it is the same corporation. Cambridge Audio is also fragile build quality.
Have a Denon 500c cd/mp3 player. It's about 4 years old. Disc's won't load. No one will fix it. It's hard to get parts. Tried to contact company... well lots of luck with that. I would NEVER buy another Denon product and would advise everyone else to avoid this brand. Expensive garbage.
I had the same experience with Denon years ago when you could still get repairs. They were VERY expensive bookshelf component systems ($1,000 each in the 90s!) and I had 3 of them for different work/home locations. The CD and cassette portions spent a lot of time in the shop and I eventually threw them out although I still use the amps and speakers to this day. Definitely NOT a quality brand imo.

I have had my Marantz CD6004 since 2014 and it cost about $400 back then. It is still playing well for 10 years now. It sounds rich and smooth too.
@danielnapoli649 I have a modded Denon 5910 that has worked flawlessly since new (around 20-years). Maybe you got a lemon?

Extraordinarily terrible list. Mention Pioneer, but don't provide a model number. List a SONY CD changer that was discontinued years ago. Just bad.
