Thank you for conducting this really interesting interview about a band I grew up loving, and also picking out these very poignant clips. You're doing epic work.
I don’t see how your question is different to the types of questions he is referring to from the journos in the mid 2000s (which he says annoyed him and Kele). Yes, we all know Rock music has its roots in black culture. The question was asked at the time because not many black people were in indie rock bands in the UK during the mid-2000s. It’s just an objective fact and I don’t believe journalists had malicious intent when asking that question. Kele’s experience is extremely unique and therefore interesting.
At least not super popular ones at the time, but there still would've been plenty of Black and POC in bands in perhaps more underground scenes around that time. The intent wouldn't have been malicious, but journalists probably hadn't even done research before asking such a question, which could be annoying. Questions like that can sometimes make people feel even more like an 'other' if that makes sense
Please!!! Enough of this guy!!!! 🙄🙏🏼. Everyday is getting more brutal then you reading to us Pete Dohertys book we all have read!!!! Let’s talk about Oasis or Babyshambles!!! 🙏🏼

Ace cheers.
Its a shame, the fans didn't care about it at all.
I always got the impression his sexuality caused him more distress than his race.
