Very nice , Maestro. Can I try?
That was an AWESOME tutorial!!! I loved the final result! It looked destructive and explosive 🧨 Thank you so much for taking the time to show the splatter technique. I can’t wait to give it a try this weekend! Cheers 🍻
Thank you for your friendly and informative comment! 🖋️👍💯
I really like the drawing!
Martin I just discover your profile and love your explanation of nibs. I am always looking for that "perfect" nib and end it up pressing too hard and destroying nibs. Love your work and thank you so much for doing these videos
Thank you so much! I appreciate your feedback! 💯🖋️👍
Thank you very much, Martin!! It turns out I needed more ink on my nib to get bigger splatters (I was using a tiny, tiny well to save ink 😝). I love the effect. Thanks for showing how to clean new nibs, now I know there’s no need to stress out. I will try nib #66 and other nibs I can find online.
Thank you very much! Amazon has a huge variety of steel nibs!
Thank's for sharing your techniques! I'm very much a beginner, so I appreciate your realtime videos - makes it so much easier to try and follow along.
Thank you for your helpful feedback, I am thinking about to do more of these real time “drawing lessons” 🖋️👍
Wow!
What you describe as a "bad result," is (to my eyes) a masterpiece. I’d be delighted to create such bad results. 😀
And, childish or not, I absolutely love the splatter effect. In an earlier comment I respectfully asked you for a lesson on splattering, so I’m delighted that you granted my request.
The effect takes a bit of practice (you make it look so easy), but I hope to eventually master it.
I have experimented by splattering with coloured inks, such as green around foliage, and I am really pleased with the effect.
Thank you so much for sharing this technique. I am so glad I stumbled upon your channel by accident. I have now subscribed, and I look forward to accessing your back catalogue of videos.
Thanks again for sharing your expertise.🙏🏻
Thank you so much for your really helpful feedback! I appreciate that very much! Keep it up! Best greetings from Austria!
Thank you Martin, I love your fantasy paintings. I use a fude fountain pen which enables you to have thicker lines or fine lines depending which way you have the nib.
Absolute right, I used fude pens the last 3 years till I discovered this brush pens (Kuretake Sumi Brush Pen)
Very useful information Thank you for sharing 😊
Thanks a lot for your friendly feedback 💯🖋️👍

There's something almost magical watching you work. It's so grungy and unique and I love hearing the ting of the splatters it's as if it makes it's own music and something beautiful plays out on the page.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your talent with us beginners who are lost just trying to find the right dip pens and nibs. 😂
Thanks to you I've got several nib names to try and now I'm on the hunt for that beautiful red brush pen of yours and a skinny dip pen.
I'm wondering if you just need to go to an art store because I don't get out often and looking on Amazon not knowing exactly what to search for has led me to the road of destruction. 😂
Thanks for the wonderful video it brightened my day. Until the next one.❤
Wow, what a wonderful great feedback! Very motivating as well! The red brush pen is a Kuretake Sumi Brush Pen (amazon). Best wishes from austria!
Thanks Martin. Awesome video that I have been waiting to see :)

Thank so much for this inspiring tutorial. I really enjoy your videos.
What kind of brush-pen did you use in this episode? It looked really nice.
Thank you so much for your support! It’s a Kuretake Sumi Brush Pen, with an ink converter filled up with waterproof ink like “sketch ink” by rohrer und klingner
The Best‼️Danke💯
you are welcome!
Super Anleitung. Vielen Dank
Sehr gerne 😊
I ask this sincerely... What actually is the attraction of the splatter. Does splatter suggest a weathered" look? A patina? A hint of birds or cloud detail? It seems to add to a picture somehow, but I don't see why. I' recently started pen and ink and noticed other parallels such as implied line, wavy line, darker line intersections, etc. All seem to fool the eye in some way. Architects have sketched using these techniques for may years. What is happening with splatter?
Thanks a lot for your questions and comment! My intention is to give the drawing more dynamism and expressivity, and it also takes on a dynamic of its own. The meaning behind it is up to each viewer.
@@MartinLachmairArt Thanks, Martin, for your response. Your art certainly does have a dynamism and is very expressive. I see now that your splatter creates a sense of movement that engages the viewer. Cartoonists for decades have shown movement with various visual tricks, like trailing lines, etc. Your use of splatter also serves to direct the viewer's attention to where you want it. Keep up the good work. I hope your channel is a great success! Rob
When you say that you don't like a particular part of a work it's really helpful when you elaborate on why you don't like it, but also frustrating when you say you're not happy with something but don't explain it. It would be great if you worked on being more consistent on this. Even saying something like "this outcome is just not what i would consider representative of my style" would be enough if you're having trouble coming up with an explanation.
Thanks for your helpful feedback, I will keep that in mind! 👍🖋️
I can’t seem to get splashes but rather tiny strokes, like it doesn’t snap back hard enough, does anyone have a suggestion to get it to work?
Well, I stick the nib into the paper, bend the nib and then I lift it up a little bit 🖋️ Maybe this helps.
@@MartinLachmairArt maybe I’m being too gentle with it. I’ll keep trying, thanks! Love your work by the way.
Thank you so much! 🖋️👍💯
Hi martin, illustration done to show case different dip pen sizes nib and it's capabilities,...but everything done on white sheets, how about if you can illustrate on cream paper,or yellow paper, would it look the same ...what is your take on that?
Hi, I have never used tonal paper, therefore I cannot share any experience on this topic. And I don’t plan to use tonal paper.
Was there a lot of difference in drawing op between the diverse nips?
The biggest difference are how elastic and flexible the nibs are, best way is to test different types!
@@MartinLachmairArt Thanks, I certainly will experiment with that.
Thanks for video sir🍻
