i worked at summer camp, we had 2 washer/dryers for all of the staff, if you were late for your laundry in went in your basket, means you get to clean the staff break room that nite
I had problems like that when I was working out at Yellowstone for a summer during college, the laundry room that I use was near my dorm but I did have to walk down the hall as I was mid way down it, then down the stairs as I was on the 2nd floor and then out the door and outside because our laundry room was in a small building near by. And as I remember there were 5 washers and 4-5 dryers in there, I never had a problem with washing my clothes as there was always a washer open and they all worked just fine, but the problems came when you went to dry your clothes as it seemed that only 1 of those dryers ever actually worked, some times you were lucky and 2-3 of them worked good and very rarely did they all work. Of course it was free for staff to use unlike the guest laundry rooms which were guests paid to use.
We had a similar problem with clothes being taken out of dryers at boarding school. I had the perfect solution, bleach. When I opened a dryer to find someone else's clothes inside, and mine on the floor, I poured bleach all over her clothes. That was the last time we had that problem. No-one dared do that to another girl.
@@jquest43BOL...Cabin? No cabin, shared space that is not large enough to place a portable washer...unless you consider the sink in the head a portable washer. Actually some crew do wash in the sink, and dry where ever there is space where you sleep.
There should be a laundry command center computer screen near crew laundry number 1 that has icons representing each machine. The icon would light up if the machine was in use and turn off when the machine was not in use. That should save you some walking around.

Is it best even to attempt to try and put the laundry in at say 2am on a certain night if I have a late morning next day? Heading to work on Carnival soon... or should I pay someone to do it for me? Yes, I wore a uniform. Mainly a black polo, black pants, black shoes/boots (this was for tech positions). If you're a staff position, you also get a room steward for your cabin and they will bring your laundry and bring it back once it's ready. My position was staff so I was awarded this privilege. Crew positions do not have this service and have to clean their uniforms themselves (think utility galley/hotel, hosts, waiters, etc...).

I paid my cabin steward to take it to the Chinese laundry once a week. The best money I ever spent in 15 years at sea!
I paid my cabin steward once to do my laundry and he came back with several items missing and a few clothes burnt. Worst money I ever spent lol

Avg. 2 person bunkbed cabin = 36 sq. ft. no room for a small washer or anything else. It's pretty demeaning. These videos are all true.
