What an awesome video!
Haha! I always wondered what the story with those was! Thanks for sharing!
Wow great video great info , just found these on my property west pa woodline /hillside looks just like where u filmed at
The galls are often very beautiful. Whenever I see them I think they'd make lovely jewelry, but what they are creeps me out to think of wearing them. 😱
***** Ha! I love that, you're so right.
Other insects create galls too! They are so neat!
Jessica Carlson Yeah! All their crazy shapes and colors they can come in, so alien like!
Interesting little things. Never seen any of those. Love the sidestep away from mushrooms, don't get me wrong though, mushrooms are my favorite!
+William Peters The monks in England ground the galls with wine and a few other things to make ink. They used it for those beautiful manuscripts made in the scriptoriums. Brownish black ink.
+Diane Abplanalp I've thought about trying that myself, have you ever given it a try? I've seen a few things online about the process but haven't attempted it yet.
No DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT ALL YOU NEED TO DO IT.
Have you ever made dye or pigment from those? Ive read about it collected a few and got gum arabic for binding but that's as far as ive got
I have ten million on my house in Massachusetts
I have hundreds of small I guess you would call seeds from my oak tree. They are small brown and about the size of a pea. They are way to small to be galls. I could send a pic but I don't have those skills ha. I can't find any info on them. I have a hackberry k. inda close. Hackberrys maybe.
I recently started making these into tea let's see how it goes
Oh interesting! Hope it turns out well for you.
