Bush 2019 was a Travis Peterman battery book. You can definitely hear the Crown influences in the book.

I don’t think I knew that, but that’s awesome. We obviously love TP.

@@agedoutpodcast Yeah he wrote Bush's 2018 and 2019 book when I marched snare. Always a fun time getting reps on TP beats

Hardest show I've ever marched. So rewarding, yet so painful. I just remember repping huge chunks that summer and just being mad. Great job with the review guys!

All the huge chunks! Sensemaya was such a grueling b****. But the end was rewarding. Miss you my friend! -Evan

I've been waiting for Crown 09 to get breakdown / podcast love. Great line, and the notes were nuts. I used the book as my motivation to get better and reach world class corps / indoor levels. Excited to listen to this one, guys!

It's funny you said you didn't realize the difficulty / exceptionality of the book / achievement. I knew a few people from that group, and no one made a big deal out of what y'all were doing at the time. It is still probably the most consistently dense, aggressive drumming I've heard from a group to this day. Phenomenal stuff.

I don't know if I met Evan or not, but I was brought in to audition for quads in the March or April camp that year. I think it was wgi finals week so hardly any snare drum guys were there. I remember being cut because I didn't play with the velocity Beddis was looking for haha.
There's videos of my audition tape on my channel, but I think I witnessed the birth of the CMFC vocal. I remember hearing Zino (is that his name?) And the girl drummer (didn't catch her name) talking about adding that vocal during that camp.
Also Travis was a hoot to play next to that weekend.

Yeah fellas! I started watching DCI in 2009 and I enjoyed and still love the Lee lines. (Crown 11 for sure) These crown 09 videos were some of the first I ever watched. Thanks Evan for sharing your stories and input on the moments of the show. From a stand points stand point, I love the tuning from a far, and you all had some really dynamic moments, there some stuff on the low end and decrescendo to the edge that had great musicality.

Here's a cool suggestion: through the years multiple drum companies have made really interesting equipment that modifies the sound of drums. In this video the Bush's snares don't have scoops which means the sounds not being projected forward. DO you two think that different equipment really matter in the long run? Like for the scoops, I know top lines use them and some college lines. Like for Coats 2012 used the EQ system that allowed for the top head to be heard more. Just a cool topic of things you guys could talk about since both of you have had a very good exposure on it, heck you could get other people in on it.

I did DCA from 1995 to 2002. was in the snareline in Westshormen, Bucs, Empirestatsmen. back in those days I was the young kid at 21-27. now all I see in DCA drumlines are high school and college kids.

He certainly spared no ink! Aggressive for sure. I feel like I also remember him saying he wouldn’t have put it on the page if he didn’t want it to be heard.
