A unique approach for the stanchion mounts. Practically eliminating potential rot, very robust when finished, extremely strong and well supported. No water pooling. No crunching toe stubs. Tremendous attention to detail, form and function.
Janet does excellent detailing. Stop interfering and get on with it. Go for the 2 wave breakers. Add the small bulkhead pieces and just let Janet loose. She has gotten quite good at finishing intricate jobs.
Those shower bases are beginning to look very smart.

After watching your channel for as long as i have, since 2018 or 19, i am able to know how you are feeling at that particular time. i know when you are simply 'naked' (tired) because you ramble 😊 and nasty when things go wrong or the weather is severely affecting you..👹.... lol... Like i said, you are down to the wire now. It might ba a long wire but look how far you and Janet have come!!!! Cheers....Jim

You always impress me Ross. The quality of the work is excellent and your not afraid to try something like welding. Much respect. The solutions for the Stanton’s is excellent, I think it’s the lease work and expense as you can easer at this stage glass-up and make goos, and if you ever need to change in the future it will be very simple. Janet bagged a good one with you Ross. 👍🏼

A couple La Salmo Canoes under the Deck is a must. I would definitely go with two of them for sure.

Always good to see Janet doing her thing (adds a touch of class to the channel :) An elegant solution on those stanchion bases, good luck with the welding, will follow that with interest. Perhaps a Brupeg visit is in order...

Ross, you are doing an amazing job ,I've watched from the start and it still amazes me how much work has gone into building this boat. You are so lucky to have a wife who's willing to work as hard as Janet does. She never complains and she does a lot of the work that would drive most guys batty. She's a gem but you already know that. You are heading down the final stretch and I can't hardly wait to see you two wonderful people sailing the world and reaping the benefits of all your hard work.

Hey Ross another great video, love the staunchion mounts recessed like that but not a big fan of lifelines, I reckon since you are still building you should consider at least a top rail made of stainless tube all the way round, easier to grab as we get older and on 800 staunchions, only a bit taller but givves a lot more protection being higher on the leg.

You just got to tack your rails with a tig welder then pay a real welder and the best tig welder you can find and afford to finish off the welds and you will be forever satisfied and happy ! Stay the course you both are getting there and doing a great job.

  • @martinneubert4068
    @martinneubert4068 ปีที่แล้ว

Absolutely nice work boath of you.
For the rails, i would sugest that you buy a tig welder and give it a go, its actualy not that hard to weld stainless, and even making som nice looking and strong welds.
By the way i realy like the way that the bathroom floor drain is made.
    Take care guys.
    All the best.

Lol. Thanks again for the great content. I have a whoooole new appreciation for the time and care it takes to create these episodes!

Crewed on cat with some of those wavebreakers. When they fitted a few years after the boat was originally made, they also installed bladders in side them so they could use them for extra fuel if needed. Unrelated found out a few years later the boat was siezed as part of a drug importation ring.

Janet is worth her weight in gold mate👍🏼👍🏼 one question is the joining lip coming off to give a rounded edge or are you adding bumper rail like a power boat??

In the US you can find corian and some granites in about 6.35mm thickness that has fiberglass bonded to the unfinished side to add strength. I've seen it in the RV industry mostly and it's normally found in the high end products.

I would put 3 or 4 of those wave breakers. My thinking is the waves will ride up the side of the v and crash into each other, forming a cushion of water and air hence less slamming. If you got a friend boat designer ask them to model which will be the best number of wave breakers 3, 4 or what ever number? That’s my niece thinking… likely wrong…lol

Would you consider leaving it a tight fit with the shower base, and simply fit a drain outlet in the corner above where the other drain is? Any leaking around the edge would also still drain away. If it was a screw in drain cover, you could unscrew it, and use the hole to pull up the floor if needed at a later date.

Ross, for shower drainage, can you add some large holes in the vertical part of the rim area and gently radius off top corner edge to guide water towards each hole ? That would allow small neat channels for water to escape into invisible holes while keeping tight fit elsewhere for squeak free panel. I like the reinforcements in hull transition for stanchions, they might also be a good mounting point for a suspended ceiling off furring strips anchored into a lip or other ledge ceiling trim and lighting can suspend from ?...

It wont matter. Both are compatible chemistries. The issue will be if you bounce between epoxy and styrene based monomers.Once you move to epoxies you should not go back.Cheers Rossco
