    I want to thank you for these videos. I am learning how to fiberglass from your experiences. I hope to see you break the haul from the mold. I think that is going to be the hardest break-away with all the bath units and other bulk-head units in place. I am in Texas and love to hear you talk. It is a break from the language I hear every day.

    Last thing you want in ruff seas is a BW tank sloshing about and filling the Bilge with whatever it was sloshing about, besides the Bilge Rats will more than likely abandon ship and leave you high and dry with nothing to throw rocks at...Hope your Holiday was a great time..Looking good Mr Ross !!

    Gday Ross,love the Chanel. I was nieve not to realise how much work was involved in building a boat, especially having sailed 20k miles,as a tradie myself I appreciate just how througher you are with every element of the build and it’s extremely interesting to watch and learn. Although you’ve got skills,I started watching you because you weren’t a boat builder,so I find your new intro a little off ,calling yourself 1,I have no doubt you would put a lot of boat builders to shame though,' obviously I’m not giving you shit mate. Recently you’ve talked about putting about putting drains in your forward crash bulkwards

Actually not a ship write but have worked on with and around boats all my life be it dive boats kayaks and boat repairs since a young bloke.Intro is more about how i see myself these days not a false statement really. Hey Ross! New microphone is working great, the truck back up buzzer is soooo much clearer now.. Lol. Just kidding btw. I figured that since you get to cruise the canals of Venice with that pretty girl, I get to pull on your chain a bit...
    The boat is looking fantastic! I can't believe you can achieve that kind of finish with one layer of "flowcoat". It would take me 2 layers of epoxy primer and 2 coats of epoxy topcoat to achieve that level of finish.

    Hull sweat isn't a major problem in the tropics. It is a far bigger problem outside the tropics, since the temperature differential, with colder water outside the boat, and humid air inside the boat. The moisture condenses on the hull, soaking anything that touches the hull... This is why many boats have woodwork water stains under the windows. The windows are not leaking, but the condensation drips off the windows and runs down the woodwork. Either dehumidify the boat or stop breathing, since humans exhale air at about 100% relative humidity...

    • @LifeOnTheHulls
      @LifeOnTheHulls  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is such a good point about the humidity. I am not going to have masses of woodwork in this boat, more like trim and fiddles. Definately on the money about breathing. It is major problem. Cheers.Ross

    Are your structural bulkheads plywood sandwich or foam sandwich?? Thanks

    • @LifeOnTheHulls
      @LifeOnTheHulls  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both major compression bulkheads in this cat are of marine ply.These are both above the waterline and ensure mast and bridgedeck are sufficient in sheer and compression.Marine ply is laminated with 2 layers of 600db on each side and laminated with epoxy to ensure it us sealed and bonded correctly.Forward wing frames although supposed to be ply have been substituted with foam and a layup schedule of 300csm x 2 and 600db on each side laminated in polyester saving approx 40% in weight of structure.All the best Ross

      @rainmaker3700 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LifeOnTheHulls Is it possible to achieve compressive and shear strength with foam sandwich?? Probably very bulky? What is th thickness of your foam hulls?? The reason I ask is because I am going to build a Tiki 42-48, but think I will build it out of foam core instead for traditional ply.
