CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Dottie (Geena Davis) gets recruited by Ernie (Jon Lovitz) to play in a professional baseball league, but Kit (Lori Petty) is the one who wants to go.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The All-American Girls' Professional Baseball League was founded in 1943, when most of the men of baseball-playing age were far away in Europe and Asia fighting World War II. The league flourished until after World War II, when, with the men's return, the league was consigned to oblivion. Director Penny Marshall and screenwriters Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel re-create the wartime era when women's baseball looked to stand a good chance of sweeping the country. The story begins as a candy-bar tycoon enlists agents to scour the country to find women who could play ball. In the backwoods of Oregon, two sisters -- Dottie (Geena Davis) and Kit (Lori Petty) -- are discovered. Dottie can hit and catch, while Kit can throw a mean fastball. The girls come to Chicago to try out for the team with other prospects that include their soon-to-be-teammates Mae Mordabito (Madonna), Doris Murphy (Rosie O'Donnell), and Marla Hooch (Megan Cavanagh). The team's owner, Walter Harvey (Gary Marshall) needs someone to coach his team and he picks one-time home-run champion Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks), who is now a broken-down alcoholic. After a few weeks of training, as Dugan sobers up, the team begins to show some promise. By the end of the season, the team has improved to the point where they are competing in the World Series (which is no big deal, since there are only four teams in the league).

+Jordacar Same here. I like how at the end of the clip because of that line "You know something? You're not nice." after it shows the actors it shows The Best of the Best: JERKS and it showed Biff from Back to the Future knocking on George's head. That made me laugh so hard.
"It's not nice" seems to be all the trailer has to say about the new movie, "The Banshees of Inisherin" other than "It takes two to tango" and "I don't want to tango."

Yeah Lovitz was great in this film.
Too bad the movie is actually belittling the ladies involved in this historical event. It makes them look like caricatures. The real players have their organization, and they did not allow the producers to use their real pictures from the period. As you can see at the end of the movie, they are using actually photoshopped pictures of the actresses made it look like they are from that time. The movie is kind of entertaining, until you realize it is a disgrace.
Jon Lovitz was hilarious in this movie! They could have made another movie of his character going all over the country recruiting girls to play baseball, and there wouldn't have been a dull moment.
I love how Jon Lovitz says "hey cow girls, see the grass dont eat it. And everything they get attached to me." 😅😅 hilarious.

Jon Lovitz crass and crude humor is perfect in this movie. You're just anticipating a laugh every time he speaks.

I’ll always remember that as one of the funniest moments in a movie.. especially at a time when I needed some humor and cheering up in life. I love this film.

@@kristopherryanwatson I think she meant best small part or role. He wasn't in the movie for long, but you remember his performance despite that. He made the most of the time he was given.
I remember being rather disappointed in him leaving. Almost brought a tear to my eye.
That was a very entertaining movie and Lovitz was perfectly cast, as they all were.

Lovitz' scenes almost get lost from the rest of the movie, but are some of the funniest in the whole movie.
I love how Ernie didn't even want Kit, and in the end it was Kit who ended up winning in the WS and having the whole stadium chanting her name
Batgirl 12 I was told dottie dropped the ball on purpose and it did seem pretty obvious. She just realized that kit wanted it more.

The peaches were the real winners but Dottie coached Hellen to give Kit her favorite type of pitch and she deliberately/subtly dropped the ball to let her kid sister win. Dottie loved the game and even came back to play at the end because of what Jimmy said to her. She just loved her sister more.

I love this whole movie. The actors. But I think the two favorite parts in this movie is when kit confronted her sister and telling her she had been traded to Racine! And also when kit was up to bat...and kit was pissed. Kits eyes were locked. Love it. Awesome movie❤️

I can understand why Dottie hesitated, but she never stopped resisting the idea even after the season was in full swing, pardon the pun. She was an amazing, confident athlete who thrived in the league. I didn't quite understand her arm's length approach.
She was happy at the farm, she entered because of Kit.
Being a professional ball player wasn't something that she wanted or needed for her life. She was willing to make the sacrifice because he wouldn't take Kit without her, and she probably saw even beyond how much Kit wanted it that she needed it too.
To this day, I’ll use “So long, milkmaids!” as a farewell. Lovitz stole every scene he was in in this movie!

this movie had so many epic lines that i just didn't appreciate at age 9.
Hunting for this scene and glad to find it with comments. Lovitz , city fellow with words, has the recruiting job putting him into heartland boonies. So he can’t help but bring his mouth of cynicism to all he sees as rubes. An entire film of this character facing every ‘traveling salesman’ joke could be done. Love it.

I read that Petty had to bite her tongue to keep herself from laughing because Lovitz's comedic acting cracked her up so much, her tongue actually was bleeding.

Dottie just isn't the adventurous type. She'd rather squeeze milk out of cows than go for the chance to join a baseball league. My girlfriend actually would take Dottie's side as she says the world needs farms more than it needs baseball. Well, true as that is, it doesn't hurt to go and try something new and expand your horizons just a little.

Dottie should at least consider this. They'll be paid more than twice what they make at the dairy. Dottie and her husband want to start a family someday. It would be nice to make a little extra money to put aside for when they have kids. Because one thing about kid is THEY'RE EXPENSIVE. Even if you have a career you're happy with such as farm work, there's nothing wrong with making a few extra bucks on the side. After all, this baseball thing is only going to be a seasonal job for them.
I don't feel sorry for Kit. Kit is 100% not a victim of anything. Kit is envious of Dottie. So much so that she distorts reality to suit her narrative. Kit is in a one sided sibling rivalry with Dottie. Kit over exaggerates or lies about how people view & compare her to Dottie. Dottie even calls her out on it at the beginning of movie. Kit uses emotional black mail to manipulate Dottie into feeling guilty about everything & nothing. When the emotional blackmail back fires, Kit angrily lashes out. Regarding Kit's skill, she has it. We don't know if her skill is actually less or equal to Dottie's because she spends the entire movie, w/ exception to the try outs, mimicking Dottie's technique. Kit is a very insecure & immature young woman with low self-esteem.
Lovitz is a under used genius.

Ernie did make a deal, he would take Kit but ONLY if Dottie agreed to come, too. Kit told Dottie to do it and say that she did something big with her life. Dottie said that she's happy with her life the way it is. JEEZ, Dottie has no imagination! Kit does not like living on a farm and she seems to be nothing there and says she HAS to get out of this lifestyle. I don't blame Kit. Dottie did agree to go.
The brother in law didn't even acknowledge kit even after winning the World series the parents didn't show up only Doris father did
