I've seen so many weird political comments about this princess dragon movie. I'm a 35 yo man who couldn't care less about gender politics and I had a great time with this movie. It has flaws but it was really fun. I just wish the trailer wouldn't have shown so much... How has the industry not grown out of that?? Lol
Well i went in blind so i didnt know there were politics gg on until i saw this comment but still dk wats gg on anywayz other than the movie performance so ......😬😬 What is it about? 🫡🫡
I also went in blind and loved this movie! The gender politics wasn't shoved down your throat, although I knew some people would be groaning at the "girl boss" moments. I thought it was a very entertaining and unique story.
Yeah, they gave away pretty much the whole movie in the trailer. They should have just shown a teaser trailer of her being in the cave and let that be that. Millie Bobbie Brown vs a dragon w/title Damsel is enough to get someone to go watch whatever that is. She has enough clout to draw in an audience, but the premise is also a good one anyway (what happens when there's no one to save you?!). But no...b/c of how they did do the trailer, the Robin Wright reveal did not have the intended impact it was supposed to have (uh, Princess Bride anyone?!) and we already knew the mystery of how she got in the cave and the fact she would get out of it. Those who went in blind were lucky. I know I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I went in blind.
I don’t understand the whole wedding situation. Why do they need a fake wedding to do this? Why didn’t the Royal family just take 3 girls from the village, cut their hands, throw them down the cave, and call it a day? Did no one find it suspicious that the Prince is getting married multiple times and that all his wives disappear right after the wedding??
@@_IAMONEE_Okay…if the whole Kingdom knew about the sacrifices and they approved of it. Why was there a wedding? Again just take 3 girls, do the ritual, and throw them down the cave. What was the point of the fake wedding? It’s not like the Prince and the girl were in love, they just met each other.
It was self-preservation for the whole village, who are all in on the dragon issue. Besides, killing off strangers prevents emotional attachment. It can also be a political advantage since it reduced the numbers of royalty of other kingdoms (so they're less of a danger) while having them be a part of your kingdom (the marriage creates interconnectedness between the two kingdoms). Additionally, it could be a peaceful way of getting what they need without invading other villages, which takes resources and could cost people's lives. Lastly, royals probably don't want to share blood with anyone of lower status, not to mention it likely being taboo anyway during that time. They DID have Floria marry the prince, but that may have been more to maintain the kingdom relationships, since Eloda wasn't known to have fulfilled her role that they paid her family to play (human sacrifice post marriage). I guess Eloda could have been viewed as possibly creating conflict between the families (breaking her marriage bond) so Floria was making up for that. I'm also realizing I probably didn't answer your question fully. This is the middle ages. People don't marry for love. Marriage never was about love. It was about the combination of families (at the lower ranks) and kingdoms (at the higher ranks). People had to do formal setups. It wasn't thought to be any other way. People did not elope. They were not fake weddings. Tradition was of incredible importance. Also, in this story, they are trying to TRICK the princess into going willingly into the cave and getting her hand cut and blood mixed. There's 100% less likelihood she'll escape if she never knows she's in danger.
Okay…thank you for the thoughtful response. But again why does it matter if the girls feel safe or not? They obviously didn’t have a choice. The Royal Family is fine with sacrificing innocent girls so why would the girl’s feelings matter? Once she is there why not just sacrifice her and get it over with? What did the wedding add to the story? It’s not like Elodie and the Prince had some deep connection, they just met a few hours before the wedding and he cared more about her sister than her!
It's not meant to be a high budget blockbuster. For what it is, a straight to netflix film, it's watchable. It's not a bad movie by any mean, just not a great one.
They did a pretty good job with the special effects. The dragon looked pretty great. It was Acted extremely well. For me, the dragon was the most compelling character but overall the movie was just...meh.

I actually kinda liked the movie except for one flaw. The dragon wanted three daughters of the king from the family that slaughtered her childrens but when the father of Elode came to save her how did she not connect the thots and see(smell) that the father wasn't related with the evil royal family? Sounds like bad writing.
Not necessarily. Currently the Queen is of the line of the murderous king, so the current king (Prince Henrys father) would obviously be unrelated to her and her royal line. Therefore Elodie's father could have been the queen's husband, the dragon has no way of knowing that, they didn't do introductions.

X2 tbh The ending is good but I would have liked the dragon to have destroyed the queen's castle while he had her tied up so that she could suffer little by little watching her ego fall to pieces, the ending was good but could have been perfect 9/10 🤭
This guy clearly missed the point on his head. Meghan Markel not allowed to bring anyone but her biological mother to her own wedding. Her father who loving raised her not allowed to walk her down the isle or attend the ceremony only to have the dragon breath prince Charles take over those duties
I noticed a discrepancy in the story regarding Victoria's journey. How was she able to draw a map of the area beyond the crystal walls if she reached a dead end at Window Rock, then returned to safety before drawing it? It seems illogical that she would climb again after drawing the map and get burned 😅
Ya, I was confused about what happened to Victoria. Apparently, in the book, she is able to talk to the princesses through blood magic. So maybe this was them trying to do that without the magic but not executing quite right. Like If they are gonna have a dragon and magic healing worms, why not use the blood magic?
I thought it was pretty obvious she drew it before going up there? At the bottom of the crystal wall they can see sunglight. Victoria found it, thought it was an exit, drew the map and then climbed up there. We also don't know if the body up there was her, or another princess who also climbed after her.
This movie is so inconsistent with where the story is ending. I thought it wud just end w/ her slaying the dragon & leaving but nope she befriends the dragon & becomes Hiccup 🙄
Am I the only one that actually enjoyed the movie?! It wasn’t perfect but definitely wasn’t as bad as many reviewers are making it out to be. I like MBB’s performance and the cast and the story is decent. The special effects are also good enough to not be too distracting. I liked it.
Actually, the movie was slow and boring from start to finish. It was half an hour before she was thrown into the cave, and after that it was just scene after scene with her running and escaping from the dragon. The setting made no sense. If the sacrifice was for someone with royal blood and they want to fool the dragon, there was no reason to take all that trouble to seek a bride from the faraway land. This was even worse than Joey King's The Princess - the latter was at least more fun. 4 out of 10.
The ending is good but I would have liked the dragon to have destroyed the queen's castle while he had her tied up so that she could suffer little by little watching her ego fall to pieces, the ending was good but could have been perfect 9.0 out of 10 🤭
I enjoy watching it. It has a good start until the confrontation of the dragon and Ellodie kinda letdown specially her father was there too The blood compact thing is kinda questionable... But overall it's good. I really enjoy it 😊
Personally I really liked this movie. It was a nice watch. Id recommend it if you're just looking for something to watch that won't necessarily change your whole life but is still interesting to watch.
i wish the story had more like, she accepts that she cant leave the cave then gets health regeneration by eating snails on daily basis, she tries to outsmart the dragon but i takes time and the dragon keeps toying with her for shit and gigles, a year later after eating a million snails shes finally kills the dragon and get dragon blood on her witch enhances her powers, in the last conversation with the dragon she tells it that it was fooled but she will get revenge for the dragon and all the girls. Now the revenge arc beginns where a neary unkillable Damsel with some fighting skills (fighting a dragon for a year on daily basis) goes on to bring some justice
The cave scenes and one after other surprises are just mind blowing that curing lightningcatter pillar, lightning diamond, map , elodie glowing her locket are just so creative ideas and twist of throwing floria is unoredictable and also dragons vack story is so heart wrenching as you feel her pain
@@abispanner3957 I got tired of watching trailers, they show too much and most of the plot is shown. If I do it's usually first few seconds to see just to see how it may look.
Anyone know what the gold coins thrown into the cave were all about? Seemed it was part of the wedding ceremony but I just couldn't understand the relevance of throwing it down into the cave. Also, was it just me or did she slide uncontrollably forward, dangle helplessly, then slide uncontrollably backward? I watched that scene twice and not only did it not make sense but it didn't look like she slid any other way.
The coin could've just been for believability for the tradition. One could argue that she was already screwed at that point, but it makes it more convenient to throw her in if she's comfortable enough to be picked up by her spouse.
It’s still a great movie but really wanted to see more of the great Angela Basset more screen time. Overall 8.9/10 still recommend because Millie did an amazing job!
Haha... this actually started out surprisingly watchable and then it just got so, so, so, so bad. I guess if you're a tween girl who can handle a little violence, you might like it.
So you telling me that , the trailer was like 9\10 ,I really love it, and the movie is just 3\10 ?.Cant believe it.I have to watch it , for my self.I learn not to trust critics that much , because many movies that I love , have 20% on rottentomatoes 🤣🤣😂😂
It's an enjoyable watch my 13 Yr old brother said its scary 😅. The dragon is really scary too not GOT aesthetically pleasing elegant dragons. She didn't gurlboss her way through she had help so it's great
@@achicha as per say... the last of its Kind. It's kinda dragon-lion. Love it.. i wish it's bulky but i understand she lives in the cave that is why she has a small body fit.
I loved the film. (Spoiler below) It's not a film anything more than what it advertises itself to be: tomboy princess escapes being fed to a dragon, rescues her sister, tricks said dragon, and then takes revenge on the kingdom who has been sacrificing women for power and wealth for countless years. Goes home with pet dragon. The end. It's not that confusing that the critics hated this film, given that the princess literally burns the kingdom to the ground (including her husband--the prince). They probably would have loved it if the princess, after being healed by the glow worms, suddenly gained draconic powers, and by the end of the film became a dragon herself only after killing the original dragon and taking her place.
I thought it was a good movie with interesting plots and story lines that got me hooked throughout as the movie develops, although i wished the second half has mre performance from other actors to make it much mre entertaining as well as wished the ending has mre than just going back home on a ship, like i wanna see what happens next and the abundance of her county afterwards like they could put the dragon as her county protector/guardian due to her understanding the dragon and the dragon became her companion or smth for a change. As well as i wish there was mre going on with the other charcter like they could utilize angela basset to run the county for a few mre scenes to show that her county/village after got abundant after elodyn befriends the dragon and her stepmom stepped up being in charge of the county/village & the dragon became a guardian for her village too or smth like this, as i feel that the movie although v solid and gr8, also is way too focused on one character and the dragon only so much so that i got confused at the ending like is that it??? Typa reaction for the ending....😅😅😅 But 8/10 thou the movie, but if nt for the ending i would give it an 11/10 cuz ending felt ended abruptly 😂😂
The dramatic reveal of Robin Wright was like that because her return to fantasy films. It been a while since we saw Robin in a movie like that after her legendary performance as Buttercup in The Princess Bride.....Austin if you like Angela Bassett performance you and your wife should check her out on the Ryan Murphy hit series 9-1-1.
My problem was the dragon. I suppose we are spoilt with the GOT dragons. This one didn't look powerful at all. Plus I noticed Millie Bobbie Brown was the executive producer. Actors today really want to shape the parts they play. This is the old women don't need knights in shining armour to save them. Trouble is this has become a trope in itself.
Strongly disagree about the dragon. I found this version to be really intriguing. Beastly but with an alien intelligence and ( maybe ) golden blood. Also the actress they choose to play her has a FANTASTIC voice for a dragon. You are entitled to your own opinion but you couldn't just watch the princess dragon movie and not impose your own real world issues on it? It's a princess dragon movie, there is no political agenda to remove male heros from the world. She can save herself.. it's not an issue. Seems like you would be set against liking this movie regardless of anything anyone said. And the trope of the damsel saving herself is not new... look it up.
Because the reality is women--as well as anyone else--may be stuck having to save themselves, even at their worst. Sometimes you gotta dig yourself out of a hole, even if it hurts and danger looms around every corner. Also, this could be a good allusion to getting married into a manipulative/DV relationship and having to save yourself. I know real women who have had to do this on their own and they had to have a lot of grit and strength to get out of those situations, which typically involve children, too. One person I know literally had to walk for miles, no food, no money, to get to safety when she finally left. She later got herself educated and became a business teacher. She was one of my favorites. I had no idea she had gone through this (you'd never guess) until she opened up to our class one day (I think it was related to an assignment we had, but it was deeper than any of us had to go). It was inspiring. She was at her lowest and managed to get herself out of it and come out on top. There are just bada$$ people like that in real life.
Its a fun movie while drinking brandy with my wife. Not every movie needs to be super smart. Most movies with awards are boring anyway. Someone recommended the killer to me the intro was killing me with boredom.
Watched it, yes it does have Nelflix’s touch. And it had some okay scenes. But also at times lazy writing to the flow of the story just to clumsily interject some additional character narrative. Glad it was free streamed because if you paid for it at the theatre you’d feel some disappointment.
And let’s talk about the fact that the movie ripped off the dragon scene from The Hobbit straight from the movie. When Elodie hides and talks with the dragon is oddly similar to The Hobbit The Desolation Of Smaug when Bilbo hides from Smaug. It’s like they took that scene from The Hobbit and tried to do it half baked.
Not a great movie. Predictable, plodding, poor writing of a great idea, terrible horsemanship and shots, not enough back story to make us care about the main character and absolutely gobsmacking great dragon. Shohreh Aghdashloo is always good but truly excellent here.
@@UsmanKhalid-fi7yd I'm old. I've seen so many movies that all the new movies feel like reiterations of old movies. The caves, or labyrinth if you will, were foreshadowed by Elody's drawings. We already knew by the trailers that she would save herself. We saw in the trailers just too many clues. Also, those first few minutes of the film gave away much of what was guessed in the trailers. Honestly, they need to stop making trailers that give away the whole story.
i watched this knowing it probably wasn’t gonna be for everyone. and while i can recognize the obviously flaws like the dialogue but i am also a sucker for fantasy movie with a dragon in it so i ate this movie up

There could have been latinos but they can look black (Cubans, Dominicans, etc) or white (Spaniards, Argentinians, etc). the way her scar moved from left to right and the way her makeup didn't fit the era so weird. the entire time she screamed and the dragon somehow didn't hear her? lol.
A great feminist story where the lead character wins by arguing and the luck of being in exactly the right place at the right time. Who'dve thunk it, modern women expect good things to land at their feet and to always be right.
- It had so much potential, could've went on par with The Hobbit movies. The CGI was okay, the score was good, its just the story felt generic and there was too much drag on Elodie being in the caves trying to escape, like 70% of the movie. - The dragon action sequence was the only exciting thing that had to offer, but there was no character development whatsoever. - My problem is that Elodie felt from that bridge but no broken parts, she was cut and burned with no food or water for couple days at least somehow she magically survives, and then when the moment came to face the dragon, she turned 180 and acquired skills to be a dragon slayer in short amount of time, and the intelligence to do so. - I had nothing against the dragon, but to me its behavior felt more like a human than a real dragon in some parts. - All in all, i think this narrative felt like a direct opposite of what The Snow White were trying to do. Until, the glorious quote "She's not gonna be saved by the prince" becoming apparent, If you know, you know. 😂😅
-The beginning of the movie shows she has axe skills. Axes are heavy and require swing accuracy. It could have played a role in transferring over to sword skills. It also could have been her parent(s) taught her survival skills, especially considering she is the eldest and royalty, and they also live in harsh conditions, so may be expected to know how to wield a sword. -I was wondering if anyone might feel this was a version of GOT, which has the girl and her dragons, whom I understand she also is royalty, is thrown into a crappy situation, and also has to win over her dragons
I'll check this one out, but I can't shake off the idea that Joey King already did this kind of thing with The Princess, which I enjoyed for what it was.

@@noobmasterruben5167why she killed dragon the dragon does not know truth and real antagonist is not dragon
Well her dad did knowingly give her life in exchange for gold so….
Coming to rescue her a full day after the fact does not undo that
Am I the only one that actually enjoyed the movie?!
As soon as the dragon spoke I shouted 'Arcane!'
The dragon was fantastic. Story was fine. The story was cliche with a twist or turn or two. Could have been better but overall was not bad.
The ending is good but I would have liked the dragon to have destroyed the queen's castle while he had her tied up so that she could suffer little by little watching her ego fall to pieces, the ending was good but could have been perfect 9.0 out of 10 🤭
Idk me and the gays watched it together and we all LOVEDDDDD IT.
Not surprised gays would love something that does not show men’s natural masculinity
Millie was the heart of the movie!!❤❤❤
I liked it. The dragon was epic and scary.
Finally a proper review. I am kinda confused because I thought she was Elizabeth Perkins. LOL! The similarity is uncanny.
I liked the film. Appropriate for the fanbase and her age.
I enjoy watching it.
It has a good start until the confrontation of the dragon and Ellodie kinda letdown specially her father was there too
The blood compact thing is kinda questionable...
But overall it's good. I really enjoy it 😊
I thoroughly enjoyed it. it was fun and entertaining to watch Millie Bobby Brown was great 🎬
Personally I really liked this movie.
I loved the movie completely worth watching 10/10 don't judge by these reviews
The cave scenes and one after other surprises are just mind blowing that curing lightningcatter pillar, lightning diamond, map , elodie glowing her locket are just so creative ideas and twist of throwing floria is unoredictable and also dragons vack story is so heart wrenching as you feel her pain
I just wish that they hadn't revealed so much in the trailer, would have defo been up for the twists but we were shown pretty much everything :/
I didn’t see any trailers! I enjoyed it! Guess because I didn’t know what it was about!
@@hardensoul7248 I wish I'd done that 😂
@@abispanner3957 I got tired of watching trailers, they show too much and most of the plot is shown. If I do it's usually first few seconds to see just to see how it may look.
When the queen told somebody to do something, all I could say was:
"Aaaaas youuuuu wiiisssshhhhhh!"
Because....Princess Buttercup is now a queen!
It was genuinely fine. Not great not terrible but fine. You can watch it and have fun.
What a stupid plot, that little girl can stab a dragon... where dozen knights failed
Movie was OK. No masterpiece. But the landscapes, villages and buildings (my beloved Portugal) are awesome.
I think I will actually get angry if watch this movie, based on the sound of underutilizing Angela Bassett and Robin Wright.
It’s still a great movie but really wanted to see more of the great Angela Basset more screen time. Overall 8.9/10 still recommend because Millie did an amazing job!
my fave in this movie, was a dragon ❤️🔥 one the best dragon i had never seen since GOT 😊
Great looking dragon!
Honest... the dragon was damn good done!
Don’t ever compare this to GoT again
The dragon was ish even the dragons in reign of fire was way more better
I just got done watching it and I like it
Haha... this actually started out surprisingly watchable and then it just got so, so, so, so bad. I guess if you're a tween girl who can handle a little violence, you might like it.
Princess Peach vs Browser.
Man I actually loved this movie. I was invested the entire time
I don’t understand the hate on this movie
I love how detailed your scoreboard is. really useful :)
Yeah its no different from Rebel moon. Good trailer trash movie
@@noobmasterruben5167 I have to watch it
The Dragons voice reminds me of
The voice Anna Faris does in the house bunny 😂
This movie was fun. I would agree that the first act was a bit drawn out.
This movie had me on edge through and through and trust me I am not that crazy about movies but listen this was F N top-notch 💪💪💪
I think maybe she could of tried those miricle glowing slugs to bring the dragons babies back 😄
No she could not cause death is not possible to take back. Only injuries are curable duh.
@adamsteidl2110 😆 it's a fantasy movie so it could work duhhhhhĥh
This is the best movie i have seen since Disney fuc-k up , great movie the damsel, the stepmother, the sister.. etc everyone was on point
i’m just confused why the lead in a movie taking place centuries ago has lip filler and soft glam makeup the whole time
haha literally tho she looked yassified the whole time😂
I enjoyed this movie and found It very entertaining.
I think a movie about survival against fantasy mosters would be good. The part where the actress was in the cave was more interesting
Small movie but enjoyable overall
I loved the film. (Spoiler below)
It's not a film anything more than what it advertises itself to be: tomboy princess escapes being fed to a dragon, rescues her sister, tricks said dragon, and then takes revenge on the kingdom who has been sacrificing women for power and wealth for countless years.
Though I Predicted the Story
But It was what is Supposed to Happen
Because it is Justice
I thought it was pretty good. I would watch it again and suggest it to others
It was cute, I enjoyed it. I think you guys are being a bit mean. It was good
I thought it was a good movie with interesting plots and story lines that got me hooked throughout as the movie develops, although i wished the second half has mre performance from other actors to make it much mre entertaining as well as wished the ending has mre than just going back home on a ship, like i wanna see what happens next and the abundance of her county afterwards like they could put the dragon as her county protector/guardian due to her understanding the dragon and the dragon became her companion or smth for a change. Typa reaction for the ending....😅😅😅
But 8/10 thou the movie, but if nt for the ending i would give it an 11/10 cuz ending felt ended abruptly 😂😂
I don’t understand what yall want them to do
Make a better movie
Which dragon sequence is the one you found bad ass?
Honestly the ending that was just bad ass to me
Watched it, yes it does have Nelflix’s touch. And it had some okay scenes. But also at times lazy writing to the flow of the story just to clumsily interject some additional character narrative. Glad it was free streamed because if you paid for it at the theatre you’d feel some disappointment.
I skipped thru about 10 minutes of the beginning, past the wedding part until they started bringing her up the mountain
Thank you for letting us know.
I liked it for what it was. Helps that my expectations for Netflix movies is in the 'harmless popcorn flick' realm. 6/10
Writing is so good the whole cave scene is full of twists with cutting caterpillars , lightning diamonds, map
How you predict the story as there are one after other surprises in cave
@@UsmanKhalid-fi7yd I'm old. I've seen so many movies that all the new movies feel like reiterations of old movies. The caves, or labyrinth if you will, were foreshadowed by Elody's drawings. We already knew by the trailers that she would save herself. We saw in the trailers just too many clues. Also, those first few minutes of the film gave away much of what was guessed in the trailers. Honestly, they need to stop making trailers that give away the whole story.
i watched this knowing it probably wasn’t gonna be for everyone. and while i can recognize the obviously flaws like the dialogue but i am also a sucker for fantasy movie with a dragon in it so i ate this movie up
Mixed review everywhere but this one, Millie doing very good, perhaps the best performance. Oh, is she Natalie Portman daughter or what? Hahahaha.. she is look like the young Natalie Portman.... And this movie is one of the best fantasy movie I ever seen... My rating 4/5 👍👍👍

Agreed. If you ask me, Enola Holmes was better in every way than this abomination
Sorry it's a memorable movie not forgettable the whole cave scenes gives you chills
I can't wait to hear what Ray Winstone has to say about this movie in 3 years and whether he'll be just as passionate about it as he was about his time doing Black Widow.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS MOVIE!
Nah bro, i enjoyed it
I dont like the racist part. They dont include latino characters. We need to be more inclusive.
There could have been latinos but they can look black (Cubans, Dominicans, etc) or white (Spaniards, Argentinians, etc). I wasn't paying attention to the names of the actors, which I imagine would give away heritage (not always, though, since people can marry into names). Were there no latino actors named in the cast?
Dragon made the movie. Voice was incredible. Definitely gave GOT vibes especially at the end.
Okay, but the screaming and grunting was a bit ... Arghhhh! 😜
and she does all this with out a bit of food lol

the way her scar moved from left to right and the way her makeup didn't fit the era so weird. the entire time she screamed and the dragon somehow didn't hear her? lol.
A great feminist story where the lead character wins by arguing and the luck of being in exactly the right place at the right time. Who'dve thunk it, modern women expect good things to land at their feet and to always be right.
I loved this movie
I LOVED this movie!!!!👏👏♥️i get its not everyone's cup of tea, but for me it was!
L9ve how the dragon gets easily distracted, when elodie is around the corner. Toying with her meal, burn her already. Quit yapping, oh Hollywood. 😅
I liked the movie it was entertaining.
I'll check this one out, but I can't shake off the idea that Joey King already did this kind of thing with The Princess, which I enjoyed for what it was.
