I did everything like you say but the screen dosn't roll up like it used to. Noe its like a widow shade that keeps latching part way up and almost impossible to roll up all the way up. btw it seems like its to tight, like its a tiny bit to long and pressing on the door frame.

Sounds like its just time to reorder another one from the factory. You can go to larsondoors.com or visit stormdoorpartswarehouse.com to reorder a replacement. Could be the tensioner spring is bad.

It's a new screen but I figured it out. I had the plastic end pieces turned 90° off. The little springy tab faces up not out. Ooops.

I need to have another look, but when I tried winding mine up I needed to quickly try and jam it into the slot before it unwinds and I couldn't do it when it was wound all the way up. How do you get it to stay when it's wound up?

@@mikemurphyiv I did just like this video displayed. I went around 1 more than the directions stated, then slowly unwound and after about 2 of 2 1/2 TURNS, it did catch, and I could let it go.

@@mikemurphyiv once its wound you have to turn it from bing horizontal to more vertical. Then it should "catch" and stay wound up before you remove the pliers otherwise it will snap back and unwind again.

Should that spring come apart? Larson sent a replacement b/c their old one snapped, and the spring end came out of the rest when I opened the package. Not sure if it came broken, or something I can work with. Thanks!

Yes, that spring can come out of the tube as long as it doesn't separate from the white cap itself.
Just reinstall it back in the tube appropriately and retighten if you need to.

I understand that the spring needs to be rotated clockwise- but after a couple of turns it springs back - am I missing something?

There's some sort of internal locking mechanism i haven't been able to figure out. You have to hold the screen mor vertically than horizontally after tightening, like say at the 10-11 o'clock position. It will unwind a little, but something catches internally and it locks into place.

What’s the difference between the Larson Tradeswinds retractable screen and the Larson Lakeview retractable screen ? Thanks

Same door just private labeled. No difference in screens.

If your screen has been over extended, could you take it out and try this?
