One of my ham-footed buddies caught my left crash pad cover with his heel and tore it at the top. To be fair, the canvas was 20 years old and was weakened by the sun. I'd been dreading this little replacement chore but all I needed was this video, Ron's crash pad cover and pad set, and a tube of 3M contact adhesive. I hit upon the idea of using a piece of plywood about the size of the pads and a pair of furniture clamps to compress the new pads. This made the covers so much easier to install. The foam pads needed trimming to size but this was easily accomplished with a hacksaw blade. Anyway, success, and the new pads look great. They're even a nice match for my existing seat covers. Thanks!
Is that seam at the forward pointed face of the canvas like the original? I would assume they would always put a seam at the backside? And how was it fitted to the backplate originally? As well with glue? Would be interesting to know.. Thanks for the nice video again.
Thank you Scott! I am preparing my body tub (holes) and all the accessories before I can get the body ready to paint. This really helps a lot. I am installing the crash pads on the CJ3A/ M38 restomod #SnugglesTheJeep for my grandson who has CP and a bit of left side paralysis. I believe that the crash pads will make it a bit more comfortable for him riding and entering and exiting the vehicle. Thanks again!

Hello Team G503 Restoring A 1943 Willys MB Army Jeep and Mr Schiller! Wow! 0:00, Mr. Schiller is the best! Thank you for the video! Merry Christmas!
Thanks Scott
First class Scott
About how thick is the foam you used? My foam seems to be very thick, I don't have the extra canvas that you have in order to fold over
Scott, how did you mark the holes to drill the the body for the crash pads (I know, not a safety device!). Many thanks.
The ones I used were the original holes.
I believe you can find the measurements on the website jeepdraw.
