    Mouse droppings is something you are supposed to use bleach on. I'm afraid of it, but more afraid of hanta virus, which at the time I had never heard of) Mask up, glove up, then clean up with bleach. My dad had a barn and there were the kind of mice that carry it. (Deer mice, orange and white. I saw them around the camper. ). I was living in a camper and went on vacation. When I came back, I happened to look underneath the burners. A mouse had built a ball shaped nest out of fluffed up toilet paper. Interspersed within the fluff were pinto beans, 20 or 30. He had broken open the bag (It was on the floor). It was sort of adorable. I cleaned up the mouse poop laying around without a mask or gloves. It probably wasn't a deer mouse, just a grey mouse, but I had bronchitis for 13 days. I went to the doctor and really had to do some heavy pursuasion to get him to give me an antibiotic. Later I realized that with the 25 horses, peacocks, chickens, dogs and cats on the farm, there were tons of bacteria that could latch onto my lungs which were raw and irritated from coughing from the virus. A couple days after starting the antibiotics, the coughing stopped.

    Hi, I am new to watching your channel, love it so far...I live in Delta, British Columbia, Canada (on west coast near Vancouver) I watch a lot of cleaning channels and one I watch is a lady in England. She talked about a product called Zoflora which is a cleaner I found a store near to me that sells the product and it comes in small concentrated little bottles that you put the product into a spray bottle and add water to it give it a few swishes (swirl the bottle around a bit to mix is what I mean) then use the product. It says it kills bacteria. I don't know if they sell Zoflora in your area but if they do I would love to see how well it stands up to your testing. I found my Zoflora at a store called the British Store so maybe you might have something like that near you.

    I do have a question out of curiousity. You mentioned that you let it sit for 6 minutes according to instructions but most people don't want to wait that long. So my curiousity is making me ask have you thought of testing the bleach to see how well it performs at say 5 minutes or even 4 minutes?

    • @FieldOfFocus

    I think I might be using bleach slightly wrongly, in Greece we call it chlorine, I thing it's the same as bleach, its usually dulated 3-6% NaClO depending on the brand, I use it undulated and I always leave the room since the smell is horrible and I also consider it carcinogenic, there is also different type of product that's like a gel not sure about the NaClO percentage thought.

    • @FieldOfFocus
      @FieldOfFocus  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Does it have any directions on your bottle? In the US, Clorox (the brand bleach that I use that needs to be diluted) also makes a ready to use spray. That ready to use spray is 1.84% NaClO sodium hypochlorite. The bottles that need to be diluted are 4.5-7.5% sodium hypochlorite. Maybe the brand of your bleach has a website you can check.

      @@FieldOfFocus fantastic. I use the disinfecting concentration from the gallon concentrate. 5oz Odoban to 59oz water. So am not sure if concentration would play a role. Do we know what dilution the ready made bottles are? I make up my own solution to refill spray bottles. Also, I will use full strength comparable to bleach for cat towels in the wash.
      Interesting that Odoban concentrate specifically mentions FIP virus which is a coronavirus. I asked Odoban if the product would kill Covid virus. They said they never tested it so could not verify but killing one coronavirus should kill another coronavirus.

      That is a great question. I have always made bleach solution fresh. When I worked with HIV in a lab, we were required to make our bleach solution fresh every day. But it would be good to see with home bacteria if it lasts for longer than 24 hours. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Can you test fabuloso? It's the only floor cleaner I can you that doesn't leave my floor streaky . Sometimes I use vinegar and dawn.

    Had no idea about the 6 min wait time. Having bleach around concerns me since I don't want it dripping on and permantly damaging fabrics, carpets, oriental rugs etc. My last cleaning company just bleached the shape of the bottom of my soap dispenser on my bathroom vanity chair.

      I also do not want to damage fabrics with bleach and use it sparingly in my home. The wait time surprised me a bit.. I would have guessed it was 1 minute... I might have to test that! Thanks for your continued support!

    I would like to add my support to a few comments and also ask if you would be willing to try bleach again but vary the dwell time to see what the results are.

      I agree. I am going to try just spray and wipe ... then see where the results lead me!

    I also have septic and am not crazy about the smell of bleach. I see others have suggested trying variations. Here's my suggestion. Less bleach in the dilution. I think companies like us to use a lot of their product, need it or not. While I appreciate the recommended contact time studies, I wonder if a lesser dilution may fare as well. I'm enjoying your content!

      I will add it to my suggestion list! For most tests I just follow the written manufacturer's suggestions, but I totally see your point!

      I think the best way to learn how to test is to work in a lab to get proper microbiology training. :)
