    This fire pit is one of a few covered pits that is on the list th-cam.com/users/postUgkxAU9pOCSV9Y5JprooHvfxTpOrt4hx8uRM of approved products for Disney Fort Wilderness. The product served its purpose well and provided excellent fires throughout the evening. We were able to open the door and do s'mores, but I had to be careful because the handle was a bit hot on occasions. Additionally, I wish they had replaced some of the standard nuts with lock nuts in some places. We lost the door handle after just a couple of days of usage. Not a deal breaker, just a recommendation. I still give it 5 stars.

    The glass door is beautiful. I got one from a friends yard, his house was built in the late 1850s. I don't know if it was in the house, I found it in the woods. Boy was it a pain to move. It's now in my grandma's backyard, she loves it. :)

    Have an eye on an Aspen that's available for $100; I'm totally capable of doing everything you did and now I feel more confident. In our neck of the woods, a wood stove is practically a necessity because we lose power often - and heat with an electric mini-split. This will be the perfect back-up for our log cabin, and I thank you!

    Very nice. Bought a floor model (Aspen) in Gainesville for about a grand in 2010. It never worked right. After 10 years of smoldering and creosote buildup I took it out frustrated. Put my old Birmingham no 20 back in.
    Now I'm learning that there may be blockages of cement in all the air flow channels from the factory. So I'm going to try and take it apart and see.
    Hope to make it right and look as good as yours does now.
    It looks great. Thanks for sharing all that. I e?enjoyed watching.

    Just think if v c would've made large version of this stove capable of taking a 26 inch logs
    I lived in the calving room of an old dairy barn ,that had been converted to liveing quarters. There was a local shop going out of business and i bought a brand new green porcelain dipped vc aspen for 550 dollar's .l installed it in the barn apartment on a brick floor . Safety pipe had already been put in through the whole legth of the bottom floor through the loft

    No restoration done at all here. He cleaned a stove, thats it. And most everything he did was wrong per factory specs. Its really a shame, because to get the most out of those old crappy 1920’s, you need to fully rebuild it. Its of the worst designs for a VC stove, and they changed it rightfully to make it better. He says “the same stove new costs 1600”. Untrue. The new stove is the C3, which is leaps and bounds better than this 1920.
    All in all Im happy you tried, just a lot of mis information here.

    I have 4 woodburning stoves/cookers !
    3 kids plus me in a 10m square house 2 floors.
    Usually we only have the main cook stove going in the kitchen. Even when minus 10c outside. Loads of duvets and sleeping with socks on, smile.
    When it got down to minus 20c we used to fire up the big boy and everything down stairs got a bit too hot , plus 28c. Hence the 2 smaller cooker stoves upstairs in bedrooms as allowed them to make tea and cook if they wanted to, as long as they carried the wood upstairs and the ash down. LOL
    Your little boy is very like the stoves that the locals use to heat a, say 10m-15m square space, easily. But they dont stay in long, about 2-3 hours, because of the small fire box, unless you put coal on it about 10pm should last until about 6 am, then just raddle it a bit and chuck on new new logs.
    As steel absorbs heat and transmits it too well, think of saucepans. I would be worried about using it as a heat shield in s wooden building. I dont know about modern materials. I have only ever lived in traditionally built houses, so cement, bricks and stone (especially the igneous) act as heat sinks and fire protection.
    Personally I would build a brick container ( hearth and chimney) around you stove. To absorb heat and protect the wood structure.
    Anyway I loved the vid.

    • @AndrewSzeto
      @AndrewSzeto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh crap... usually for any screws that are stripped and weird like that, the solution is usually to drill them out. sounds like you'll need some accuracy around the glass though.

    • @jacksimper5725
      @jacksimper5725 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Look on yt for seized/broken stud removal tips. Try using heat first and or penetrating fluid , if that does not work then Small hole in centre gradually going up to close to thread depth ,then fit screw removal tool(set costs pennies),clean thread with original tap size . Get new screws and coat with anti seize /copper grease and refit. whilst your glass is out clean it with a damp cloth dipped in ash from fire then polish with cloth . It pays to fit new seals if refurbishing or every few years as they harden up .and check the state of the firebrick inside,if broken replace if you can .or make your own using broken as template .

    Hi Szeto, around the stove... you may want to do some mosaic tile on the backer board.
    Even if there is already cement board up, you can do some fun tile work on the 1/4” hardie board (while it is on a flat surface).. just leave a couple tiles out in strategic places so you can screw it securely.. then once it is in place you can put the tiles in with an epoxy or furnace cement, etc.The 1/4” hardboard is light and could go on the T&G without too much engineering.
    Great work, attitude and way about you.. comes through in your content. Cute dog too.. the Pup’s jacket/ coat is nice, where is that from? Peace, and take care.

    Nice job on the stove refurbishing. Did you install a ceiling support box when transitioning at the ceiling from the interior stove pipe to the exterior chimney pipe? the stove pipe itself is not supposed to go through the roof. Interior clearance - If you used a double wall stove pipe I believe 6" of wall clearance is what is needed and if its single wall 18" of wall clearance. Im no expert and Im just trying to help if I could, please verify before proceeding.
