@@AndrewSzeto I actually called this company in October of 2020 to get the black stove pipe to set up my Vermont Castings Vigilante, because of this reply. They charged me $183.26 USD for 3 small pieces of single wall stove pipe, and they were going to charge me another $90 plus tax for a part they already charged me the shipping for which they said they would have in a week. Turns out they sent me parts that were wrong, and I went to a local Ace hardware, and they sold me the right pipe for $31 plus tax and I bought a can of that imperial stove black for $4.99. Then this company you linked to wanted me to pay a 15% restocking fee plus return shipping that I already over paid for and they said they wouldn't have that oval to round adapter till January! If I waited, they would probably tell me that they won't have it till Feb. They are real jerks to deal with. Everybody told me I WAY over paid. Save yourself a lot of trouble and money and don't deal with them. They are a total screw job, and they are not by far the only game in town.
@@HollywoodCreeper omg, i am soo sorry. I did not have a similar experience, but this is good to know for future correspondence. I guess I got lucky. I do try and buy imperial everything if I can (likely available at home depot), but yeah I made the order and got lucky I guess. sorry again.
@@AndrewSzeto Hi Andrew, No problem. It's not your fault! I just wanted to let people know that these guys cost a lot and can be bad to deal with. They are called Cozy Cabin in Warrensburg, NY. My local Home Depot had no chimney pipe. My local Ace Hardware sold Imperial pipe and it was like $10.49 for a 2 foot section and $23 for a 4 foot section of single wall. Keep up the good videos.
I have 4 woodburning stoves/cookers ! 3 kids plus me in a 10m square house 2 floors. Usually we only have the main cook stove going in the kitchen. Even when minus 10c outside. Loads of duvets and sleeping with socks on, smile. When it got down to minus 20c we used to fire up the big boy and everything down stairs got a bit too hot , plus 28c. Hence the 2 smaller cooker stoves upstairs in bedrooms as allowed them to make tea and cook if they wanted to, as long as they carried the wood upstairs and the ash down. LOL Your little boy is very like the stoves that the locals use to heat a, say 10m-15m square space, easily. But they dont stay in long, about 2-3 hours, because of the small fire box, unless you put coal on it about 10pm should last until about 6 am, then just raddle it a bit and chuck on new new logs. As steel absorbs heat and transmits it too well, think of saucepans. I would be worried about using it as a heat shield in s wooden building. I dont know about modern materials. I have only ever lived in traditionally built houses, so cement, bricks and stone (especially the igneous) act as heat sinks and fire protection. Personally I would build a brick container ( hearth and chimney) around you stove. To absorb heat and protect the wood structure. Anyway I loved the vid.
thank you soo much! this stove has been working really well thank goodness! your account on things is great for context moving forward! thanks again and happy firday!
Nice job on the stove refurbishing. Did you install a ceiling support box when transitioning at the ceiling from the interior stove pipe to the exterior chimney pipe? the stove pipe itself is not supposed to go through the roof. Interior clearance - If you used a double wall stove pipe I believe 6" of wall clearance is what is needed and if its single wall 18" of wall clearance. Im no expert and Im just trying to help if I could, please verify before proceeding.
No restoration done at all here. He cleaned a stove, thats it. And most everything he did was wrong per factory specs. Its really a shame, because to get the most out of those old crappy 1920’s, you need to fully rebuild it. Its of the worst designs for a VC stove, and they changed it rightfully to make it better. He says “the same stove new costs 1600”. Untrue. The new stove is the C3, which is leaps and bounds better than this 1920. All in all Im happy you tried, just a lot of mis information here. -Someone who owns an actual stove restoration shop.
Hi Szeto, around the stove... you may want to do some mosaic tile on the backer board. Even if there is already cement board up, you can do some fun tile work on the 1/4” hardie board (while it is on a flat surface).. just leave a couple tiles out in strategic places so you can screw it securely.. then once it is in place you can put the tiles in with an epoxy or furnace cement, etc.The 1/4” hardboard is light and could go on the T&G without too much engineering. Great work, attitude and way about you.. comes through in your content. Cute dog too.. the Pup’s jacket/ coat is nice, where is that from? Peace, and take care.

hiya Jo! it's a big patio stone i got from home depot! it was like $10. have fun!!
Where did you get the hinges???
i got them from here: www.vermontcastings.parts/shopexd.asp?id=4
@@AndrewSzeto Hi Andrew,
No problem.
LOL
Your little boy is very like the stoves that the locals use to heat a, say 10m-15m square space, easily.
Anyway I loved the vid.
thank you soo much! this stove has been working really well thank goodness! your account on things is great for context moving forward! thanks again and happy firday!
great job
cheers co mo!
And it’s complete 👍
Nice job on the stove refurbishing. Did you install a ceiling support box when transitioning at the ceiling from the interior stove pipe to the exterior chimney pipe? the stove pipe itself is not supposed to go through the roof. Interior clearance - If you used a double wall stove pipe I believe 6" of wall clearance is what is needed and if its single wall 18" of wall clearance. Im no expert and Im just trying to help if I could, please verify before proceeding.
Tony J yep! got the support box for sure! thanks a ton for checking this out and checking in ✌🏼
No restoration done at all here.
-Someone who owns an actual stove restoration shop.
right on nick! good to know! it does the job for now, would love to pick up a new one for sure! can you drop a link to your store? cheers!
The chimney is crooked but it's well good.
Peace, and take care.
thanks a ton! I've got the hardboard up everywhere now, plus some pipe shields as well. It's all doing a much better job now :) Atlas' coat was purchased by my mom haha, looking on amazon, there are a bunch just like it!
Dude... Almost missed your upload... Ever wondered about putting your logo in The thumbnail?
And im shocked Again and Again about The lack of subs... Your storytelling is so f##king good. Lots of love from sweden.
ooh not a bad idea! i still mostly have no clue what i'm doing haha. but great idea! can i still add that now...? hmmm..
ps. thanks soo much for checking this!
what did you do for the fire control in the back? it looked broken
Michael Ferrara oh it’s been replaced! bought a fresh back plate and the install of it was in here
Ficou muito bom! Parabéns pelo trabalho.
Be careful with that window trim at the rear of the stove. Also any plastic window parts. May have to add another small shield at the back. Otherwise, very nice job.
i totally added a bunch of shields back there. it's been good!
Latex gloves took a beating on that rusty cast iron.
How heavy is that thing?
Nahoc according to the website, it’s 240 lbs!
Such a great video! Love the fire butt crack!! i about fell out of my chair! What are you doing with your old stove? I have looked at that same Gstove and wanted one badly!
Jeff Rowe i’m keeping it for a sauna!
@@AndrewSzeto Sweet!! Great idea!
