Had the pleasure of watching a live 60min demonstration before a Pro Am round featuring Lee. 1000% entertainment, funnier than ANY comic and then we watched his ball striking clinic. Never forget it.
The most charismatic and likeable golf legend there’s ever been. He comes from humble beginnings and became one of the fiercest competitors, and best ball strikers in the game. Undoubtedly one of the all time greats of golf, and possibly, an even better human being. It would be a tremendous honour to meet this great champion. Love you Lee, may God bless you forever.

If I could play 9 holes with any golfer, Trevino would be my pick. I think you could learn more about golf and life from this man in 9 holes than you could learn on your own in a lifetime. Love listening to him speak and all his stories!
There are many great players today but none of them will stand the test of time to the likes of Palmer, Nicklaus, Player and Trevino in the 1960's through the 70's. Great ambassadors of golf these men were to the game. Their history will never again be repeated.
Definition of Class. In the third round of the 71 Open at Merion, Trevino was paired with Jim Simon who would shoot a 65. Trevino saw that Simon's ball was teed in front of the tee box. A two stroke penalty. Lee told him saying, "Son, This course is tough enough without incurring a two stroke penalty."
Lee has three talents at least: Golf, Story Telling, and Time Shrinking....these 43 minutes seemed to go by like it was 10. What a great interview...Thanks for Posting.
True Story: Jack and Lee were paired together in a tournament. On the first tee Jack says to Lee: "Lee, I don't want to talk today". Lee says to Jack: "Jack, you don't have to talk. You just have to listen."
I watched Lee at Torrent Pines when I lived in San Diego. The only golfer I could compare him with was another great golfer who was funny as hell also, Chi Chi Rodriguez. Both gave much more back to humanitarian causes than most but came from poor backgrounds and never forgot it and helped many many people in their life travels. God bless both you gentlemen. RESPECT TO YOU BOTH!!!
I remember Chi Chi, with his putter sword. Who don't love their personalities. Arnie Was great with the people Jack & Tiger are not really into entertaining the fans other then their great skills
If at all possible this little Canadian boy would be ever so grateful and gracious just to spend some time with a great person one of the best players ever and truly a great human. Thank you Lee Trevino my late mother would cheer for you no matter what , she say you had moxy lol . Cheers Tom Lomonte
living in NJ i watched Lee play at 11 different tournaments here in NJ.. he always played well and won alot here and said he always loved playing in this state...i was just amazed watching him play golf and hit balls...more than once i saw him let a spectator come onto the practice range and hit one of his clubs while warming up...he was as good an entertainer as he was a golfer..
One of the four greatest strikers of the golf ball to this day. Hogan, Nelson, Snead and Trevino. He had such an unusual swing but it worked because his body rotation was so powerful it counteracted his strong grip. Probably the funniest man ever to play the game as well. Good to see that he has done so much for charity as well.
Tiger and Jack…..you don’t win that many times without being a great ball striker….but yes, all those guys….but I will bet both Tiger and Jack would be better than any of them if you were to measure them in their primes.
A true legend, loved by all golfers on this planet earth, Talks a lot, but his honesty is second too none, I could listen too this great man all day and love him like he was my own son, his golf is not too bad neither!
My, what a history of golf! His discourse alone is worth a lot. His having mingled with so many famous pros gives us an insight into the world of golf that likely exceeds what we could get into any other sport.
My favorite Trevino story was he liked to cut his own grass when he was home. One Saturday he was cutting grass and a big Cadillac pulled up and this lady rolled down her window and called him over. She asked how much the lady in the house paid him to cut her grass. Lee replied this lady let’s me sleep with her. The Cadillac rushed away.
The best striker of a goif ball I have seen in my lifetime bar none, always good to listen to and what a gentleman, I watched him warm up at the 1984 Open hitting balls at various targets and distances and the ball never got above 12 feet in the air.
I grew up watching Lee Trevino TV show on Sundays. Lee would interview two celebrities while playing a round of golf. The celebrity could get Lee to hit one shot per hole. Very entertaining show. Lee was such a showman for the game.
I won the All Marine Golf Championship in 1997 at Camp Pendleton, CA. It was one of his home courses during his time in the Marines. The course had a shrine dedicated to him in the clubhouse. Most people don't know this, but he never won the All Marine Championship because he never competed in it. Although he did win almost every other Armed Forces Tournament he ever competed in. But one thing I've always wanted to do if I ever get a chance to meet him is say, "Hey there Mr. Trevino. Did you know I've won the All Marine Golf Championship; something you never did during your time in the Corps?" But I'm sure his comeback would be, "Well son, that's great, but how many US Opens have you ever won?" 😁 Probably the only guy left on earth I really want to meet before I check out. Semper Fi Mr. Trevino.
best SHOTMAKER ever. ICONIC GENIUS. NEVER be another like him. I witnessed him hit a shot at Birkdale . the ball traveled 190 yards , never rose above 20 ft & checked up next to the Flagstick. INCREDIBLE.
Lee's comment after aceing the 17th hole at PGA West at the Skins Game winning $175,000 from Palmer, Nicklaus and Zoeller. "Well, hell, that's what I was aiming at."
This man is a living legend. He will help the little MAN or WOMAN wherever possible. He needs more accolades bestowed on him. He helps others because he wants to..
Lee used to come to Ft. Smith, AR Fianna Hills CC and bring people such as Chi Chi Rodriguez and support the boys home. It was great walking 18 holes with him and the others. Yes, I saw Lee's clubs up close and it was exactly as he said. Lead tape all over them and none of them matched lol.
March 23, 2020, and I'm looking at 32 thumbs down. Proof that some people dislike EVERYTHING, and you can not please them with ANYTHING. Thumbs up to the 336 thumbs up folks!
Newman Fertig - look at most TH-cam videos. There are always about 5-10% of the upvote numbers are downvotes. What does this say? It’s says the 5-10% of people are not nice.
Lee T revino is a lovely but tough person l had the pleasure of meeting when he played Sandwell golf course in West Bromwich on outskirts of Birmingham England after giving a clinic He was great! Asked about the pressure of being a Professional golfer he said that a Pro player shooting par has as much chance of success as a dog chasing a car! John Turner , Powys
Lee is absolutely correct that the 125 exemptions needs to be cut way back so that more young talent has a chance to play. If you are the new guy who comes in at 125 you dont get to play in many of the tournaments because there are less slots available than there are exemptions when you combine the 125 rule with the other non-125 related exemptions.
I remember as a kid in Florida the early 70's when coors wasn't sold west of the Mississippi...someone had a case at a party in the woods once and we thought we were drinking champagne.
The difference between Trevino and Gary Player is so clear. Such a naturally funny man who is modest despite all he's done. Whereas Player spends more time boasting about himself that anything else
they all had egos. have you ever noticed when theses legends are asked about another golfer such as tiger, they praise him, but they cant help throwing something in there about themselves. never met trivino, but rumor has it that he was not a very nice person off the coure when the camera was off
Couldn't be more wrong. When the light is on, Trevino is all show. When not, he is an ass. I used to caddie at the Golf club of GA when they had a Senior event and Trevino would come in every year and complain about everything. Player would go around and thank the staff. I also met Gary in 1990 on the way to the U.S. Open at Oak Hill and he couldn't of been nicer.
In 1978 I saw a man say if there is a God, strike me dead by lightning! This was in a shipyard right before a thunderstorm. 3 days later lightning struck the boom of a crane ricocheted off struck ship we were working on, knocked myself & several other men to the ground & killed the 27 year old man who said that. I'm a devout believer in my Lord, Jesus Christ & my back is messed up now. God listens intently to the things we say.
Do you have an example as I don't really get what you mean exactly. And just to give him a bit of a break is maybe this to think about. Many of the greats in anything in life must have giant egos when you finally see that your the best in the entire world at something don't you think, and that ego sometimes surfaces in daily activities.
I'm sorry to hear that, I really am, but let me just suggest this to you. Lee was a very poor kid with nothing at all, even to the point of no water or electricity so it took time for him to start being a better human being I guess. I grew up with drunks for parents and I never started be a really good person until about 34 years old. Lee is much better at it now I think.
Got Lee's autograph, British Open in the early 70's, was 5,or 6 yrs.old. Got Gary Players, Jack Nicholas, Tom Watson, etc. Autographs ???, Can remember how Special Lee was, nearly Always, around the Green And a good guy, a man's man. Prof. Bandit 650i B.T,E. out.

My Dad, who I can assure you was no kind of engineer, always sliced. He had a set of Hogans. Speed slot Hogans. So one day, sitting on the tee of our number 8, a 215 yard par 3, waiting on the foursome in front of us, suddenly started mumbling to himself about how he could close the face of that driver, and suddenly brought his knee up and his Hogan driver down across it and gave a mighty tug about 10” above the hossel, then teed off straight as a string! He never sliced again. (And I’m pretty sure my Dad didn’t know Lee Trevino)
@D Whe This is nothing new, Walter Hagen was forced to dress in the parking lot at the Open championship in the 20s. Because he was a pro and not a amateur( before he won of 4 of them). Masters is private owned facility. A few years ago, a spectator for some reason decided to take some sand from a bunker. He was fined $20,000 and charged for theft. Este señor me cae mal porque no eso el esfuerzo de hablar el idioma de su abuelos
An absolute joy to watch, thanks Lee Trevino.
Humble champ. "I was not jack's rival. Jack had no rivals, he set the bar".

Great striker yes. Not sure he is the best ever. Ballesteros and Hogan might have something to say about that if they were still alive.
What a guy. Enjoyed the watch.

This modern tour needs far more Lee Trevino's than any Tiger Woods. Lee is a great caring man.
Lee was a dour character for years and years. You wouldn't want to run across him as a fan that's for sure.

Absolute class act... He is the man
Can you imagine a Lee Trevino joining all the vanilla golfers today. What a crowd he would have no matter how well he was playing.
👍👍👍👍yes so boring now.
