The heavy D video is why I started following this channel. Been following heavy D for a long while. And again, I’m glad I started over from the beginning, because the lead up to this video makes sense, and was worth it!
I laughed out loud when Trevor puts the tire O rings around his neck then does his Mr. T imitation “I pity the fool!” A classic!

Mr. T.. The character from the A Team.. Was one of my very few childhood heroes. I'd leave the phrase to Mr. T.
I think he only did that in that moment because all of the rubber O-rings he had hanging around his neck reminded him of Mr. T on the "A-Team", whenever he would say that, because he always had all of those heavy gold chains around HIS neck all the time, lol!
I would just like to say I really admire Matt and the life he has built for himself and his family. When he told heavy D he's available anytime, it just made me think. he gets to play around off roading every day, he has an awesome group of family and friends to enjoy it with everyday, he lives comfortably, he gives back on a regular basis in many different capacities and manages to remain one of the most humble and grounded people I know of that's famous in the internet. What a flex that is.

not to mention that MORR employs a bunch of his family and locals, and most of their business is tourists (both recoveries and youtube, in a way), so they're just pumping money into the local economy out there.

@@peterjackson2622 yah he tells the insurance company’s that the people he recovers are on roads. So the insurance covers it and people don’t have to pay out of pocket.

My uncle had the same model International he bought second hand at auction in the early 60s. It had a van body on it that he removed and set it in yard of his shop to be converted into an office for his book keeper. He mounted a hydraulic crane and a old Lincoln arc welder on the frame. Uncle George did a lot of ornamental iron and some structural steel work in the west Los Angeles area. I worked for him on my summer vacations, starting when I was 12, to the time I started college. He was a great guy and my mothers favorite brother. When we worked together he would tell stories of his time in the army. He saw his first combat in North Africa. After Africa he ended up in Sisley and then up the boot of Italy into France and Germany. With all that weight on it hat old International it would top out at about 35mph. We did a valve job on it and picked up another 6 mph. Great memories and I was a lucky kid to have him and a great dad in my life.
Now all I can picture is Matt and HeavyD, on the phone late at night, whispering sweet recovery stories to help each other fall asleep.

In Finland the offroad enthusiast have the "sodacan standard". We want to see how many sodacans can you stack under the rockers (and axles). It gives some perspective.

Wow, there's so much going on right now. The Golden Nugget & it's support act the Rokon & trailer about to be revealed. Then we've got the wrecker coming together & the job with Heavy D & his crew. It's a crazy time! Thankfully I've just caught up & finished watching all the clips you've done so far. It's taken a little while as I had to deviate to others like Fab Rats, Robby Layton, Bikes and Beards to get all the stories in order. Now I just have to sneak in to catch up on all their clips as well as trail mater, Bleepin Jeep, HeavyDSparks, MischiefMakerTV, Rudys Adventure & Design & our favourite customer Jillian's Adventures Think I'll get though them in a few years. LOL! It's sure been an epic ride so far watching the channel grow from humble beginnings filmed on a phone to a full blown production & editing crew. Can't wait to see where MORR & friends take us all next.

I myself have been wanting to see Matt and HD work together on a recovery, let alone seeing the comments of others wanting to see it! It will be the biggest shot of mental satisfaction for both channels! As a recovery man myself, it would be a honor to one day do a recovery with these guys.

HeavyD needs to take classes on recovery, rigging, and safety - I had to unsubscribe from his channel because I couldn't watch them do stupid stuff the hardest way possible while breaking gear and being unsafe. Enthusiasm is no substitute for knowledge and experience...
I really hope he doesn’t have Heavy D on the channel. Don’t need his type of “enthusiasm” or “character” on this channel. He’s a jerk that does most of his videos for clout.

Enjoying your stuff! We did everything you could possibly do back in the ‘70s in Indiana. Not much modification. Tires, lift kits, etc. I had a ‘76 and a ‘77 FJ 40. We trashed them at the many coal strip mines. We rolled them, flipped them, buried them in mud holes, etc. Lots of tugging’ and winchin’! We didn’t photograph much, as we simply didn’t care. We used our ONLY means of transportation to trash whenever we could. I totaled the ‘76, rebuilt it, heavily modified.. Won 3rd in the Vigo County tractor pull, modified..
Keep up your great work. Heading back out there to play in the Manti-La Sal in October. Bringing the inflatable to cruise my favorite Lake Powell, hopefully not the last.. We’ll give ya a hoot. I’ll challenge Rudy to a bow ride at full throttle!

I haven't seen 2 piece rims since my '68 Ford F-250. After a split rim blew off I spent the money on 2 piece rims just after they became available at my favorite parts store. Solidly built, and they were still on it 15 years later when I sold it to get my '90 Ford Ranger which has 15" solid rims all around and the same spare when I bought it. I rotate them all myself because I do it differently than others.
Viewers responded, now 100k likes. Overnight camping at that spot would be another crazy video lol. Looking forward for it
This build just shows what you can do if you have a vision, the supply chain and money to bring it to life. So many hours of work involved in this build, but I want to see what the new wrecker will be able to do.

I think a central tyre inflation system would make a massive difference in the capabilities of this wrecker seeing as it will be hauling varying loads across different terrain
It would be neat, but complicates things/adds point of failure, and they have on board air plus they are not getting shot at so they have the time to stop and adjust as necessary 😂
@@jamesb11637 modern systems are pretty robust and they should be easy to disable right at the tyre if some part of the system were to fail. But yeah, on board air does add complexity.

I’ve totally enjoyed watching every episode of the Heavy Wrecker build so far. Figured at some point I’d have to watch all of them again. Then it dawned on me that that project needed something over the top: HEAVY WRECKER: THE MOVIE!
The new wheel tire combo really gives the wrecker RC crawler proportions and I would love to see someone make a scale replica of this when it’s all finished. Can’t wait to see the finished product and keep up the great work

After 100 miles I recommend re-tourqing those bolts. Big wheels like that like to come loose, especially with the amount of power you're gonna put through them. as well as water can collect in the seal where the O-ring is and cause rust which will eventually lead to an air leak. But all in all, the only way this thing will look more badass is when it's done. Keep up the great work.
When you say bolts you mean lug nuts?
@@jrrains lugnuts, Plus all the BOLTS that hold the wheel halves together.
I have seen a few of these in the past couple years at night...go out in the country, away from city light pollution and lay on your back and watch the sky...you'll be amazed at what you actually see in the night sky. I have seen objects similar to that, that have a slow bright to dim light sequence, but it's not flashing or strobing it just slowly transitions between low to higher light and it's extremely smooth. I've seen quite a few of those...I honestly wish I had equipment that could record it and pick it up.
I think We all should share the hospitality that is shown by the great content of these Utah TH-camrs. I wish I was one of them, just to be there for the adventure!

The timeless lines that the IH cab and hood give to this project is unmatched in the real world of recovering. It's so refreshing to see it come together.. classic lines, with modern mechanical madness.. it will no doubt do justice off road.
Maybe add a TPMS so you can monitor the pressure on those tyres in real time, it might help you know what kind of load you're lifting.
You may also want to consider a load cell on the lifting arm so you can see what the weight is?

I look forward to the wrecker build every Sunday like I used to with Sunday morning cartoons a s a kid. It looks amazing the proportions are extreme! Those tires really set it off, and I cannot wait till next Sunday to see more of the build. The best part is we will see this thing doing recoveries soon!
That thing is awesome. Seeing this done and Ed getting his suzuki back, is going to break the internet. Weld some tabs for a hi-lift jack to fit, in case you ever need to change tires on the trail.
FYI tip for VERY large tire removal and replace. Put a piece of plywood with some grease on it just barely under the tire and it will slide right off and on. Some adjustment required to get the right height.

I remember one of the first vids I watched of Matt when he described why the Jeep was perfect for what he did because of the weight. I'm curious now how the new build will stack up when it comes to lbs squared on such a wide footprint. It is a beautiful monster.
I'm pretty sure he talked about that's one of the reasons for the giant tires, the contact patch on those tires is huge so all that weight gets distributed over a big area.
According to his rough estimates at least this vehicle will very possibly have a lighter footprint than the jeep and definitely lighter than the morrvair.
