- Home is where the heart is. For a seafarer, signing off means pure happiness, excitement and a blissful moment. After spending some time at sea away from family, this is the time we get to come back home. No more meals to eat alone; only beautiful and unforgettable memories to create with the most important people in our lives. Nothing beats the joyous feeling of coming home after a long, tiring contract. Cruise ship seafarer for 15yrs.
I hope more women will work in the merchant marine industry. Especially in the entry-level jobs in the Merchant Marine industry.
As a Navy guy back in the 70's and 80's, I only had to climb a ladder once. When we anchored out in Montevideo, Uruguay, we had a liberty launch going to and from the ship to shore. Going ashore wasn't bad but coming back late at night, the liberty boat was bobbing up and down quite a bit. I had a small camera that fell out of my pocket into the drink and I thought I was going to as well. But luckily I made it despite the fact that I had imbibed a few adult libations.
Thanks po sa mga vlogs mo atee, nagkaroon ulet ako ng lakas ng loob maging isa sa mga seafarers. God has given me an opportunity ulet na makapasa sa pmmaee, back then I was just taking it for granted... Now I realized what I been truly wanted, even if it means to be far away from home. Keep safe po.

I went to sea in 1965 as a cadet. Paying off (end of contract today I suppose) was a very joyious occassion. This is when the voyage ended and the name of the feeling of great expectation of returning home very shortly was called "The Channels". Basically because you were sailing up the English Channel to London or the North Channel into Liverpool. Excellent vblogs. Well done.

Some moments that make sailors happy:
1. Get the news that you will join the desired company after being unemployed for a long time ..
2. After boarding the ship, receiving a salary .. especially cash on board..
3. After being released from bad weather ..
4. Dock/Berthing at a port in your own country ... or at a port where there is no PSC ...
5. Get news that a replacement will come for you after the contract runs out ..
..BUT WHEN YOU WILL LEAVE YOUR SHIP OR YOUR SECOND HOUSE .. YOU WILL BE SAD.. WILL YOU GET BACK SHIP LIKE THAT OR THE SAME TEAM THAT WORKED WITH YOU ..

I’m a Singaporean expat living in New York City. Your vlog just popped up in my feed. Just a bit of trivia: the Copthorne Kings Hotel Princess Café where you had your buffet hosts one of the best authentic Penang hawker food spreads in Singapore that if you went to Penang, you would have to roam to multiple places on Penang just to find all those dishes. Whenever I return to visit my family, that's usually the first place I go with them for dinner on my first day home! Food as good as that cannot be found in New York.
Copthorne Kings Hotel’s food was extremely great plus I love the view from the balcony. Our stay was short but it was really comforting 😊 You probably miss Singapore by now.
@@JysJournal Yes. Especially during this pandemic. I normally return to Singapore a couple of times a year and I’m supposed to be back there right now but this pandemic got in the way. I miss the food most of all! Hope things are going well for you in the Philippines or on your latest contract!

Impressive video... I amazed with you. Not so many female like you tobe a seafarer. Even available, they're not sailing far away over world. In Indonesia some of seafarer are female, but they not sailing so far away,only local, but not many.And also, after they graduated from Maritime Academy,mostly of them (fimale) working at office, working for goverment, etc. Greeting from Indonesia seafarer.
