I'm so happy you enjoyed my red lentil curry (and think my videos are cute aww ☺)! And hope you'll get to try it with the serrano peppers and almond butter when your grocery store is better stocked. Thank you for sharing, Candice!

This curry is a holy grail and I can’t express enough how grateful I am for the recipe! It’s so delicious I always double the recipe so I can have extra for my family. I can never find serrano peppers sadly my grocery stores never have them, but it still tastes incredible (:

Aww thanks for the review! Just saw this pop up on my subscriptions and recognised my face haha! This recipe was for sure from my no oil days when I thought oil was the devil 😅 Highly recommend cooking it with oil instead as I do this now whenever I make it. You’re right it carries the flavour and spices better. I also love to cook it with coconut milk instead of tomato (which I also have a recipe for). Good reminder to actually change my recipe on my website to have oil for the start of the recipe! 🥰

I made the Rainbow Plant Life recipe a few days ago with cashew cream instead of coconut milk since I don’t cook with oil. It was really delicious. If you don’ t cook with oil you can add ground cashews to add healthy fat to give that extra richness too. Thanks for doing the taste test.

I think this might not be the right comparison. Two of the recipes are dals and the other is a curry. Dals, if sticking to the traditional recipe (esp red lentil dals) are soupy and not creamy. They don’t have coconut milk or nut butter or a thick creamy element. So the 2 dal recipes are supposed to be how they turned out and not creamy. The oil will definitely help the flavor come through more. The third is a curry so a better comparison would be other curry recipes

I’ve made the Rainbow Plant recipe and really liked it. More recently, I made the recipe from Yeung Man Cooking and liked it just a bit better. It was thicker and used water instead of broth. He instructs us to grind our spices from whole seed and I think that bumped up the flavor. This is probably the recipe I’ll go back to in the future.

I often cook red lentil dals too but haven't had a chance to film it yet. I also have a video on red lentil flatbread planned. The peanut butter addition is interesting. In the summer I make a beet curry from the garden and the sauce is Indian curry spices but with peanut butter and coconut milk. Those both match with beets really really well!

Hi! I'm just loving your content!! And you're a doll😍
You should get off to an Indian grocer to pick up Kashmiri red chili powder. It's not just bc it has an awesome flavour and comes in levels of heat, but the red colour of any curry comes from this kind of chili powder... Go get some 🤘🤩👍

I would’ve been surprised and disappointed if Rainbow Plant Life’s lentils didn’t win the taste test. She has the toughest critics trying her food…. her Indian parents! She has no choice but to get it right! 😂

Can you PLEASE make a Vegan version of Olive Garden's 5 cheese Ziti al forno? This use to be my favorite thing before going vegan and I've been missing it SOOO much lol
