    Update: To clear some things up... I don't work for the company anymore.
    Also, thanks a ton to everyone who gets what this is all about =)

      It's funny because it happens all the time. I don't even work at Starbucks, but I'm sure this holds true for many people who work in any kind of customer service.

    I hate when customers come get their drinks and tell me "I'm gonna be late for work now" and I want to say to them "then why the hell are you at Starbucks!! You could've been on time to work if you hadn't stopped here! Not my problem you lack time management skills"

      I call it medium or large when it is obvious that the guest is having trouble with the size differences. When I describe it as small medium and large, the line just moves so much faster.

    I remember dreading certain customers that were regulars. You'd be in the zone, pumping out drinks and then you'd see THAT PERSON walk in and you knew the next 15-30 minutes would be rough. Especially the people that would order for their entire office in the middle of the morning rush and never call ahead of time.

    Worked as a barista during college, and the 'didn't you see me writing the novel on a hot beverage cup?' comment had me rolling on the floor. That and the people who wanted things measured, like a 1/4 inch of foam or 17/43 inch of ice cubes gave me hell. The only upside was that the people in line behind these asshats usually were sympathetic and nicer than they normally would be. Thanks for laughter of truth!

    I have two solutions to reduce the ignorance of people for when they order;
    A- Have every damn person work in the food industry for a time period (mandatory) to get any job, to understand how difficult it could be.
    B- Watch this video.

    The reason it matters is because we aren't all sociopaths who don't feel emotion. Most people pick up other people's negative energy, whether they are just standing there thinking shitty thoughts to themselves or if they happen to be yelling at you. It affects our mood. Nobody likes to be bitched at, regardless of whether they're being paid for it.

    Speaking from a business perspective, a good employee is one who compliantly does his work, and puts up an approachable guise for customers. Rude, irritable employees are burdens unless they are extremely skilled and efficient. There are some unfortunate situations people can be in in which I feel absolute empathy and compassion for, but this isn't one of them. If I put myself in his shoes I would have just sucked it up.

    @lemonrind They used to have those sizes, except that people wanted ever larger coffee sizes. So they added tall, as a size larger than large. Then they added the grande, as a size larger than tall which is larger than large. Then they added the venti, and it means 20 because it's 20 ounces of coffee. Which is larger than the grande, and so on. Somewhere along this path the normal small, medium, and large sizes were discontinued, because they were sized too small for American consumption.

  • @cLOUDDEAD
    @cLOUDDEAD  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Two schools of though, for me at least.
    The situation overall is frustrating. Because I have to be fast with the transaction. People get cranky, orders might get messed up, I could get yelled at by my boss, etc. Normally I would end my shift, leave, and forget about it until I came back in the next day. It's also frustrating because I don't want to be there.
    Secondly, I've said this before on here: it's satire.

    as someone who loves mundane back and forths this is amazing. everyone's talking about the brown dog but y'know i think the white dog is just as at fault, the only reason this took so long was him going on long rants instead of just doing what the customer says, and being overly specific that she orders the EXACT right name for her drink size.
