  • In this 156th Video from Classic Car ChitChat, you will see a beautiful 1988 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign. This car is the calibre that has undergone a full Classic Car Restoration, and seen at a Classic Car Show, and a Classic Car Auction and is sought after in a Classic Car Rescue!
In today’s video you will see a beautiful 1988 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign. The Jaguar XJ is a series of mid-size/full-size luxury cars produced by British automobile manufacturer Jaguar Cars (becoming Jaguar Land Rover in 2013) from 1968 to 2019. It was produced across five basic platform generations (debuting in 1968, 1986, 1994, 2003, and 2009) with various updated derivatives of each. From 1970, it was Jaguar's flagship four-door model. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have been designed under the leadership of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder, and the model has been featured in countless media and high-profile appearances and inspired a host of competition.

In case you are keeping Track this is Video # 156 of Classic Car ChitChat Videos!
I hope my Classic Car ChitChat videos make you smile. I do them in my spare time because I truly love cars and my intentions are simply to honour the beautiful cars I get to see and to really understand the passion and love of the vehicle by the driver (or caretaker as Jay Leno would say) of the car. I also understand too that my videos perhaps lack the polish calibre of great TH-camrs like: Doug DeMuro, Scotty Kilmer, and of course my favourite Supercar Blondie. I also know that I can’t even come close the quality & finish you get from the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and the boys at Top Gear. I think they use a little fancier equipment than my little iPhone… LOL
    Mission Statement:
My Objective through creating these videos is to shine the spotlight on people who love their vehicles whether it be a car, motorcycle, or even a bicycle…. Bottom line is if it has wheels and you love it then let’s show that passion to the world!
    Equipment Used:
    Camera
    - Just an iPhone 14 Pro Max (Nothing fancy - which proves anyone can use whatever you have handy to make a video… you don’t need really expensive equipment)
    - I also use Insta 360X2 which is perhaps one of the best investments I have made and allows me to capture some really cool 360-degree views and also creates a “drone like” effect with the invisible selfie stick attachment.
Gimbal - DJI OM4 - For that ultra-smooth cinematic look. (To be honest... still not quite sure how to use it but one day I will figure it out!)
Audio - Rode Wireless GO II (I gotta be honest… this is really the biggest investment that was made… I wish there was a cheaper option but after the first couple of videos I soon realized that audio quality is important and hopefully better than the onboard mic on the iPhone!

If you have read this far, then I thank you. As always, I truly appreciate your “thumbs-up”, and by leaving your comments it demonstrates to me that I managed to get you involved and hopefully made you smile. Most importantly when you subscribe to my channel then you are truly acknowledging my effort to help share with others like you my passion and love for “all things that have wheels” and honouring the people who take care of them.
    Thank You
    Kevin

I loved this video and I can see why this car is perhaps a true masterpiece of British Engineering. My father-in-law owned one for a short time and still regrets the day he sold the car. I will be sure to show him this video. Thank you for making this and sharing.

So refreshing to find a video online with a couple of guys who love cars and none of the crappy criticisms of why one car is better than another. Keep up the great videos.

I really like this guy's passion for cars. I watched the 944 too in his collection and the Jag is another true classy car even after all these years.

@@ClassicCarChitChat Apprecaite older Jags, some of them.
Originals that are in very nice driver shape always get a thumbs up
Came close to buying one with a Chevy small block swap yrs back but under car parts seemed too pricy at the time.

I bought a 1986 sovereign 2.9 in about 98 it was an amazing car for the time and I was so proud of it.
My wife loved it we changed out of a newer 3 series bmw and they where worlds apart.
Mine had what we called the steak pie headlights which I think in UK designated it as a Sovreign.
Auto air con leather electric seats cruise leather amazing spec and so smooth to drive.
    mine was dark metalic green.
We where building a house at the time and using £120 worth of fuel a week was a stretch but was lovely to drive especially around London and on the Motorway.
We lived in the Liverpool area and remembered driving to Cornwall in it with 2 Children at the time. The weather that year was high 20s in Cornwall and we wafted along in the cool air con. Not many cars had that at the time. We briefly swapped to save money on fuel into a Citroen XM !!! In late 2001 we had a new house 4 children and a brand new Discovery 2. Jaguar days where over..

The 2.9 was great on the motorway got 25mpg was about 16 mpg round town.
I actually used the gear box in manual mode like a tip tronic quite a lot and it worked well on bendy roads. Your interior looks like a UK vanden plas spec I don't remember UK sovereigns having picnic tables, a beautiful car by the way and what's greener than keeping that on the road.

Fearnsey.. 😊 I had to smile as how family changes our ability to keep the cars we loved sometimes. I bet too when you see a video like this the memories come rushing back. I also wanted to take a moment to personally thank for taking the time to watching my videos, leaving a comment and for subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it.
My intention when creating these videos is to showcase not only the beautiful car but give the owner an opportunity to share their story, love and passion for their car. Thanks again Kevin.
