  • This is my dad, in March he will have been gone five years and I still miss him every day. This is a film my son made, and is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to who he was. An electrical engineer with several patents, farmer, gardener, innovator. He grew up farming, put himself through college, and found himself in places he could not have imagined on the farm in Lee County, Iowa. I owe him and my mother everything.
He was always experimenting, and willing to take a risk, some things worked better than others, but he was a pretty safe bet no matter how unconventional his idea might have been. As far as my mother goes, if she wasn't in full support, she was at least willing to go along, and you know, things worked out just fine. They were a good team.
He taught us to be independent and responsible, respectful and courteous, and how to laugh at ourselves.
I only hope you are lucky enough to have a father like I had.
