They did it for the bookie because they had gambling debts and the bookie has connections that wouldn't mind accidentally smashing a few feet as encouragement.

Pretty sure the name of the bad guy in the Japanese cutscene was “Great Satan”, which is a pretty good indicator of why the localized version just removed the cutscenes entirely. Saves money on actually having to localize the game too.
Japan loved simple stories. Like you need to collect candies and umbrellas.. Why? Because the literal Satan will come From THE VOID if you don't!
Yes, Nintendo of America guidelines prevented any religious stuff in games back then, because they did not want to risk the wrath of outraged religious parents.
Ah Great Satan, a much more serious threat in conparison to Mediocre Satan or even Average Satan.

WHere did they go? NOT producing games. It's an Arcade Game that is just FAR too fair. Arcade machines weren't cheap and they needed to make money. If a game is too fair, that means that the game isn't making money.
I mean you have to pay for the game itself. Then you have the electricity cost. To say nothing of probably needing to sanitize it every so often. All with only making 25 cents at a time. If a game is too fair, then that makes it's taking you FAR longer to try to make up your investment, much less turn a profit.
A game like this is better for the home market, where it would have done a lot better.

SNES Drunk narrating foreign language cutscenes is something I didn’t know I needed in life until right now.
Arcade games library is literally the place for obscure gem. You can keep looking and you will keep founding. I love arcade games and I'm so glad that you take the time to make these videos

This looks like a decent Platformer. I'm surprised it never got a home port. Probably because there was an over abundance on mascots in the 90s
Maybe it will find it’s way to a retrocade type system one day.
I imagine less "Over abundance on mascots" and more "Failed Arcade that died because it was too easy and a poor investment for Arcade Owners"

This looks like a happy cat themed Castlevania, from the level setting to the bosses. Skeleton boss, cat Dracula , Shaft.
It's more Ghost'n'Goblins mixed with Sonic The Hedgehog IMHO
Well, I could definiteny see a 10/10 conversion of this game to a snes cartridge. Honestly, if u didn't mention it was for arcade, I'd totally assume it was actually for the snes...

This seems like a fun and pretty game, and besides the color, the Magical Cat doesn't look that much like Bubsy imo. Kinda wish this were ported to home consoles, the lenient respawn fits it already. And your story summary gave me a good laugh xD thanks for a great start of my day.
One weird nitpick about the art though: does the cat look like a cyclops to anyone else? I mean, the whole body is in a 3/4 view, including his muzzle and ears, but the (quite wide) eye is in side view. The hurt animation exagerates it even more (1:28).
I like how nice the environment is and the great designs for the enemies. Yet, at the same time, the protagonist looks like the most generic character that grew out of the generic fields on the generic farm that’s in Genericville. He almost looks like he was based on some generic clip art of a cat.

Played this in the arcades back in the day, happy to see it getting some recognition lately.
I remember to have seen a cabinet of this game decades ago in a restourant here in Italy.
Sadly I never seen anybody playing it since there were two fully fledged arcades with a bunch of more popular games at a 50 meters distance each.
Oh shit, the Creed slam actually made me cough up water on my desk. Top tier, love it.
I'm going to depend on SNESDrunk for all my Japanese translations from now on.

I’ve been playing this game for years. I find it to be a hidden gem on the arcade. It’s certainly fun and replayable.
Snes wasn't widely available were I'm from, not to mention arcades, but I still got through a couple emulated games even before stumbling on your channel about a year ago. Your content is awesome! (and oddly relaxing lol)

This game looks like Sonic the hedgehog and Donkey Kong country like backgrounds. The cat boss looks like the Shadow of the Ninja skeleton boss. I also like videos that are longer than usual about bad games. That’s when you know the maters is gooood.
Bubsy has always been one of my favorite SNES games and I've been playing and collecting SNES nonstop since the 90s. I'm pretty sure the negative rep Bubsy has is from a much later game on the PS1 called Bubsy 3D.

This strikes home. First, one of the games I had on my SNES was Bubsy and I enjoyed a lot and played the shit out of it.
Second, I love CCR, Beatles, Elvis... but Creed is my favorite band of all time

Damn, didn't expect you to find this one. In some way, I see this game as one of the last of its kind similar to JJ Squawkers and Thunder Hoop of checkpoint-based arcade platformers so I find that there's some cache to that end.
Speaking of Thunder Hoop, that would probably be one for you to check out given it was arguably the game that put Gaelco on the map in Spain

I remember have played this game in an arcade here in Italy, in the middle of 1998
According to Wikipedia, Bubsy wasn't even released in Japan until 1994, so I'd say it's pretty unlikely that a Japanese arcade game released in 1993 was influenced by Bubsy's design.

I don't totally like the graphics but I'm really liking the enemy designs in it. The main cat is almost cute up close with the little bell.
Sometimes I think about games where the company only had one game that came out of nowhere and the developer was never heard from again. The only other one I can think of at the moment is "Bio-mechanical Toy".

Edit: oh I thought it was a snes game :/ Not familiar with bubsy but this looks interesting. Its neat that you cover some obscurities. I've been looking around for games where you cross lava pits, explore caves, and avoid booby traps in search of treasure etc and this seems like it would be that sorta thing.

weird ass weapons...also how odd that company chose to randomly localize the game and nothing else. I can't imagine it cost them that much to bring it over, although since the game is pretty obscure, they probably didn't make much back...honestly feels/looks like it'd be a rando genesis/MD game you find in the bargain bin.
It is so unknown that even the PCB is not that expensive on eBay.
The japanese version is quite rare and is the better one, it also has a better gameplay and adds a few more details in the backgrounds like the flying leaves in the first stage.
Looks just fine to me. I would be more than happy to play this on arcade if younger me was on road trip with my parents and they decided to stop for a burguer.

Sort of a mystery game. Cool. I bet there's a story. Like, it was developed by a single guy who was shaping up to be a star in the video game world but he mixed pop rocks with soda and died a tragic death. This is his only remaining legacy.

I love your channel and brand, but I have some feedback, mostly advice based on psychological factors. Please do fewer videos on obscure games like this, and more talking about games we are familiar with, to tug at our nostalgia strings, and to tell us if you are in our respective tribes on some game or topic or another. Psychologically, that's what we want. We want to see someone enjoying something we enjoyed, or hating something we hated. And we get riled up when we see someone hate something we love, or love something we hate. I particularly want your take on Faxanadu. If you hate it, I would get all riled up, comment heavily, and probably hate watch the video ten times, but stay subscribed. If you loved it, I would feel what's called a parasocial connection with you, and want to watch more of your videos.
But if you aren't captivated by Faxanadu's bizarre yet perfect visual design and music, I'm not sure I can help you. Don't get the pendant, it actually makes you weaker.
