I am exactly Sachin’s age and I had few friends who used to go to Achrekar Sir. One was a batter who quit quite early because he saw Sachin, Vinod, Amol play and knew he had no chance. But he insisted couple of times, that I should come to Shivaji Park and see new kid named “Sachin Tendulkar” play. And my response was the usual oh these school stars become flop later and barely manage to play Ranji. My friend responded, no this kid is different, he will probably play international cricket. I also remember one interview in a Marathi newspaper right around the time he was picked for Pakistan tour. At the time Gavaskar had just retired and India was looking for the next Gavaskar. So Sachin was asked, everyone is calling you the next Gavaskar, how do you feel about that. He replied that Sunil sir is great etc and that he would like to be known as just “Sachin Tendulkar”. The article ended with a line that said something like this, even though his voice is thin and squeaky, the confidence with which he said has me in no doubt that quarter century from now, India will be searching for the next Tendulkar!
When Sachin scored century ( 148 runs ) at Sydney Vs Australia 1992. The great Australian Neil Harvey congratulated Sachin Tendulkar . Neil Harvey was happy to be pictured with young champion Sachin . Sachin back then was the youngest ( 18 years , 236 days ) to score a Test ton in Australia. Harvey , the previous record holder ( 19 years , 121 days ) witnessed Tendulkar's hundred . Also when Sachin scored hundred( 114 runs ) in Perth - 1992 of all Australian players Merv Hughes came to congratulate Sachin Tendulkar. That was the most affectionate hand shake ever . Both photos are iconic. Merv Hughes kindness should not be forgotten.
I am from WB, similar age as Sachin's, we used play cricket in our own little field everyday, but not on the days where Sachin was batting. Every time he was batting, me amd my friends used be glued to the TV. The moment he would get out, out of frustration, we used go out and play cricket. It was that personal. Sachin couldn't score a 100 used feel like "I" couldn't do it, and felt that bad for him. No one united our country together than Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. ❤
We were chasing 315 or so against Pakistan, Sachin got out after scoring 41 (off 29 or 31) . We just left knowing we are loosing. Was first time happily surprised that once Sachin got out, we could still win.
No sportsman in the history of any game has ever carried the weight of an entire nation and come out with flying colours. There can never be any comparison of SRT with anyone. And his legacy only grows with age given the kind of players we now have
Ayaz Memon sir still remembering one of your article titled " Murali was lethal but Kumble was no less distructive ". Still enjoying to read again and again .
Sachin's parents lived in Sahitya "Sahavas" not Nivas (4:55) in Bandra East, the only reason I know is because I grew up in a "colony" that was a hop skip and jump away... But Sachin spent a lot of time living with his aunt in Shivaji park/Mahim area since it was closer to his school and to the park
Kohli's unreal peak between 2016 to 2019 is a big reason for that. He scored 36 centuries in those 4 years, that's average 9 centuries per year, that made people think that maybe Sachin wasn't that great, maybe his 100 century record is not as unbreakable as we think because the speed at which Kohli was scoring centuries, people were thinking he'll very easily score 120-130. But looking at it now, we can very clearly see why Sachin was GOAT, it was that longevity, he kept playing good for years and years without a sign of decline.

Sachin was never out of form completely, he always had those 50's and 90's even in his worst form..that's his greatness 😊

Tom alter interview was truly special, hardly anyone remember
The more I watch test cricket my respect for SRT grows

Is it good to call our own player or people a clown.
