Konstas has outscored Jaiswal, Rahul, Gill, Kohli, Jadeja, Reddy, Sundar, Khawaja, Labuschagne, Smith, Head, and Carey in this test. Sure, the shot he got out to was rank, but at the end of the day he's outscored every recognised bat except Pant and Webster in a low scoring match. I think some of the media is trying to swing the pendulum back against him a bit too hard after being the ones to blow everything out of proportion after his first innings. He has the tools, he's shown at other levels he knows how to bat, let's just give it some time before making declarative statements on his future.
exactly, and for all the criticism of konstas' shot choice there hasnt been the same noise surrounding the piss those players were playing like kohli once again dangling his bat outside 5th.
I thought Konstas would have been well served to calm down a little from the over he was ultimately dismissed. That's the only area of his game in which he could improve. Otherwise, I'm very happy with how is shaking up the opener's job. 🤗
Credit to India for making Australia work so hard for a test series victory in their own soil and the BGT after several years. To think of it that they could have dented it this time had they run with the momentum in MCG second innings goes to show the quality of cricket played by them over years. Congratulations to Australia for a hard fought victory and well deserved!!!
I thought Webster had good control across his 2 innings - 96 runs for once out, having given no chances, is impressive in a low scoring Test. Thanks once again for your efforts!
Love your work fellas - another great series. Watching your daily review shows after each days play is now routine for me. Geoff's attire seems to be getting more and more outlandish each show. How far can you push it mate - haha Barbie wtf?!?!
While i was a little sad not to see Bumrah bowl today, this is why it's called "test" cricket, right? Because it tests people to the fullest extent. India kept going to the well that is Bumrah and eventually he broke down. I don't see it as detracting from this game at all. Instead it shows that teams win test matches and series, not single players.
I don't think injuries should dictate test cricket. Forget Bumrah, the day would have been more interesting if India could have replaced Bumrah with another pacer. Australia probably would still have won, but the end would have been less anti-climactic. I am not being salty as an Indian fan. Australia won the series fair and square. I think we should allow substitutions for better competition and tactical flexibility.

Fellas, I think you have been a bit harsh on the pitch. 7 wickets fell in first session today, but most were batting errors. It was great to see bounce at the SCG. Give me this pitch over the crap pitches we have seen at the SCG for the past 5 years. Also keep in mind that Sydney has the most days lost to rain of all grounds in the world...this pitch, providing a result in 3 days, is probably perfect given the circumstances.
@@joeblack1652 I wouldn’t say it was a bad pitch. It was a bowler friendly pitch for sure, however spr9013 had a great point. A lot of the dismissals that were on this pitch were batsmen making errors. Both teams lacked discipline with the stick in hand. Just looks at Webster this match, perfect mix of aggression but able to leave the ball alone on a good length. Both teams lacked good footwork with the bat in hand and on a pitch like this no wonder it was a low scoring affair when batsmen look to hit the ball every delivery. Also I think it was best to get a result by day 3 as rain was expected to affect the last 2 days. This pitch certainly was much more interesting compared to years gone by. Watching team score 450 with ease because the pitch is dead, dry and slow is far more boring to me. Good game imo.

I think I would have bowled Reddy as an opener today. Total surprise. Could not have been worse than what we saw. Then I would have introduced the front line quicks.
The only Indians who have survived unscathed from this trip are Bumrah, who is now immortalized as a great. The other person is Jaiswal who had a solid first tour of Aus. NKR form fell off immediately after his hundred and his bowling still has a lot to be desired. But still has potential. Siraj blew hot and cold, exemplified by his perf in Sydney. Hot in 1st inns and cold in 2nd inns. Still not convinced he is 2nd pacer material. Prasidh was good in this test. Spinners were all flat. Admittedly not much for them across the series. Missed a Kuldeep. Rest of the batting side was ordinary or abysmal. KL Rahul form fell off after Gabba. Gill completely wasted his starts. Pant is clearly talented but is wrong for a number 5. He is a number 6/7 and he will always get out on ridiculous ways. Kohli and Rohit had absolute shockers of tours. Both have had what should be test career enders. It was honestly embarrassing to watch Kohli giving catching practice for 5 tests, and Rohit looking so lost. Jadeja and Sundar had a fifty each but did not perform when we needed them most. Akashdeep and Harshit are inexperienced so I will give them a pass for their hit and miss performances.
I feel like you might not be giving Konstas enough credit for his innings today Geoff. 22 off 17 is gold in a low run chase and I suspect hes been encouraged to play this way by the team
I think it would serve test cricket to allow substitutions: 1) it will prevent injuries from dictating the course of a test, which is just terrible 2) it will allow captains more tactical wiggle room, and make test cricket more interesting.
Hi guys, your analysis is always objective and unbiased . Congrats CA for reclaiming the trophy and beating a team full of arrogance in across all formats home and away. Indian players should learn how to pick players, back them for the larger objective of winning. Once again contrats Australia and Pat Cummins.
You mentioned konstas getting out doing fuck knows what when they were donating runs but I'd hazard a guess and say his batting approach probably heavily contributed to the bowlers being off their lines and lengths. Give him a chance to refine his game in Sri Lanka, you said yourself that this isn't his normal brand of cricket, he wasn't selected for this brand of cricket, so it's bit unfair after just four innings to define him as a reckless slog merchant, if that's what he is then he wouldn't have been selected at 19. I really respect Gavaskar and border… But if you picked a Mount Rushmore of cricket, all time, both Tendulkar and Warme Would be on there with Bradman And either sobers or Richards.. I think it’s time to rename the trophy, the Tendulkar Warme trophy… I am confident that both Gavaskar and border would agree… Just a thought, and maybe something that can happen in 10 years
I would keep Border as the name on the Aussie part. He kept the team going when it struggled after the really strong team they had until the mid 80's. He helped rebuild the team and helped created the culture that probably created the greatest cricket team in Australian history. And he did it whilst scoring over 11K runs at over 50. I love Warnie, he can be added on another trophy but I will not replace Border's on here.
This was good until they went all typical Melbourne journo and started throwing in AFL references and bagging out Sydney. So tiresome, even when it’s said in jest. The only thing bad about cricket season is that we have to listen to Melbourne journos talking about AFL shit. Wait, one thing worse is when they get AFL commentators to commentate on cricket. God some of them are dreadful.
England are on the up, Australia are already in decline ,especially the batting. A great series but probably Australia and India need to rebuild , end of an era for both teams. The ashes are coming home . 😉

Sundar - 5/10
Siraj - 5.5/10 - should join Virat's drama company
Bumrah - 9.5/10 - God level
Love this
You've massively underrated Jaiswal here, he enhanced his reputation (in my eyes at least)
@@eponymous7910 His crap catching cost them the 4th Test, but I would still have given him 7.
I like Kohli, but his sandpaper schtick today was maximum cope.

Won without Bumrah
and Starc
A team that relies on one player isn't a team, it's a parasite.
I really respect Gavaskar and border… But if you picked a Mount Rushmore of cricket, all time, both Tendulkar and Warme Would be on there with Bradman And either sobers or Richards.. I think it’s time to rename the trophy, the Tendulkar Warme trophy… I am confident that both Gavaskar and border would agree… Just a thought, and maybe something that can happen in 10 years
Thing is, there is already a massive stand at the MCG named after Warne, presumably for posterity. So how much recognition can one man receive?
I would keep Border as the name on the Aussie part. He kept the team going when it struggled after the really strong team they had until the mid 80's. He helped rebuild the team and helped created the culture that probably created the greatest cricket team in Australian history. And he did it whilst scoring over 11K runs at over 50. I love Warnie, he can be added on another trophy but I will not replace Border's on here.
No
This was good until they went all typical Melbourne journo and started throwing in AFL references and bagging out Sydney. So tiresome, even when it’s said in jest.
The only thing bad about cricket season is that we have to listen to Melbourne journos talking about AFL shit.
Wait, one thing worse is when they get AFL commentators to commentate on cricket. God some of them are dreadful.
Yesss! My prediction was 3-1 …. go team Cummins !!!🎉🎉🎉
@SooperToober congrats you were born in India and, now live abroad! MC! If you grew up in India, you know what monkey gait?
Great win for the Aussies, but with the ashes not far away the team is ageing. I think the ashes are finally coming home to England. 😉
Start with winning a GAME maybe
England are on the up, Australia are already in decline ,especially the batting. A great series but probably Australia and India need to rebuild , end of an era for both teams. The ashes are coming home . 😉
Marnus labuschange is the huge batsman of the era. Great batsman of the era 🐐🐐🐐
Is Jeff gay?
How is that your business, and what does it have to do with the cricket he's talking about?
@@robynmitchell9563 Oh, so it’s your business to decide what’s my business now?
Also, didn’t realize there was a ‘cricket-only’ comment rulebook , did you write it?
🇦🇺 the trophy is back where it belongs. With the best test team in the world 💪
Wait aus come to india
