Agree...those strings are to die for. PSB of the 80s is my favorite band of all time. Their great skill along with great producers created a dream of music and remixes and B-sides in the 80s. If anyone could let me know what the Emulator II string patch they used, that will be great. It seems to have high attack and release times...
Robert Sullivan yeah his is a joint mutual love with EM's version. EM's is like THE master version but I love vdublu's version equally (he even sent me the MP3 of it about 5 years ago!)
What's particularly good about this is not just the accuracy of the sounds.. but your mixing. It sounds right in line with a classic SSL 9000 mix, with the right amount of buss compression. Plus the verb and gating on the drums is just spot on. Nicely done.
@@dav1dbone I like the modern PSB too but nothing beats the classic 80's PSB and I agree...Estuary did an awesome job. I have all the extended dance remixes and B-sides of PSB that are normally even better than the originals...what a band!
Anyone that has any negative remarks on this work is just not from the real world, because MAN! it is a masterpiece redone, and you should be listed as a world famous top producer! PSB could use the talent you've got for their new records. I bow and take off my hat for you sir!

Thanks Paul. That's the point that the EII strings come in. The JX-10 is already playing a soft synth pad / electric piano sound and I guess its just one of those happing mixing moments when two sounds just seem to gel perfectly.
Nice cover :) Just an little bit of info, to get the EXACT string sound you need a PPG Wave (2.2?), an accompanying Waveterm with the sample library and put it though an eventide harmonizer. It's always thought that the strings were EII but it was confirmed on the SOS forums (by someone who worked on the record) that it actually wasn't (I believe Chris had quite a large library of sounds for the Waveterm).

Hello do you remember for a chance, the concrete e-mu disk library and/or preset or bank name that this sound superimposed to the cowbell in the beginning comes from? I have most of EMu libraries converted for my Emulator X software and actually can find sources to most of the sounds you used here, but none about the cowbell-driven special noise...? Btw, awesome production and you really really nailed it! Any midi available for a chance? Because it’s quite complicated to replicate the percussion and drums loops here... can you provide any help by means of midi dump? Thanks in advance!!
