Nice innovation, but I think they should've went bigger. If they went 24 or 32 inches, it could offer something more unique and they could maybe market it as a full sized portable workstation. Besides, $5,000 is hard to justify for a 17" screen.
The foldable display available as of now is in 2 sizes 13 inch and 17 inches for companies to make.
Holy shit I been hearing it’s expensive but $5000?? Jesus Christ
That price tag means it can never be for me. But if I could afford it, it just would be so perfect. I'm digging the 17" version for my design work. the 13" version for server management/admin tasks. So versatile.
Also, "The platform formerly known as twitter". Subtle savagery. I like it. 👏👏👏
What a fantastic product from HP, I'll be keeping my eye on this. Excellent video and review Andrew 👏 👌
At $4999 it is a Super Expensive niche product. However, I can see a business executive using this rather than the average consumer. Perhaps in time, price will start to drop. The speaker quality is not bad for a portable device. Excellent review Andrew! 👍😃
Thanks, Andrew for this review. Hope the trip to Berlin was excellent. This is a product that will filter down to other products in the HP line.
ty for video!
This would have been my next laptop but lack of high refresh rate (90hz+) and last-gen CPU hurts me. - I'm also concerned by the lack of alternative mounting options for the display. I'll keep an eye out for the next generation! Fantastic innovation.
let’s see what Surface can offer us this week….
the lack of backlight keyboard is strange
Would it be possible to compare all the foldable laptops already out, or coming out soon, in one video? I have yet to see that anywhere online, and that type of content would be truly invaluable to gadget geeks like myself. Lenovo, Asus, HP, LG are just some of the brands with foldable laptops and I'm very intrigued by the form factor. I purchased the Lenovo YogaBook 9i with the two screens since the 16" foldable was delayed. I LOVE IT! But I cannot wait to get my hands on a foldable laptop. Thanks for all the content Andrew! 🙏👍👌
Hey, Andrew! It's awesome to see you again. I love the changes that you've made to the channel's outlook and presentation dynamic 🔥🔥🔥🔥 - Kudos! This is an awesome concept that HP has come up with. Quite similar to the Asus Zenbook Fold 17 inch OLED. It would be an interesting concept to see the two compared. This Spectre comes with some impressive performance, and I love the fact that they have put in such a large battery on this. The magnetically charging pen is a really sweet touch that makes it effectively obliterate the skinny Lenovo pens that would need to be garaged in the devices in order to charge. I concur with your assessment that the cost is indeed prohibitively high - 5,000 USD minus s/h is really expensive. Keep up the awesome work, my brother, and I look forward to the full review 👏👏👏👏
Thanks Paul! Good to hear from you!
Double check that they are shipping it with the 110w charger and dongle. The Spectre 2022 you received contained a dongle, but at retail it didn't
Next they should add a 120Hz refresh rate on these type of products.
Funny how there are no videos showing people can tell the difference between 60, 90, and 120 hz refresh rates...
@@RK-um9tu yeah because TH-cam videos only support 60fps limiting the display to 60hz.
Thanks, Andrew, for this great review. I wish the keyboard would have backlight.
And yes, the price is really Hi.
No backlighted keyboard is a dealbreaker for many.
12th gen is definitely a dealbreaker!
The top bezel is needlessly wide.
In many parts of your video scrolling shows lots of judder/lag.
Give them a few generations. Price will come down.
Personally I'd wait for Lenovo's Yoga Fold! 😛
The top bezel also the full bezel around conceals all the screws to open and perform an ssd upgrade. Yes no backlit keyboard is a downside, we expect better from hp on this not a copy cat of ASUS Zenbook Fold, one good thing is that the device is slim and lighter than ASUS but still same issues.
I take back what I said as when you remove the bezels you won't see any screws. Hp had done a brilliant method of enclosure with out any screws. I was able to upgrade to 8tb Sabrent ssd. But for a 5999 euro laptop hp should have used a better ssd not SK hynix.
That's an eye watering price. Gorgeous product and concept but you might as well get the lenovo yoga book 9i since its much cheaper.
I can't even get my head around this thing. It's too innovative - but I'd love to try it out.
Interesting PC no doubt. Camera was excelkent and mics sounded good. Speaker were good. Display looked good. I wonder over time if the folding display will show any crack on the fold and how long HP will cover this. It will be interesting to see how much of a price discount HP will give on this when they run many of their sales. Innovated technology or not I do not see many people buying this at this price. If it does not sell much then this could end up being an orphan product. I guess time will tell. Great first look review.
Perhaps the most revolutionary PC I have seen in decades.
How does TH-cam behaves when you fullscreen the video and the keyboard is detached or cover half the bottom screen?
$5000 is on the hefty side of the generally hefty price tags of foldable laptops.
This is crazy. I want it 😂
Looks okay, but I prefer 2 screens to one foldable one. I'm saying that as a Yoga Book 9i owne LOL
Wut. 5K?
So its the same specs of the yoga book. But less screen resolution, double the price, no tablet mode, and a crease that will wear and break over time.
But hey you can hyper fullscreen a video onto the massive screen.
Though standing the yogabook up on its stand, putting the fullscreen thing at the top, and moving it closer will be just as high res and just as large feild of view and as a yogabook only upside you wont have to bend your neck down nearly as much.
So effectively no upsides.
But nice to see more people trying to advance folding tech.
5k for a 12th Gen foldable? What am I missing here? No thanks! Another great video, AMD!
AMD only has 10% laptop market share for a reason. No Thunderbolt and major thermal throttling
@@RK-um9tu AMD was for "Andrew Marc David!" lol.
Eh, you're missing that the thing...eh...folds?!
@mortinocano169 does it? I must have missed that in the description, lol. Either way, I'm good. I would rather have an M2 macbook Pro, iPhone Pro 15, and iPad Pro 11 for that price. Wake me up when they are using current Gen processors and smaller bezels.
Hahaha right
Pretty spectacular setup. Apple is looking less attractive with all these PC innovations. Video cam - great skin color. Sound is good.Great review Andrew!
Agreed!
The price needs to be reduced by half before I even begin considering such a foldable.
$5k must be a joke, the Lenovo yoga book 9i is $2k
In NZ this machine is $12K. While it's novel & interesting, it's not a very capable machine in terms of cpu & graphics. Plus it's missing a lot of basics like ports. If it's plugged in, you get just one port that has to be a usb headphone jack as well. I don't think it's even worth it at half the price.
I prefer the lenove execution of dual screen laptop
I have the Zenbook ASUS Fold 17, N i luv it. It fits very well with my lifestyle. However, cosmetically, its thick N heavy!! HP basically fixed everything ASUS and Lenovo didn't do on the outside. However for 5K 💸💸💸... it should have came with 32gb ram, 2TB SSD, and better Intel processor. At least i9! The i7-1250u is really underpower. When they say it's only for basic work, they were not leing. I usually have multiple browser tabs and excel spreadsheets open, and once I play multimedia in the background while working, it lags and stutters.
When's our next live? Still love so see that legion slim 7i build. I ended up going a different direction, found a great sale on the Legion 7i desktop tower with a 4080. Just waiting for it to be delivered today!
Looking like Monday. Stay tuned.
$5,000. This is supposed to be a Portable device for “on-the-go” professionals. Professionals that travel need a cell phone SIM card option.
What about water 💦 proof ?
This ting got me hard, no joke. It might be the first proper innovation in this genre since forever. But then I heard the price.
where is review about spectre 16?
If HP sends it I will review it.
You can buy a quality touch screen tablet, laptop, and desktop for less than this device😮😢😂
And a yacht!
5 thousand dollars?! lol
Crazy money... shouldn't bother
Thanks, the audio quality is quite bad, the sound is in and out....
He never turns on the audio app in Windows laptops...
This kind of innovation by HP, Lenovo and asus reminds me where Nokia was 20 years ago and where Apple is today! Apple probably following the same trajectory of Nokia 😂
People have done more with less. You will never use the tablet mode of this laptop. It will most likely get in the way and slide out when you dont want it to
12th??? Now 2023 -_-
150000
Ridiculous price 😂
Instant fl€$$ repeal
innovation? Thinkad has done this many years ago.
For sure. I went hands on with both versions of the X1 Fold and hopefully we will finally see Gen 2 soon.
This thing is way overpriced for what it is, especially with that 12th gen CPU. The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is priced much more reasonably.
The price is extremely high there is no doubt about it. But I don't think they made this to sell in quantity to be honest. I think this is more about the technology and its application to other lines down the road. As for a foldable PC, so far this is the best implementation. as for the Dual Display Yoga Book 9i, I think its is a different device in many respects.
Yeah $5k price tag for screen thats not fully 4k UHD and 16 GB ram no thanks
4K would destroy the battery so it really would not be a viable option. 32GB would have been better.
I would love this but 5000 dollars im sorry
Please someone said Dell and Lenovo products are better than HPs... How true is that??
it´s not a first of its kind. asus has already one for a while now
Which?
@@BlackCeII Zenbook 17 fold
@@bakayuseruASUS was second, ThinkPad was first
I know innovation can be expensive put 5k is just taking the piss considering how fragile foldable screens can be
£5000.00?! No thank you!
Man I don't care how cool the tech for $5000 the fact its running a year old processor, the microphone quality was awful, and a U processor is just laughable.
For this price tag, this laptop is a failure. The screen also has a problem with the curve. It is more logical to buy the Lenovo model for 1999.
looks like someone has copied your video again…
Do you have the link?
5 grand. Hahaha sounds like HP. Overpriced crap.
👎 hp, top Lenovo, super asus
