I kid you not, hyper sonic dying while super sonic just getting blown away is a wild way to explain the hopelessness for when you wouldn't be able to win with hyper.
Since loosing as hyper means that you don't have any trump-cards left to use, and you were surpassed entirely meaning you can't possibly win at all and you have nothing else to do since your full power couldn't stop them. AKA a feeling of there being no hope.
However if you loose as super, you would survive since you still have one final chance left with hyper sonic.
now, imagine there was a small chance that if you fight a hyper sonic as super sonic, that if you land a ultimate the hyper sonic would downgrade to super sonic, like hitting them off guard (for example, what shadow did to super sonic in movie 3 and what knuckles did to super eggman)
