Now THAT is a proper rock anthem! Required to be listened to EXTRA LOUD. Meant for a giant crowd with big amps. Unfortunately, it was released - in the USA- at a horrible time, after Oasis became a megaband and was accused of selling out to the masses. Nothing can change the emotion and power of the song.
OK i'm old (67) but I love this band , they remind of how I felt about beatles music .. such cool memories !! Rock on !!

I don't understand why this album is so hated. Some of my favorite songs are on it.
I think it was seen as too much of a departure at the time. Nowadays i view it as having some high peaks, this one included, but also two or three valleys. Youve certainly got half a brilliant album here.

People just got bored of them. They didn’t really change their sound that much, over the first four albums, so it kind of felt that even though the music was great, you’d heard it all before?
That’s certainly how people felt about Oasis in the early 2000s.
I agree I think it’s a great album. Put your money where your mouth is and Little James are the only low points for me (still don’t skip them though 😀) Bass on this album is proper.

An unusual lineup here, Liam on rhythm guitar, Gem on lead and Noel on bass.... Def one of their most underrated singles, a No.1 hit at the time, yet nobody seems to remember it nowadays.

Noel Gallagher wrote some great tunes during his tenure with Oasis, but to me, this one is his masterpiece. He's playing all instruments except for the drums. The song itself has trace elements of The Who, Beatles, Kinks, T-Rex, and even 70s Bowie. Oasis were a mish mash of some of the best British rock in history, and this track proves it..

DU IN yup. I think Noel had an impact for the album. Since Bonehead and Guigsy quit from Oasis, Noel has taken all of the recording of the rhythm guitar and bass in Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. So, that album is the Noel's work for entirely😂😂😂
Not really Noel's work entirely. Paul Stacey did a lot of the guitar, bass and keyboard work on the album with Noel.
Lenny Henry you must know, Paul Stacey is just an additional personel, not the Oasis' official member. Noel is also works as a producer on the album, despite Mark "Spike" Stent is work as a main producer. The impact as a producer is more bigger to make the perfect album. But I say that Paul Stacey is a badass additional personel I've ever seen😂😂
Of course i know that, i've worked with Paul Stacey before. I was simply stating that he did a lot of work with Noel on that album and played a lot of the parts on the album too. Stacey come up with some of the bass lines and guitar parts for some of the songs. He also played a fair bit of the lead guitar on Noel's solo albums, which Noel often mentions.
Joshua Kodrat not really Alan white played the drums not noel.so it isn't his work entirely

Been an Oasis fan since 94, and they never get old. Even my 5-year-old niece likes them. Just pure rock & roll.

This is oasis' best track. Noel's peak at tune-making and Liam 's so good here he sends chills down my spine. Modern-day Beatles at their best.
Gotta admit, I had never heard this oasis song before, and then was just watching the new Netflix documentary Countdown, which includes this song, and I didn’t even have to look up who the song was by, just because the way the song itself sounds, and the singers voice, I knew it was oasis lol. They just have such a distinct sound that id recognize it anywhere, even not already having heard the song before.

Giants was a very underated album. From the opening Fuckin In The Bushes (pure Hendrix) to this, to Gas Panic (trip hop) to I Can See A Liar (ACDC) and Roll it Over (Pink Floyd) it could be their most varied album and had some great textures. So different yo Be Here Now in every way, especially the production

They were and are a modern day beatles.
Liam’s vocals on SOTSOG are his best IMO. This is that perfect balance of that groany voice when it sounded good and then can still hit the high notes. It’s such a shame it was lost and gone forever on the album tour.
I like the vocals a lot on the album too but he sings with too much rasp here for my taste

A pretty underrated song by them.
My oldest brother was 14 when the music video came out and that's how he got introduced to Oasis' music. Ever since that day he has been a fan of them. He's now 34 and I'm 23. I grew up listening to them because of him and this song feels really nostalgic.
I’m probably one of the younger people (13) who actually like the older stuff. Why wasn’t I born in the 70’s or 80’s to watch the music industry thrive in all of it’s glory!

All that Beak has took its toll, When he performed at the Olympics opening ceremony with Beady Eye, his voice was fucked, but since then he was on TFI with Roger Daltry , he sounded decent.

And most of the time I was oblivious to the world around me.
Case in point. This number one.
I didn’t know Oasis hit the top with this song.
And after a further 21 years ( at the time of writing) I’d never consciously heard it before,
This is the first time I’ve heard this.
First impressions of it are they sound like a Beatles pastiche band. Throwing “Strawberry Fields” and “Magical Mystery Tour” all over it.
It’s ok. But I had other things on my mind at the time.
