    I have asked several chef restaurants in my country how to make the garlic sauce "thomyah", none of them told me about the recipe but now I learned it from you. It is very simple and easy. Thank you for your video

    Thanks for the recipe, btw, when you squeeze the juice out of the lemons, you actually have it up the wrong way, the inside of the lemon should be facing down towards the holes, the press thing presses the lemon inside out as it squeezes the juice out.

    QUICK HACK: just buy swarma spice at mid-east grocer. if you don't have a grill, use cast iron skillet preheated to highest heat. sear the beef cut on both sides. cool, and thin slice. THEN, you marinate in a bowl with swarma spice,olive oil(olive oil will tenderize too). the meat may be a bit rare as it sits in fridge but can be heated again in skillet for use.(like stirfry)

    • @ytreece
      @ytreece 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, you get the nice sear with dry meat, then the flavors of the spices. Marinades don’t really penetrate meat very far.

    Do you recommend a cheaper metal option for roasting the meat? Also, how do you recommend reheating if you make it in advance, especially so the meat doesn't dry out?

    Fr what purpose soda is added to the beef?? I mean the benefit of adding soda to beef

    • @NastassjaCanCook
      @NastassjaCanCook  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It tenderizes the meat.

    • @icitrom
      @icitrom 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Seltzer is just water and carbon-dioxide (CO2). Club Soda contains a little salt and a little soda bicarbonate (baking soda). It's the baking soda that does the meat tenderizing. I'm guessing the water is just a vehicle to carry the soda bicarbonate around all the meat. I'd think that adding a little soda bicarbonate to the spice mixture would have the same effect.

    Will give this a try as I want my Shawarma to be more authentic without buying the upright turning spit. It may give me the edge in our small business for Shawarma as most people here are using mince meat fried in a pan. Would this technique also work for chicken shawarma?

    • @NastassjaCanCook
      @NastassjaCanCook  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, absolutely. The turning spit is very expensive, plus you will need very good ventilation. This method can be done in the oven in smaller batches, so you can keep you shawarma meet freshly made all the time 😋
