when I worked the 3 to 11 shift, I planted mostly white/silver blooms and foliage in the bed along the driveway so I could get a little garden enjoyment when I got off work in the dark.

I am loving how carefree you’re planting the moon garden apart from the bloom times! This is one of my favorite channels! When I’m up at night with my 2 month old baby girl, your voice and the music sooth her back to sleep while I get to enjoy your content! Thank for keeping up the videos during these times and please keep yourself and your wonderful family healthy and safe!

I'd love to see you guys put a pond in at your new property/field! Love to see some water plants or plants that like to be around the waters edge. The Mallards from your rainy garden tour kinda inspired me to to invision that as you might get a few more "friends" to drop by on occasion!🦆🐢 But it is your yard & I know you'll do amazing things with it!😄😉🏞👩🏻‍🌾🌺🌹🌻🌼🌷🌸🌲🌳🦋

White Yarrow is a wonderful native plant to add to any garden! It attracts beneficial insects like crazy. Do not fertilize because the flowers will get way too tall and flop, she didn't really explain that. I had to learn that the hard way. It does need lots of room to spread, but is fun to share starts with gardening friends. The plant is also edible and is great in tea mixes with chamomile and mint!

I am so thankful for your early morning inspiration! It's a better pick me up than a cup of coffee! My farm is loaded with Queen Anne's Lace and Slender Mountain Mint. The Mint is always *swarming* with pollinators! I need to go dig them up and transplant them into some of my flower beds! I haven't yet because chiggers love Queen Anne's Lace. But it would be so pretty to have the lace in the back and the mint up front!

It looked like a glorious day for planting! I love seeing and hearing your thought process with how you put various plants together while considering foliage, bloom time, size and how you plant and space them. Are you planning on filling your moon garden this year, or will you divide some of the plants you put in now in a year or so? It is a large area to fill!
btw Achillea's are toughies! I had one that looked like it was dying, I cut it right back and it grew and bloomed within months!

In Denmark yarrow grows in the wild and its actually more of a weed than a flowerbed plant soo yha but if just a seed flies in to your garden here in Denmark its just a matter of few years and then it's every were in your lawn I mean I think that 30 % of my lawn is this flower but I often use it in boqes and cut flowers arrangements 😉🇩🇰🌹😊

Wild yarrow (Achillea millefolium L., common yarrow) has several medicinal uses. It can be used for fever, common cold, hay fever, absence of menstruation, dysentery, diarrhea, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal (GI) tract discomfort, and to induce sweating. Some people chew the fresh leaves to relieve toothache. Yarrow is applied to the skin to stop bleeding from hemorrhoids; for wounds; and as a sitz bath for painful, lower pelvic, cramp-like conditions in women. In combination with other herbs, yarrow is used for bloating, intestinal gas (flatulence), mild gastrointestinal (GI) cramping, and other GI complaints. In foods, the young leaves and flowers of yarrow are used in salads. It grows wild over nearly all of the continental USA.

Big difference is that breeders are focusing on sterile cultivars when creating new plants to sell. The benefit of a sterile plant is that you don't get hundreds of new babies, plus the blooms and the bract coloring lasts much longer and dry really nicely. Achillea millefolium and its early cultivars are garden thugs so it's important to research which cultivars get added to the garden. As far as I can tell though, Firefly series isn't sterile and will need to be deadheaded to avoid this problem. I found the Seduction series to be a phenomenal Achillea so far, and it claims to be sterile.

This area will be even more beautiful as it gets planted up! Have you thought about some Limelight, Bobo, or Little Lime hedges in front of the North Poles to add another solid layer of beautiful plantings? Could be stunning!

I’m so thankful for Garden Answer. Thank you for the knowledge and inspiration! A bit off topic but I’m curious to know what your thoughts are on adding used coffee grounds to the garden.

Your videos are always so inspiring to me♥️ I'm really excited to see what you guys are planning to do with the new property. I thought maybe you'd want some farm animals....couple of horses and cows? Have you thought of planting Jasmines and Gardenia plants in the moon garden?:)

Winter Jasmine is a great idea. There are varieties in white and it would be a winter-interest plant.
Edit: i take it back. The three varieties i found are zones 6, 7 & 8, so not hardy in her area (the zone 6 one might survive).

I’m loving the plants in the moon garden. I’m also liking the slower pace in which you’re planting it. And...sooo excited for the new area!😊💚

That "sand" looks like decomposed granite, DG. It's used when laying paths in gardens. I've seen it on HGTV.
