What I liked to do with my Sylvaneth is that I painted the more armour-like sections bone white, the softer sections a blood red, the vines coloured like intestines or nerves, and cut off some of the more leaf-like or branch like sections. This was because in my lore their soul-Pods were planted in an area that was previously owned by a Flesh-Eater Courts army in an attempt to rejuvenate and cleanse any corruption of the area, it worked out, but the Sylvaneth that came out looked more fleshy than others, like they were made out of meat or something as the area was absolutely packed with the corpses and meat the Flesh Eater Court left behind. In contrast to their appearance however, they are surprisingly chill guys and would be the kind of Sylvaneth that you'd be able to have a drink with.
I live in Washington state and love forests so picking to play as Sylvaneth was no contest. I never expected such a rich and wise culture as well as ancient. I'm honestly more than happy with their lore as well so they're easily my favorite race/faction in the Warhammer Universe (yes including 40k)
I combine mushroom people miniatures with my Sylvaneth, so I came up with a story of how, in desperation, my Treelord Ancient had to plant half his soulpods into a fungus grove, and it affected the Sylvaneth that came out.
My Treelord is trustful of the Wanderers (wood elves) as they have a symbiotic relationship in his Glade. He gives them shelter in exchange for the Wanderer's assistance in the defense of their Glade.
Thanks for making this video, Doug. I now have a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Sylvaneth. I have spent a lot of time in the woods and outdoors and that gave me an initial attraction to this particular faction when I got into AoS.
If they respect age and wisdom so much, I bet they got on pretty well with the duardin who became the Dispossessed. In fact, I seem to remember there were a group of duardin called the Root Kings that have been mentioned a few times in the lore (although I think they're all gone now, thanks again chaos).
I'm just really looking right now, but I am intending on making an army that can sub in with either Sylvaneth OR Khorne. I am taking the Japanese legend of the Jubokko and putting them in model form. I was intending on using Revnants as Bloodletters and a Treelord as a Bloodthirster, maybe throwing in some Soulblight Dire Wolves to act as Hounds of Khorne. However, I am also thinking that being able to play either or would be fun. I am going with a white/tan/red paint scheme in my head, in reference to the Yokai. I was also thinking if i do run them as Sylvaneth that their lore was they were tending land that was the site of many battles between multiple factions, and the blood that saturated the land made them susceptible to the influence of the Blood God. Thoughts/Ideas?
It's very interesting to see a noble house structure... The structure is really cool. I'm definitely going to be thinking on how to customize my own Wargrove... Hm, I myself am thinking they could've descended into madness in Alarielle's absence. That could be something interesting.
This was a fun series! Appreciate all your work, Doug. I’m excited to see that Sylvaneth are making their way into Warhammer Underworlds in this season two called Nightvault. As are Tzeentch guys. Any chance you’ll try that game again? Sounds like it’s just getting better
2+Tough Yeah I hear ya. Though I will say it’s pretty fun to play casually if you have a friend over or something too. I haven’t played with a dedicated group and have still gotten a lot of enjoyment out of it. Of course this limits some of the experience with regards to facing off against an opponents mysterious deck. Even so it’s a blast. Hope you can find someone to play it with!
If they're not the spirits of the elves of the old world, then who are they the spirits of? Also, wouldn't conjuring spirits back to the world of the living count as undeath? Isn't that the opposite of what life magic is supposed to be?
I really like sylvaneth but I do prefer the fully plant look. I dislike revenants having hair most of all, even if I understand they are ment to represent elves.
I do love the tree revenants. However I think it's a bit of a shame that I dont feel that they play like in the lore. Most field like 1 or 2 units of 5. Because thats the way they play best. Alsow if you want å larger unit, they are very expencive in cash. I would like to see large units of 20.

Thanks, brother. If you want to take a look at some of them, I'll send you a link to my Instragram. Just let me know.

Oh that Ancient looks awesome... No I don't need another army!
Dew it! ;)
Maybe a bit off topic but, what happened to trogg the troll king? Is he still about, or is there a new troll king.
Hmn... honestly havent heard of him at all in AOS. let me look into that

i lovely videos, can you please do some thing regarding Fimir as they are my favorite race for AOS
I'll see what I can learn about them! Forge World still hasnt updated lore on their other armies and units from 8th edition WFB :(

I agree... I wish they were sold like ardboyz for ironjawz, a big box of like 15 or so.
Did I just miss it or was there nothing on dirthu?
Getting his own video, the battletome lumps the Spirit of Durthus in with the Kurnoth hunters :)
