@TheSim1derful excellent! Happy to be here. I was pleasantly shocked to see a suggested feed that was actually filled with beauty creators I haven't heard of rather than all "shock" type content with silly thumbnails 🤣
Both! Both! Both! (Saying it like Hercules 😂) Please do the top 5 video AND affordable makeup starter kit. You’re my Rosetta Stone. I use your opinions and reviews to help me on purchases.
You must check out the new LA Girl bouncy eyeshadow palettes. Brand new 5 pan cream to powder palette. Shimmers giving moon dust a run for their money and they are cream!!!
I've been trying it for about 4 times now! It's super easy to blend and looks so good on the skin. I haven't tried the fenty but I've really been enjoying the milani for every day
The elf palette had been calling my name! Love the colors and feel like I would get a lot of use out of it. If I see it out in the wild, I will pick it up.
I bought that elf palette as soon as I saw it!! I absolutely love it. It even has a dupe for space cowboy in it. I swatched it side by side and honestly you can't tell on the eye but side by side a miniscule difference.
I love your content. You are by far my fave YTer. The HONESTY! Combined with the usefulness. So many channels I used to like are just "here are the new products and whether I like it or not!" girl, I need more than that! I also have dry starting to mature skin and find your recommendations typically suit the way I like makeup, I just scoot down in terms of cooler undertone and sometimes fairness. :) I had preordered the Pearl le glass and was so curious/excited for it, and am also finding it super meh. it took off the makeup underneath it, I have to apply it with a brush because my finger is too small and smudges around. I typically set the center of my face with powder because I wear heavy glasses and forgot to apply this first and it was an absolute disaster over powder, like comically. I had to redo my cheeks entirely. I will likely return it or declutter. But it does make me want to try other liquid/cream products. When I apply it over my base I do like the glassy effect. BUT I live on the Canadian prairies, it is SO dry, and have dry/dehydrated skin, so I love anything that makes me look dewy, radiant, or luminous because otherwise I just look sallow and sick. So I wear highlighter every day and actually like a glowy foundation. I find it easier to mattify as needed over a "healthy" looking glowy base than to wear super dry looking mattes and then do selective enlivening with glowy toppers.
Been loving the hince highlight balm! I always forget about it and when I go into my highlighter drawer and see it, I’ve been only grabbing for that one recently. So pretty
Do both videos (one to get my niece and one for me). They’ll be a lot of overlap, but maybe do on for someone under 25-30. Or one “Best Of Drug Store” for different skin types (dry, oily, combo, over 30, etc). But do make one for basic starter products to get teen girls (assuming skin is on the oily side-but make sure to point that out).
Bought the Haru Haru wonder toner due to your recommendation…love ❤it! My issue with drugstore products is not the formula but the packaging. So annoying when the plastic hinges crack and break !
It’s amazing how products work differently on each of us. Based on how you describe Ed the NYX Buttermelt Skin Tint and my own personal preference I should absolutely hate it. But don’t lol!! My 50 year old dry skin prefers more matte skin tints because I prep my skin well. The NYX one worked really well for me and I don’t know why!! I really enjoy it.
I'm really glad I bought one of the Hince sticks instead of the L'oreal. I saw the L'oreal but no one had really reviewed them yet, and I was tempted because of the price. But I really like the Hince, and I know I wouldn't like the stickiness of the other! But I am intrigued by the L'oreal lip oil.
Another milky toner to recommend that I’ve never heard anyone mention is the one from Belif - moisturizing bomb toner. It’s much thicker than the Byoma and it has a lovely light scent (and I usually hate scents in my products!) I’ve loved Belif for years.
What I’m about to say, I say with respect & love…but I need to shout this from the rooftop bc it’s been bugging me: Elf was never trying to dupe Rare Beauty…they were/are duping SAIE blushes and bronzer/contour! 😩 how can anyone not see this?! They’re dewy and not as high as a pigment at RB. They perform exactly like the SAIE ones!
I could see that! I think the formula for me is more similar to the rare beauty (ton of pigment, silky finish) but i dont care who they were trying to dupe TBH I'm just glad they did 😂
This is so helpful cause I bought the elf camo one and was eying up the Saie contour. I’ll skip it for now. But I’ll try the RB instead cause I feel like when I put the elf one on it doesn’t pack a punch to show the contour enough. I’m new to contouring.
Hmmm I disagree with this. Elf and Rare beauty are too dry and pigmented for me, but Saie is creamy and more sheer. Also RB demo is closer to 20s near ELF while Saie is 30+ so I don’t see that from a market stand point either. Just my two cents 😊
I actually think elf liquid blush and bronzer texture is somewhere between the rare beauty and the saie. I have a bunch of colors from all 3 brands and love them all at different times.
I’ve had that Haruharu Wonder milky toner in my cart for a month bc of you. I’m just waiting to finish my Tir Tir toner first then I’ll buy it. I have that L’Oréal highlighter and I love it especially if I’m only wearing spf some concealer maybe a cream blush and mascara. It’s beautiful for the price ❤
Amanda!! Your beauty videos always give me so much inspiration, I am so excited to try the Elf Camo Bronzer/Contour. I have been watching your videos since the beginning and the way your page has grown is so inspiring. I wish you lived closer to me but I fear if you did I would be totally broke from buying all of your makeup recommendations. I hope you're doing well, I think fondly of our time seeing Future Islands together
Ok not drugstore and not quite a milky toner but the Japanese brand Kikumasamune has a sake lotion (its the texture of a toner) in a big pink bottle thats a dream for hydration and has done a lot for brightening my complexion! Its only 14 bucks and if you don’t like it as a face product its beautiful under a body lotion too
REALLLLLY be aware that the Loreal Lip Oil is QUITE spicy/tingly! I’m actually debating on returning mine. She’s right, it’s VERY creamy and plush and bouncy, but ohhhhh it bites you too.
@@Silverwingz007 you’re welcome! I ended up returning mine (Walmart). They were good and understanding about the burning sensation… if they make this NON-plumping, I’m getting it.
Love the drugstore best of video idea. How about like a “top 3 from each category” from the drugstore. If there’s only like 1 or 2 for some category that would be fine! But I imagine for like blushes and lip products, it would be hard to pick just 3. ❤
Hii love your videos!! I wanna ask what you mean by skin prep with the byoma milky toner (I currently use this product as evening skin care). Are you using it over/ instead of moisturiser then straight in with the foundation, or use this, then moisturise/spf, then foundaiton?
Can you share what the closest thing you've tried to the Becca Glow Glaze stick? I was obsessed with it and still looking for a replacement recommendation. 🤔💜
I use 1 for my contour and 2 for my bronzer I have shades 1 n 2 in the elf hun just get the shade 2 it will be perfect it's not cool shade 1 has the grey 2 has a pinky to it perfect❤
Hi Amanda, I'd rather you make a video of the best of the drugstore, thanks for your recommendations, although none of those products have arrived in Chile, so I prefer to order from yesstyle. I bought the Natasha Denona I Need a Nude palette from a reseller and I couldn't be happier, it's perfect, but I had to pay double what they sell it for in the United States, so for me, nothing is affordable anymore hahahahahaha. A big hug from Chile 🌷
@AmandaZ everyone loves the hince highlight - I think I'll be trying it and the haruharu when it's time to repurchase my skincare. Question though - I don't know if I should get light or clear - I'm fair, cool-leaning olive, does the light lean warm? i like the pearl look to the light but would rather just the glass skin effect of the clear if it's going to go too warm on me? I'm torn on the elf palette. I use everyday smoky regularly, and ColourPop stone cold fox is my fave palette, but I do want a bit more beige nudes/neutrals. I wanted the tarte limited edition tartelette to go five-pan and wondering if this might have similar colors/finishes.
this might be a bit off-topic, but has anyone else noticed how often Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane comes up in video comments? i finally caved and read the book, and wow-it’s worth the buzz. it’s not just some feel-good advice; it actually gives you tools to focus your energy and make things happen. it’s subtle at first, but then you start to see how much of a difference it makes in how you approach your goals
i enjoyed the elf palette but the mattes are pretty powdery. the reason i didnt keep the palette was bc the lightest shimmer shade had barely any pigment unless you build it up 5 layers lol such a shame!!
Hi Amanda! My vote for your proposed drug store makeup video is to see your recommendations for top makeup product in every drug store category please. 🦋🧡🦋
Hi Amanda! I've been waiting to see if you tried the Elf Ethereal palette so I could figure out if the problems I'm having with it are my own or not. I just got the palette, after seeing a few great reviews of it and all of the shades are fine *except* both of the lightest shimmer ones. I literally cannot pick up any pigment from both of those. Thinking maybe I needed to press in a little harder with my finger, I did - but they are both dry and just get crumbly right in the pan. It's just so odd. Wondering if you - or anyone reading this - knows of a way to somehow get these shimmer shades "hydrated" ? (since they are just way too dry to use). I'm stumped, lol. It was brand new and sealed and every other color is performing fine. I think it's very pretty and would love to be able to use *all* the colors in it. Thanks for any advice!
mine did the same thing. i think it's just the formula. it did look nice on the eyes once I built it up 10 layers 😂 but it did get returned for that reason
@@stargrrl__ Oh wow, really? I wonder why some seem to be fine for people and others (well, you and I lol) have pans that are too hard and dry to use? I'm sad because the colors are pretty!
Ok so for the next video (and I don’t really buy drugstore makeup generally because I’m a sucker for luxury packaging as well as formulas and I am light olive and no drugstore complexion products suit my coloring really) but I watch these videos if they’re yours. So I would love to see the best drugstore products in each category. And u less you want to do a starter bag video also, you could just mention when a product would be in your starter bag. But id watch both videos
@hanamediocreI’m light neural olive and I use the maybelline fit me in the color 022 wheat. I use more for the center of my face to even the redness out. I do find that a little powder to set it helps because my tzone I oily. The only reason I don’t use it around my eyes is because my dark circles are dark and I find the my color corrector does enough. But the color is a really good match! And I feel your struggle in terms of drugstore matches for olives 😩 the search goes on!
@@Kori-Barrenger thanks for the rec! unfortunately i’m light-medium/medium warm olive. thankfully i’ve finally found a foundation match but still looking for a concealer. and i feel you with the dark circles - i cannot for the life of me conceal them even with colour corrector so i’ve kind of just given up for now haha
How would you compare the Hince to the Chanel baumes? I’m looking at the transparent option in both but I’d prefer whichever is less sticky. My hair constantly sticks to the L’Oréal highlight stick and I’m over it.
i know this isn’t the place for it, but i kept seeing Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane mentioned over and over in comments, and curiosity finally got the better of me. i read the book, and honestly, it’s one of the most practical guides to understanding manifestation i’ve ever seen. it’s not about instant results, but you can feel the difference as you apply what it teaches. seeing how people respond to me now, i totally get why it’s all over the comments.
I love "Filthy Rich" from Fine as Fleck colourwise, but I've nad too much glitter everywhere despite using glitterbase and fixing spray. It was even worse when I took it off with triple cleansing. Still had glitter all over my face. Did anyone other than me have this experience?
I really hate how brands will slap any word on a product. Like a gloss is a certain formula and a lipstick is a certain formula, that kind of thing. A lacquer is different from a watery liquid lipstick. To me it adds up to false advertising when you are expecting one thing and you get something else.
Preach, it is so fucking annoying I feel like I have to do thesis-level research to just go buy a lip gloss because it might actually be a super thin lip serum or oil
@ other thing that drives me nuts. Not everyone has perfect colored perception. But they insist on photographing things on bright white backgrounds, and then often those color descriptions are not accurate if provided at all. But that's a bit more subjective. I grab a screenshot and blow it up to remove the white so I can get a more accurate look at a swatch, and I read the three and four star reviews to see what people genuinely think of the product.
@AmandaZ re videos - both? both is good. :D No truly, I'd love your takes on a great affordable makeup starter kit, but I genuinely am one of those "must be the most efficient at everything" types so I also want to know the best of each. Then I can do my nerdy cost-benefit comparison by item and decide which things I want to splurge vs save on for myself.
The lumi foundation wasn't on my radar but I'll pass. As I said I love a glowy finish but this sounds like a hard no. I do have aging happening but find I overall don't mind a bit of texture (I'm a real human after all) compared to the way I look so sallow and sick otherwise. My skin is very dry and dehydrated, I use highlighter daily to help me look alive. I really enjoy the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream Illumination type for this sort of product, and the coverage is of course better. That said, I'll be getting the lip oil based on your recommendation - in that color! Clarins lip oil in cherry is one of my fave products (I'm literally wearing it right now lol) and a more affordable similar product would be very welcome. The cooler red makes it even better for me! (I don't want to write a novel in your comments but do want to "chat" with the community about these products so making a few comments about different items. Hope that's okay with everyone! I'm kind of new to actually commenting on YT but I think more comments looks like more engagement for your channel anyway.)
I was looking at the new L’Oréal skin tint and I’m so glad you did those close ups! Really showcases what the finish is, and I don’t think it would work on my skin. Thanks for your review!
I got totally duped by that Lumi Le Glow Tint 😞 It's so thick and shiny, not breatheable or skin-like at all, and highlights ever pore on my cheeks. Such a disappointment and waste of money.
This is helpful to know! When something is thick I know that’s not going to look good on my dry tret skin. Also it sucks it’s not a hydrating tint! I have dry skin from tret so I am prone to dry patches. I also love glowy makeup! Many said this tint looks very makeupy. I do plan to try the Nyx butter melt glaze tint tho so I hope it’s hydrating and light.
Can you apply it to the back of your hand first, and then use a brush to pick some up and add to your cheeks?? More subtle, less likely to attach heavily to pores and uneven patches on the skin
@ So, I've tried it every way I would apply a foundation, including with a brush, hoping that it would work...and I think that was actually the worst application method based on the formula. Whatever is in there that makes it shiny (metallic) settled into every pore on my cheeks and couldn't be fixed with a pore filling primer or blurring powder after.
I'd prefer a best of 'affordable' video even if it's not drugstore, thanks! x.
Would love best of the drugstore video

Ok so for the next video (and I don’t really buy drugstore makeup generally because I’m a sucker for luxury packaging as well as formulas and I am light olive and no drugstore complexion products suit my coloring really) but I watch these videos if they’re yours. So I would love to see the best drugstore products in each category. And u less you want to do a starter bag video also, you could just mention when a product would be in your starter bag. But id watch both videos
what brush are you using to put your eyeshadow on?
I fell prey to the influencers and tried the Loreal Lumi Skin Tint and your review was spot on. Maybe I'll give it to my niece.
hi amanda! what drugstore concealers do you recommend?
I'm working on some new recommendations! I have loved the maybelline fit me, and thats typically what i would reach for at the drugstore!
@@AmandaZ thanks! i'll look out for your video. it's hard finding complexion products for olive skin at the drugstore
@@Kori-Barrenger you’re so pretty btw 🫶🏼🫶🏼
Preach, it is so fucking annoying
I feel like I have to do thesis-level research to just go buy a lip gloss because it might actually be a super thin lip serum or oil
Do a best of the best makeup starter kit. That way you are ticking both boxes
I really think the L’Oréal Lumi Le Glow Tint is another CT Flawless Filter variant.
Thé sad the foundation is only beautiful from afar, cause it looks really, REALLY stunning !
@AmandaZ re videos - both? both is good. :D
No truly, I'd love your takes on a great affordable makeup starter kit, but I genuinely am one of those "must be the most efficient at everything" types so I also want to know the best of each. Then I can do my nerdy cost-benefit comparison by item and decide which things I want to splurge vs save on for myself.
You look JUST like Lydia Fleming!
Amanda, I love all your drug store and Asian beauty content.
Is the mascara tubing? Because that sounds like what happens when i go im with oil on tubing
How is the “plumping” feel on the lips?
slightly tingly- not super intense!
I was looking at the new L’Oréal skin tint and I’m so glad you did those close ups! Really showcases what the finish is, and I don’t think it would work on my skin. Thanks for your review!
Think they discontinued that milky toner
starter kit
glycerin is a sticky transparent highlighter and is cheaper
Oh thanks for sharing I’ll stay away from that
Can you apply it to the back of your hand first, and then use a brush to pick some up and add to your cheeks?? More subtle, less likely to attach heavily to pores and uneven patches on the skin
@ So, I've tried it every way I would apply a foundation, including with a brush, hoping that it would work...and I think that was actually the worst application method based on the formula. Whatever is in there that makes it shiny (metallic) settled into every pore on my cheeks and couldn't be fixed with a pore filling primer or blurring powder after.
Merit highlighter went rancid the second day I bought it!!! So angry about this... and the liquid oil also smelled bad a week later!!!
Just don’t see myself trying the Elf bronzer after how much I disliked the blush in the same packaging.
I heard the L'oreal lip oils plump with a sting. Anyone else experience that?
slight tingle! But nothing crazy
are there any good drugstore skin tints?? I’ll take answers from anyone!
The Fenty milky toner to me is the best , I wasn't that impressed with the Lenaige
I just bought the L'Oreal skin tint, I'm 36, yeah I don't think I will like it.
