You're probably the first person in a long time to touch that "Game Lands" post and hike all the way to the end of that thing! I did notice the double blaze at 5:41 and thought, Uh oh.. you missed the turn lol. But it made for a pretty cool video!
I think you are absolutely right, my friend. That game lands post is rarely seen by Appalachian trail hikers. It was fun going all the way to the end though...that said, I slept really well that night...lol
Thanks for sharing a wonderful video with us and it was great going hiking with you today. Hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy and Debbie.
Hi Sandy & Debbie. Thank you for watching as well as for your kind words. Hope you'll come hiking again with me soon 😉
That looked like a tough one scrambling along all those rocks. Really great views though! I do think its fun when trails have a bit of a rock scramble section.
Hi Sarah! oh yeah, it was challenging to say the least, but the views were definitely well worth the struggle. Thanks for watching!
Wowzers! That is quite a hike indeed! Great job Jenn! I couldn't see any blaze marks, I'd be questioning every step.. Ha!
Hi Darcy, Yeah, it was fun, and truth be told, it was actually well marked. Seems dippy ol' me was so busy chatting away that I missed the turn off blaze. If and when we ever going hiking together, you're in charge of navigation....lol
Yes! I love the views on Knifes Edge. You did a great job navigating your way on those tricky rocks Jen. Let me know when you want a tour of Bear Rocks so you don't miss any turns ;) And thanks for the shout out, you are much too kind.
Oh yeah, having you along as I explore Bear rocks would be awesome. I can always use a navigator. I get so chatty with my camera that I often stop keeping an eye out for the blazes. So, yeah, a TrailSage tour would be great, so long as you don't expect me to keep up as you casually skip along the rocks. ; )
An ankle breaker, for sure, but what a view!!!
The views are really nice on this part of the trail, but yeah, I was happy to finally get off the rocks without injury. Thanks for watching!
Sort of my backyard,,,but I almost never go up there. The top of the blue mountain is such a gnarly hike.
Hi Dee, oh yeah, it's a really cool place to go hiking. I plan on getting back there soon to explore Bear Rocks trail. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated!
Great hike and beautiful views along the way. Thanks for taking us along with you on this trail through this video. I really enjoyed watching it. New subscription
I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Thank you for subscribing!
Wow, great job! And extra points for the little "bonus" edge you did! We did that around this time of year a couple years ago, and were grateful for the views!
Hi Sue!
Thanks! I'm always up for some extra points. : ) Funny story, I actually ended up walking right past Bear Rocks without even realizing it... lol. Did you happen to hike there when you were in the area? If so, would you recommend it enough for me to plan another trip out there
@@jennsylvania1633 I didn't go up Bear Rocks. We did Knife's Edge and Bake Oven Knob in the same trip, and we were not at all interested in additional rock scrambles. 😂😂
Nice sound thanks for sharing your adventure. Guys I recommended you visit the himalayan mountains k2 and Nangaparbat view point from one place moses peak. Add this sound in your bucket list.
thank you!
I just found your channel. I am enjoying your videos.😊
Hello Heidi, I'm glad that you are enjoying my videos. Thank you so much for watching! 😁
I wonder what geological event caused that portion of Pennsylvania to create the Knife's Edge? At one point in your video while you were up the, I saw the double white blaze indicating a turn and you continued on. I thought maybe that was your plan to continue on. Such an interesting place! You are so adventurous, thanks for taking us with you on your adventures!
Hello, my friend! I'm not really sure. My guess is that it was one huge rock at one time, and over centuries of frozen ice melting and then freezing again the rocks sort of broke up. I'm glad that I went past the turn off because it was quite challenging. That said, I never saw the double blaze...I sort of get chatty with my camera and forget to focus on where I'm going...lol...oh well, all part of the adventure!
Thank you for the comment...your support of my channel is very much appreciated.
@@jennsylvania1633 That is a logical explanation of what is happening up there. Water and Ice are a powerful force in nature. I like your channel as you are so inquisitive about exploring the nature beauty that surrounds you in Pennsylvania. Daniel
@@amerphoto1 Thanks, Daniel!
@@jennsylvania1633 That's exactly what makes that AT section as gnarly as it is. The last glaciers approached just north of there and freeze thaw cycles created that rocky ridge.
Are you in Maine?? Cause the "Knife's Edge" is a trail on Mt. Ketadin.
no, this is Pennsylvania on the Appalachian trail. It's called the Knife's edge vista. I'm thinking the one in Maine is more spectacular.
@@jennsylvania1633 6:44 Lichens is correct. The olive green/brown stuff is called rock tripe, which is extremely slippery when it is hydrated and wet.
Does that stone signage say "Schuylkill"?
I just went back and watched it again. It looks like SCHYL Co - you may be right. SCHYL is probably an abbreviation for Schuylkill. Mystery solved! Thank you, Jane!
Tho
That is a county line marker for Schuylkill County. They are there to delineate county boundaries along that ridge. I.E. Berks and Schuylkill, Schuylkill and Lehigh, etc.
