The closed City Hall Loop station on the East Side IRT is completely faced in Gustavino tiles. It was supposed to be the flagship station of the Interborough Rapid Transit Company. It is like no other station in the system. It is really a magnificent sight.
This should be reopened. Not only is this a part of the great history of NYC. It would solve many of the problems getting from one part of the subway to the other. Heck there's connections though a longer walk from the PA tp times square. All connecting both sets of line. Do like they did at the oculus at WTC there's a long corridor going from there to the foley station also. Hopefully with the lease up at MSG there will be interest in making the smart changes needed for the station.
@@andrewriccardella8768 exactly what though. The JC Penny that was where Gimbles used to be in the basement is closed Permanently The Archway on the 33rd side is still there and has been shown. There's no areas that couldn't be reconfigured if needed. If there was a push by the city and state all these issues could be resolved. Heck you even had the hotel that sits on top of this asked the city and state if they would like to have this opened again. They balked at it.
