I watched this video 3 times before catching your reaction, and have to say: The Soojin reference you see- I am not hating it at all. You are convincing me! Their use of red, the mole, the undertone of burlesque, the criticizing headlines in the newspapers ('woman who is sexy' , 'she is a troublemaker' , 'such a wasteful woman'). 2.5 years until their contract is up~ I am praying they come back with a long-awaited 6th member then. Soyeon's ability to clap-back is unparalleled. If I had to venture a theory, I would say 'Nude' means they are not hiding anything.

Two of Shuhua's parts here starts out sounding like another member but the beginning of her lines in each part either shows the member that she sounds like but then the camera cuts to her and shows that it's actually Shuhua singing, or it references another member and then shows that it's Shuhua. In the first part she sounds very similar to Yuqi and in the second part she sounds SO SIMILAR to Minnie doing the "uhhh ohhhhh" voice. In the first scene, the cut starts off with Yuqi and Shuhua actually sounds very similar to Yuqi but then it cuts to Shuhua to show that it's actually her singing. In the second scene she does Minnie's "uhhh ohhhhh" voice so you think it might be Minnie singing, but nope, it cuts to Shuhua.

Shuhua's been my bias since they debuted. Cupid's arrow hit me the moment I saw her on my screen, and whilst I have some K-POP celebrity crushes no one has hit me as hard as Shuhua has. Now imagine how I feel when I saw the MV. I've been having a hard time breathing this entire day. She took my breath away, I cannot help it. And when I got to the parts where you talked about the cartoon character's identity, it made me want to share a comment I wrote elsewhere a few days ago since I can relate to how you're feeling there 😢 ___________________________________________________________________ I just shared this fun off the wall theory with a friend yesterday. What if there is that slight possibility that they have this underlying plan to ease the fanbase and underlying culture into an overall theme that they're all about being unabashedly themselves and controversial over time...in order to make it more acceptable to get Soojin back (!)? I know, I know...I'm very likely saying this as someone who just became a gidle fan 2 months ago while the Soojin grieving process is still fresh in my mind, but hear me out. Soyeon's explanation of this theme months ago essentially comes down to a metaphor of how they're exposing their true selves despite how the public and the world around them wants to see them. In this current video [the teaser where they were being interviewed with the upper body shots], some of the members appear to be expecting anything from criticisms to backlash and how they're not necessarily a model/representative for society. They're expecting to be judged for being themselves and may even be wrongly judged, but will still show strength that they're still themselves strengths and flaws and all. I feel that this idea parallels very well with how Soojin was judged by the world regardless of whether there were any merits to the allegations against her or not while her arm tattoo has a message about unconditionally loving oneself (which includes being comfortable with ourselves despite the way society would judge us, and the humility to acknowledge our own flaws which in turn leads to us wanting to become a better person). And if there is any merit to my idea here, we can say that it would follow the trajectory of how Tomboy was their first step to being more unabashedly themselves with the whole theme of defying expectations, authority, and gender roles. But in all, it's a really silly and long shot theory as I'm sure that it wouldn't add up logistically from a business standpoint. tl;dr fun summary: Plan to get Soojin back - Step 1: f*ck the rules! Step 2: get naked! Step 3: having Soojin back doesn't seem like as big of a deal anymore!
