Hey. Any word yet on Zino 2 ship date? Mine hasnt shipped out yet, that’s why I ask. Also, when are extra batteries for it going to be available for sale? I would figure that they would want to have them in the pre-sale, that way they could drum up quick sales with extra batteries.
The Badboy Live New ship date is next week but please be patient because it is Hubsan delaying it. This is still a app testing delay according to them.
Batteries and few other accessories will be around the same time they say.
@@MeltWithU I pre-ordered the ZINO 2 with 2 batt on dec 19th and they tell me another 10-15 days before they even start shipping so going to be awhile
@@mgflyer8066 I think I preordered mine around the same day. I originally had a pro ordered and saw that this was coming out as soon as it was, so I decided to just preorder the 2, as I wasn't going to pass up the 4K / 60 and HDR, plus the extended distance and longer battery life. Especially at the price. Because the pro was nearly as much. I'm glad I looked into it before I got the pro. Though it would be nice if we had a more concrete ETA. I'm really not in any hurry, though I would love to be flying it now.
Like I said before here, I wish to God they would put up the batteries for sale separately so I could order a couple of them to ship and arrive with the Drone.
1st time flyer, and took your advice and purchased this charger , very happy with my zino pro , and the balance charger, thanks for this video, it makes it really simple to use, ...honestly I don't think I would have ever figured it out. Thanks again
Glad things are working out and that I was able to help. Congratulations 👍🏻
Haven't been flying the old Zino Pro in quite some time but this video certainly helped me to check the batteries before flying today. Into RC Boats now and use drone to film them. Thanks for all your excellent informative videos.
Thank you 😊
First off, I want to thank you for this video for helping me get back to flying my Zino Pro. I ruined 4 good batteries by fully charging them with the charger that came with the pro and then sitting them on the shelf for months. So I got an Imax charger and the special wire for charging the pro batteries AND a new battery.
Using your video, I was able to charge the new battery and check it. I was one of those folks whose Pro took off and then fell out of the sky....only 6 ft, so it passed that drop test.
NOWWWWWWWWWWW my question is: I don't fly my Zino every day....I may not fly it for weeks. I hear, if I am to not fly for a while I should discharge the battery to a specific level and it will be OK to leave it for a while. Howz about if I only flew once every two weeks? You see what I am getting at.
Again, thanks for getting me off the ground again. I love the Imax B6 Thanks to those who commented too. If it is OK, I would like to thank Captain Drone for leading me in your direction. ChiefVic Cedar Creek Texas
Bottom line What should I charge the Pro Battery to and what should I discharge it to for storage?
@@JackTheBearTexas charge them if you know your going to actually use them. If you put them away for weeks at a time or whatever just go with anything between say 25% to 70% 👍🏻
@@QCGUY Soooooooooo if the battery is an 11.4 V 50% discharged would be 5.7 or 1.9 V per cell Thanks again ChiefVic
i took your advise, got the charger, and so glad you posted the how to vid, makes it very easy to operate. thanks
Third time watching, but this time I've got my new IMAX B6AC V2 BALANCE CHARGER setup with a battery and can follow along. ;-)
Oh, and it even had a scratch off bar code on the back that, after scanning it in on my mobile, it informed me that I've got the original from SKYRC. :-)
Thanks for the super video.
Thanks for the video i was worried about the resistance of the middle cell until i watched this informative video.
Just ordered a new IMAX Charger. Thank you, I'm sure you saved my batteries and possibly a Zino Pro.
Hi Just got a Imax B6 AC v2 I only have the original cable that came with the Zino, but it appears to be the thicker one. I have it set on LiHV Balance CHG 3.0A 11.4V (35) When I press start I get a "CONNECT ERROR CHECK MAIN PORT" The battery is new. Thanks for you wonderful video Vic
Do you have the balance cable with banana plugs like I shower?
@@QCGUY Haaaaaaaaaaaa after looking at a dozen videos, I realized everything I needed was not in the IMAX box. Then there were a dozen showing me how to make a cable that would work with my Zino Pro Batts. Finally found where I could purchase the 3S JST- XH Charge & Balance Cable on Ebay and Amazon. What a slog to fly this drone. I am wondering if I should not have a drone LOL Thanks for YOUR video. When I get the cable, I will reference it many times, I am sure. Vic

Thanks guys for all your help I am back flying my Pro
Hi Chris
Thanks for all your Zeno vids, they're super helpful to get a deeper insight into what's going on "under the hood".
I've been flying my Zeno (version 1) occasionally for over two years now and since the "battery error" message started popping up lately I decided to purchase an IMAX B6 v2 charger to see if it can resolve this issue.
I have to state at this point that I've never done any updates to the existing firmware, following the code "if it works, don't touch it" simply because the quad was behaving like a well-trained nun.
However, I can't seem to be able to get rid of the battery-related messages and strange percentage readings within the app.
I just recently updated the app to version 2.0 but it doesn't seem to make any difference (except for occasional cut out in the video stream).
Now, the two original batteries I received with the kit show really good values when connected to the IMAX charger. The voltage variation across all three cells stays within 0.01 - 0.02 volts. However the "battery error" pops up after every take of now.
Could you perhaps suggest something else I can try?
My second question is related to the IMAX charger.
When I set it to STORAGE mode, it targets the voltage to 3.92v per cell. I remember reading in the comments here that the ideal storage voltage would be something like 3.7 - 3.8v.
Should I do this manually via the "discharge" mod?
BTW
has anybody noticed that the Attitude indicator within the app has reversed roll/bank axis?
Thanks again
Jay
I don’t use storage on the imax. I deplete them in the drone and have always just made sure they are somewhere between 25 and 75 percent. It’s always been fine that way and I have some pretty old batteries still kicking.
Your problem sounds like the connectors on the quad that make contact with the battery may be wearing down and causing drop readings which also has caused problems with people having total power loss while in flight. You know the end result of that I’m sure.
I trust the readings of that charger and as long as it remains pretty close if checking throughout the charging process I would look at the power connector board.
Better know how to solder because it’s 16 wires. I have replaced a good many of these for people in your situation.
I had no idea you could put a fully charged battery into storage mode. I always flew them down to about 30 % or put them on discharge then storage, bye the way I am using a v2 clone but so far so good. Thank you sir, you da man
I have not purchased a Zino pro as yet..But since wanting to be prepared, I purchased the B6 V2 AC DC batt charger.
Since I am still using several lipo 1S (one cell) batteries 3.7 volts some 2800 mAh and some 1800 mAh all have 2C written on them. The manual with the box is way too hard to read...so I went to web site and printed out the large PDF and put it in a 3 ring binder... I even used the USB port and installed the Windows version of the charge program on my computer. The unit comes with the banana plugs...and one adapter that has a single jst connector that will charge the 1 cell lipo 3.7 v batteries...
Up to now, I have had to use the USB plug in charger wires that come with the 3.7 volt batteries, to use on the toy drones.
I hate to admit that at 81 and having been an Advanced Ham operator...been working with medical electronics all my life... the new B6 V2 charger is very frustrating and the manual is not much better than explaining how to program a rubics cube. So, would appreciate a few more videos.... How to totally reset your charger to get rid of memories you might have put in when testing and learning.
Then for some of us ...produce a video on how to SAFELY charge a 1S one cell battery LIPO and what safe settings should be used.... 1A chg or 2 A charge? how do we know what is safe? It took me a half day of frustration to finally get the Lipo charge system 3.7 volts to agree to charge 1S instead of 2S finally it just showed up.. Then, I cannot find a way to set the battery to charge at the max of 1800 mAh then change over and know that the next battery will charge at 2800 mAh.
The computer app through Windows did seem simpler...but it still is not convincing all the settings are in safe mode.
Perhaps on one of the new videos you can take a 1S and and a common Zino pro batt and another of different count cells and make a how to set up and save a program for each..
Well....luckily...so far....I have succeeded in getting one of the one cell batt to charge..with out blowing up... but looking at the figures...I am still un easy. And thanks for all the other videos you do... they are great help in getting started in this hobby.
I need this charger! Very informative videos on your channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

HEY Chris this really help's me because i'm a ZINO virgin and I have the Z-2 on pre order and I see the new update on the pro is suppose to let you know when you have a bad battery I HOPE it has the same thing on the new app for the Z-2 (GREAT VID AS ALWAYS)
I wish I’d had started watching your videos from the get go. I recently experienced a catastrophic battery failure 30 seconds into flight. Unfortunately I was using Hubsan’s battery charger so who knows what damage that charger did. I was draining the batteries down before storing but didn’t invest in a better charger/balancer. Since the drone will not even power up now, I’m faced with unknown damage (other than one motor that is visually physically damaged) to the insides of the drone after its 75 meter free fall. I’ve checked into sending it back to Hubsan because I’ve had it for 10 months and it has a one year warranty. But I don’t have much confidence in sending the drone to China and ever getting it back. What is your charge to inspect/troubleshoot the damage? I’d love to get this thing repaired even if I end up getting a better drone to replace it. It really produced excellent video footage for the price.
I personally wouldn’t send it to them if they even take it. They won’t honor a warranty but you can try. My minimum is $60 but the rest depends on what it needs?
Usually they are cheap fixes.
@@QCGUY send me your info and I’ll get it to you. I’m sure I’d pay at least $60 shipping it to China and back, so let’s see what the damage is

Just rewatched this video to refresh my old brain cells, good info
Refreshers are good 👍🏻
Thank you Chris, I have been eagerly awaiting this tutorial. Getting the B6AC on 1/15 now, so BG tells me...
The A3 battery has fuse resistors in the BM circuits, so the cell I.R. values are not correctly displayed, and you should ignore their absolute values. You might still be able to pick up a trend over time if you see them changing. If you open the pack, you can get to the balance connector and hook that up directly to the charger for a better I.R. measurement.
Thanks for your time. Really appreciate.
Hi Chris. You are my mentor when it comes to drones. I know everything about Zino from your videos and posts. I have imax b6ac no imax b6ac V2 and I don't have the same options as you. Is this a sign that it's not an original charger? I mean options how much is missing to full charge or resistance.
ky lu You most likely have a earlier version. Could be a clone but scanning the code on the back will tell you that.
A word on clone B6 chargers. Before I knew about them I got one because it was $10 cheaper and looked like the same thing. 3 distroyed (swollen) CX-20 batteries later I found a real charger. All three puffy batteries showed way overcharged. Spend the extra few dollars folks. Not foolproof, but look for the hologram.
Thanks for the video Chris. I’ve got a HTRC Duo charger (touch screen version) I bought a while back. Hopefully this method will work with that charger and the cable that you sent me the link to.
Hey yeah. The zino pro is great. It's fairly reliable.
I really really really need this charger in my life Chris..................really really really I do!
Excellent... I flew the Pro the other day and got that high drain battery warning. It stayed on the whole flight but after 8min of flight it was still 50%... If you did what you recommend... maybe the 1.1.52 is still a better FW.
Gorilla Man It’s definitely still the best but now they implemented those update your firmware prompts. Everyone that doesn’t know the history will update right away because of this. I keep one on 1.1.52 and am leaving it....
@@QCGUY : You dont have the original FW files that came with the ZinoPro? I forgot to write them down and since I changed, I have been having focus issues. The Zino just keeps on keeping on... I just ignore the update warning and the BAttery stuff and just keep an eye on how fast it goes down myself. Their math must be out a bit.
Hi Chris, another great tutorial. Pardon my ignorance but what's considered a normal reading on the 3,000mAh and the 4200mAh battery?
4.35V per cell.
@@QCGUY Thank you my friend!
Great job. Only thing I’d say is don’t throw away the original charger in case you sell or gift the quad to someone. Is there an affiliate link for the charger you’re using?

I made 2 charging cable from a balance extension cables by soldering the hot and neg cables to it. I checked to make sure the wires are hot and neg with a meter. But when I try to charge my zino battery's they will charge up to bout 75% and then I get a battery disconnected warning. I can unplug and re-plug all the wires but the charger will not charge any further. It just gives me the disconnected warning. Any Idea what is wrong? I was balance charging at 1.1. I noticed your charging at 3. Only thing I have been able to do with the charger is put the battery's in storage. I have a charger like the one you use here but it is a different brand. It is a LiHV charger. I also have a bigger Hitec charger but I haven't tried them on that one yet. I was hoping the smaller charger would work so I can bring it with me on motorcycle rides. Any help is appreciated. BTW these are new battery's, I just got the Zino Pro with 2 batts.
Never mind. I tried with the Hitec charger and it works fine. Sending the other charger back.
Thanks Chris for making so many very informative videos. I have been flying RC planes for several years. New to drones so i am unfamiliar with all aspects of drones. I just bought a cheap drone to learn how to fly them, a lot different from flying planes.
I noticed in this video your charger was set on LIHV setting. I have a hyperion balance charger. It doesn't have that setting on it. Settings are LiFeP04, LiPolymer, NiCd/NiMH, Lead acid. Most are 1s- 6s. Will one of these settings work on zino batteries.
FlyBuy777 You can charge at the regular lipo mode but you will get just a little less out of the battery. Not anything critical 👍
Hi Chris.
I got the IMAX charger today and start charging.. I followed your instructions and did it accordingly. But I noticed that the amp does not stay on 3.0a.. it drops to 2 and even 1 and 0.6a.. and the v goes up to 13.02v is that normal?
The battery cells are 4.35 4.31 4.35 is that good?

Yes and you can set it. I haven’t had to use it in a while as all these quads are doing ell with their smart batteries. Normally I never need storage mode anyhow. My batteries are always at least 25%.

Hello, I'm from Brazil, lately I bought a Drone, hubsan zino h117s and when he arrived I used it about 3x, but then he started flying very little, and I land it with 30% and 5 minutes he flew, and he’s also going down the batter very fast when he reaches 30% if he doesn’t land soon, he goes down but the percentage is still fast… anyway, it’s not normal, right?
No, Hubsan keeps playing with the battery meter and parameters in the firmware where they should just stop and give up because they are screwing it up. If you have multiple batteries doing this chalk it up to their brilliant engineers but if it is just one battery it can be a few things like the battery itself or poor soldering inside creating a dead short which I have found on a few occasions.
@@QCGUY Hello, it's me again with some doubts ... Today I made the adaptation of Hubsan Zino on Imax b6 v2. so far so good, when I put the drone to take off, I stayed 5 minutes in the air and landed at 35% percent, so I put it to charge the battery of the hubsan zino and when I put it it gave 78% in the imax b6 v2.
I'm thinking of getting one. Just wondering why you can't just plug the battery cable directly into the 4 pin socket on the side?
In short you need the the two for power supply and then the 4 to balance the cells.
@@QCGUY oh ok. Thanks for that. I use the stock charger and it can take 5 hours to charge a battery.
@@rexxx777 Yeah those aren’t real balance or true balance chargers. They take much longer because they don’t have the power leads working a process or stage that makes a smart charger smart. The stock chargers can often overcharge and damage the batteries.
A smart charger is working to balance each cell from the start of a charger and maintaining that throughout the entire charge by adding power where needed and taking it from areas that are too high and off balance.
I do a bad job at explaining this so let me grab you a link of a very smart and talented gentleman. Be right back 👍🏻

Great charger!! i really want 1 like this
Why charge at 3.0A? That deteriates the battery more does it not?
Miller Ingram It hurts nothing to use 3.0 amps but the cable is thin and will heat up. I don’t think I said to charge at that rate though.
3000mah batteries can do 3.0amps
2700mah batteries do 2.7 amps
With these thin cables 2.0 is safe.

Chris, can we assume the battery connection will be the same as the zino/Pro battery? I want to set myself up with a balance charger and get the extra leads needed (I don't think I could manage to make them myself 😂)
Colin Aitken they are exactly the same. I might make up balance leads to sell. It’s not hard but time is a factor.
Reminds me of the very first video I commented on your channel, then I subscribed:) The spark comment:) 3:43 in this video top pin sparked when you connected it again. hehe. Anyways happy new year QC & I need one of them balance leads:( I have had the same IMAX B6 charger since I got the Zino but I've never been able to use it, Still using the one that came with it. I live in the UK do you know where or how I can get one for my Zino? Great vid!
PC-Gamerz-UK Do you know how or have the ability to make one?☝️
@@QCGUY I could make one with the correct parts and tools I guess :) Just don't have either of them:(
PC-Gamerz-UK You have a heat gun or lighter? I have a video where that’s the only tool you really need.
Check my first pinned comment. 👍
Can you pls help me understand the voltage, the charger says 11.4v and the label on the battery says 11.4v. How can you measure over 4v/cell? If 4.35/cell is full charge is way over 11.4v, what am I missing?
Post this in my group with pictures of your readings and question there. facebook.com/groups/HubsanQC
I just received 2 brand new Zino batteries. And I have a HTRC B6 V2 charger that came with a 3rd hand Zino I just purchased. I am new to this. Haven't got to fly it yet. So with this charger if I read the display correctly I can charge one of 2 ways. One says balance charge. And the other just says charge. Are they one in the same? If not is one better than the other? I'm charging these batteries for the first time. Apologize for all the questions . Please help this newbie....
Always balance charge these batteries. You can only straight charge a smart battery effectively but they don't require hobby chargers like these because they are smart batteries. The IQ of the zino batteries qualifies it as stupid. lol
Well I shouldn't have listened to someone in one of the Facebook Zino groups. He said I could charge these LIPO batteries on Lihv. Little did I know that is Lipo high voltage . I plugged each one in one at a time. The display beeped at me and said disconnect battery. So I changed the charger back to lipo and plugged it back in thinking I could discharge it and it would be ok. NOPE. AGAIN IT SAID disconnect battery. So I guess I fried one of my brand new batteries.
Cory Vines These batteries can be done as lipo or lihv but you lose a very minor amount of flight time charging as lipo.
Either way balance charge is a must and no more then 2.0 or 2.5 amps tops. Higher and the cable will heat up and be a bigger problem.
@@QCGUY I've been balance charging them at 1.5 amps. So with the only reading coming from the charger saying disconnect battery . Are they fried? Because it won't even let me check the voltage in each cell .
@@dalejrfan88intexas I never had mine display that message. have checked to see what each cell level is on the battery?
Hi Chris. I need this charger. Thanks for all information and for the link. I' m looking for this ORIGINAL CHARGER for some months
Thank you for your post !!! Nice vídeo !!!
At roughly 6 minutes in, what values are you checking? I can't see the screen. I know it's not resistance.
Sorry, each individual cell level and behavior.
One last question, where do I get this thicker cable?
No reply. I ordered one from Hubsan. I hope it will be the thicker cable
Sorry, some comments slip through the cracks but it was easy enough for you to figure out thankfully. 👍
@@QCGUY yes sir.
I noticed on these chargers there is a max capacity shut off set to 8000mah. Should I set this to 4000mah for these zino batteries?
RobbyMaQ No, when you set it for your type of battery it knows what to do from there.
Hi Chris, is there available in the market any balance cable for ZINO 2 battery in order to use it with imax B6 V2 charger?

@@QCGUY Chris, this is a 3S cable for standard Zino & Zino Pro. Are you aware also for a similar 4S balance cable for Zino 2?
i accidently bought V2 imax, i need instruction on charging Zino pro Gifi batteries with it, do u have one? thanks man.

Sorry, my mistake it was imax V1 it has such plug using on this video.
Дрон нисгэгч but no LiHV mode
@@QCGUY Thank you sir, so can i use this imax V1 on charging zino pro battery?
Дрон нисгэгч Yes in lipo mode with a few minutes less flight time.
Hello Chris, hope everything is doing well for you. One question. I have recently got a balance-charger and I started to use it and it works well, basically, I purchased it because all you said in your video happened to me and from 3 batteries I had, two are dead now.
My question is, battery label says LiPo Battery, and there is an option on the balance-charger for them, but you charge them using LiHv… what is the difference between both charging modes?
Thanks!
You can cahrge as both but it is a LiHV and the only difference is LiPo will be a small decrease in flight time.
@@QCGUY Thank you very much Chris!
And why are you using the LiHV sort to charge?
Miller Ingram 11.4 is Li-Hv despite the battery saying Lipo.
Lipo will charge to 11.1
We want zino 2 review!
Hello Chris I just bought the newer version of this charger my question is I have a Evo coming and do I need to make my own cable to hook up to the charger or do they sell them somewhere Thanks Steve
PL Tuna I would have to see the cable and chargers at that one comes with but I imagine you do not need to worry about it. They are known for quality smart batteries and decent chargers.
Hi Chris,
I'm using this charger for a few months now and I like it very much. I am really amazed however about the the large discrepancy between the percentages shown by the app (I flew my Zino to a 12% battery level yesterday). After I connected it to the charger to put it in storage mode it showed me like 55-60% instead of the 12% as shown while flying. I can understand a difference of like 10/15%, but a 40-50% difference is a lot in my opinion!
Do you know how is this possible?
Hubsan has been messing around with the battery meter for several updates now and it’s gotten ridiculous to the point you can’t go by it as fact or trust it.
@@QCGUY Thanks for your quick response Chris. Yes this is really ridiculous.
Thats good info, I really like learned a lot on that one, thanks. Is that a new intro? Very cool
CC Thanks...intro isn’t new. I need to make up some more though.
QC Guy..... Do you have a link where you purchased the upgraded Hubsan cable?
Marc Betts It comes with the newer models. That’s how I got mine.
@@QCGUY Understand. I received my Zino pro last week, so for all intense and purposes, I should have the newer cable, correct?
Marc Betts Yes 👍
Still check to see if it gets too warm during charging though.
I have this charger when i select LiHV balance mode my voltages are at 4.3 4.35 4.3 is that too high?
No you are right on target
My Imax B6 does not have the LiHV option, how can I do to have it?
Osvaldir Schmidt Junior You need the V2
What would I do without you? Thanks!
Could you show how you made your cable? Thx

when i charge my ZINO batteries above 0.8 amps the batteries are getting very hot and because i use battery temperature unit always cutoff the charging - if i dont use battery temperature unit then one of the battery cells drops to 3,30 volts and stop charging any more - all these using original IMAX B6
Same on multiple batteries or just one battery. Sounds like a bad battery..,.
@@QCGUY same on all original ZINO batteries - i have 3 - all of them same problem when i decide to charge them over 0.8 amps
@@YanisFafis do you have another balance lead you can use between the battery and charger?
@@YanisFafis your going to get less of a charger using the original imax without lihv mode but we’re only talking 2 minutes difference tops so I think I would look at another balance lead to test out.
@@QCGUY yes i have 3 - 1 original came with ZINO and 2 more others from different buyers - i try all those - same problem - i try my GIF with them and GIFI charges without issues even at 2 amps - i didnt try more amps
@QC GUY, now i load my Gefi battery for zino h117s with the Program, "LiHV Balance @ 2,5A - 12.9 V (3S)" is it correct?

Hi! I have a zino and can I adapt the original charging cable to charge and balance the imax b6?
Look at my video section. I have 3 videos on how to do this different ways for different skill levels.
Larry N, I just bought this charger in US from Cyclone FPV.com and its completely different plugins requirements that you show in your video. I can send you pics. I need to use your expertise to make cables and connectors that will work. Please advise. I thinks this is a new model that everyone is selling now. Thanks a bunch. Larry N (I have new Zino Pro)

Chris, is there any differences in using the newer batteries by GiFi 4200mah?
Miller Ingram Yes more flight time. Charging is the same and so far they are very reliable.
Do we know what kind of batteries we are getting with Zino 2?
The Badboy Live Yes...I’ll address them once they arrive.
Do will have to do the same with zino 2 batteries?
rata peña Too be continued....
Can you do a video on the lead you made?

can we do this process for the zino mini pro battery?
You can do it with most batteries if they have the room inside the cover. The zino battery board fails easily and won’t charge or work so I don’t mess with them.
I'm sorry im new to this, i just ordered that exact same charger as my original zino didn't work... cant u just plug the zino cable directly to the imax and charge? Do you need to make those mod cables?
Charismatic LG You can make one or now they are producing them.
