I still prefer the now legends reason for why a lightsaber colour was the way it was. The crystal colour being an indicator of the wielders philosophy and view on the force and related topics. Bleeding is a fun idea but to me it just seems like someone venting to their crystal and it getting sad
Do you mean the really old 'color depends on who's holding it at a given moment' explanation, or the 'color comes from the owner meditating with it' explanation?
@@shadowslayer205 Second, you meditate with the crystal and it's colour changes to match you until someone else takes it from you and does the same thing I guess. Or maybe you and your crystal share a special bond because it's a rare one

Each Jedi imbues their force power into a kyber crystal as part of the process of building their lightsaber, it brings them in tune and bonds them with their weapon, their understanding and view of the force is what dictates what the color of the crystal looks like after.
@@BespinGuard1 i mean that's basically what the "canon" explanation is except for the part where the crystal can attune with a second wielder.
Is there really such a significant difference between a dark sider meditating with a crystal and changing its color and a dark sider bleeding a crystal by focusing on it?

In Legends , the crystal did not power the blade , it focused the energy beam that became the plasma blade . The sabers were rechargeable battery powered .
See but like scientifically that doesn’t make sense, this is one of the few things I felt Disney got right, cause a lightsaber is not out of the realm of possibility in real life, it’s a plasma blade surrounded by a magnetically charged field, in real life we’d need a battery essentially the size of an SUV to achieve anything close to that, so the kyber crystal needing to be infused with the force so it can power the lightsaber makes SO MUCH sense
@@Chicano_pistolero Blasters that fire plasma bolts powered by a battery back are also not possible in real life. Nor are hyperdrives. Or most of the other technology in Star Wars. But this isn't a "hard" sci-fi story where detailed explanations of the tech is needed. All that's really required as an explanation is "their technology is far beyond ours, so they can do things we can't". So long as there's internal consistency to what a piece of technology can and can't do, a space opera like Star Wars doesn't need to go into detail.
That said, I *do* like the idea that it takes a special kind of crystal to make lightsaber instead of being able to do it with just anything. For one thing, it nicely explains why lightsabers are so rare outside the Jedi Order, even in pre-Empire times when you didn't have to worry about being put on a government hit list for owning one. If making a lightsaber was something easy, you'd expect criminals all over the galaxy to carry them (or short-bladed "lightdaggers'), since it'd be a combination of easily concealable weapon (since the blade disappears when you turn it off) and breaking and entering tool (since it can cut through damn near anything).

My personal speculation on why this Jedi wielded a red bladed lightsaber is to offset the stigma of red bladed lightsabers strictly being associated with The Sith

i think there once was a padawan in a book series about anakins padawan days with obi wan (its called jedi quest in german version) who also used a red lightsabre. It could be book #3 (that one with the pandemic virus) where the masters and padawans got seperated by battle droids and the one padawan who anakin strongly dislikes takes out his sabre and its red.
It was kinda strange because i never heard of a jedi with a red sword before (didnt know about master galia at this time...) :)

Yet Mace also had a fighting style that revolved around just *barely* avoiding the dark side. For the vast majority of Jedi, his style was too dangerous (to themselves, not their opponents) to even contemplate using. And Mace *created* that style, rather than learning it from other Jedi. It seems like the *reason* Mace was such a conservative Jedi is that his inner rage required intense discipline to suppress.
So in cannon can you bleed your crystal but still be a jedi kinda like saying your lightsaber shares your pain but it dosnt define you?

Trying to differentiate crimson from red sounds weird... for they are pretty much synonyms. I guess scarlet sabers are also somewhat different. How many emerald blades are there, or syphyr ones? Amethyst?

Isn't crimson darker than normal red? So if Vader had a crimson lightsaber, how does that signify that he still has the light side in him?
Because his original lightsaber color was blue. Mix red and a small amount and I mean a very small amount of blue and you get crimson. Like barely any blue.
@@youknow9092 I do have a question. Vader stole his lightsaber that he has now. He lost his blue blade to Obi. The crystal from the one he stole it from was green not blue. If we are mixing Krystal colors green and red do not make crimson. Are we talking blue in a more figurative way?
@@arwinaBlu_Kat according to canon he stole Kirak Infil'a after killing the master and bled that crystal corrupting it to make the crimson blade. However according to canon he later had to build his own hilt after the one he stole from Kirak Infil'a was shattered however he used the same Kyber crystal inside the new hilt.
The color of the crystal is determined from the users force energy. Turning the crystal red comes from pouring your hate and anger into it. If you are 100% corrupted the blade will be red. Vaders was crimson hinting he had some light still hidden inside him.
Vaders original blade color was blue set by his force energy. That was corrupted by the sith but not 100% so when he bonded with the crystal from Kirak Infil'a saber it reflected his energy and not the fallen masters.

@@popinyoyo in canon all Kyber crystals are white until they bond with the user which dictates their color.
Ashoka took the 6th Brothers crystals and healed them white. So with that its not hard to grasp that if a dark side user takes a Jedi’s crystal and bleeds it, the color changes to a color based on their connection to the force. Meaning Vaders is crimson because he bled it turning it red but he had some of his connection to the light still which darkened the blade slightly due to his original force color being blue. So his blade became crimson not red.
I don't think the orange lightsaber proves they were formerly Jedi Sentinels, but I believe it shows they are at least a new type of dark sider

The idea I had about lightsaber color (besides the Sith who bend the crystal to their will and “bleed” it, or Ahsoka “purifying” the kyber crystal from the inquisitor’s weapon to white) in canon is that it is similar to the sorting hat in Harry Potter. In my mind it was similar to the sorting hat because the crystal calls out to the Jedi and then they bond with it even before the lightsaber is created and the saber is the color that the crystal is. Then there are overlying categories of what the various lightsaber colors mean.

Those lightsabers in Ashoka are not Orange red, they’re orange. There’s no red in them.
Orange is a composite colour you get from mixing yellow and red. If those sabres had no red in them, they'd be yellow.

There's an important bit of Expanded Universe/Legends Lore worth mentioning: Adegan Crystals.
Hyper-abundant on the worlds of the Adegan system (of which the planet Ilum was one) was the main source for Adegan Crystals, which would later be found in small quantities on other worlds. Adegan Crystals were most abundant in blue & green but many other colors as well. Where it really gets interesting, is that the Blue & Green Adegans can be easily attuned with the Light Side of the Force, attuning a Red Adegan was most difficult with the Light Side, but super-easy with the Dark Side.
So, in RPG terms, Adi Gallia, Light Side Force Alignment, could use the Dark Side to attune a Red Adegan Crystal without 'turning' Dark but would gain a Dark Side Point in the RPG's system.
Darth Revan & Reborn Revan, could have easily done this to have a Red Lightsaber.
Dantari Crystals, found on Dantooine (KotOR I & II), are both similar & dissimilar to Adegan Crystals, as a Red Dantari Crystal was as easy to use as any other, regardless of the Player Character's Force Alignment.
Fun Fact: Adegan Crystals & Kyber Crystals are both considered 'Ilum Crystals' because initially Ilum was the only known source for them & the name stuck long after both were found on other worlds.

Under my point of view, a true Jedi knight shouldn't use a red nor black lightsaber.
Isn't a one way street reading what is only now considered fan fiction? The expanded universe was written off by the creator of the saga. For me is somewhat far-fetched most of the time. I guess that is why it was erased from canon.

There's too much content all together to really have one perfectly, true chronological storyline for the series. It's all Star Wars and it all has it's own unique contribution to the entirety of the lore.
Yes, there is alot of Str Wars material out there. My concern with things under the stewardship of Ms. Kathleen Kennedy is that she has turned it into a political forum for FEMINISM! It is just supposed to be a story and to let people switch off and enjoy.

in my fan fiction, my character bled his kiber crystal by freak accident. the idea is that he has a midichlorian count on par with Skywalker's and Palpatine's, making him another candidate for the role of the chosen one. this makes him powerful enough that, when angry, can bleed his kiber crystal without directly holding it. he inflicted the pain through the hilt.
Didnt she only have red and other jedi cause the writers or whatever of those comics didnt know jedi can't have that color? Same with dark jedi instead of red they were givin normal colors , and im not talking about lore like just cause there dark jedi dosent mean they need red i mean they only gave them normal colors cause they thought Sith and Jedi can have any color.

It never seemed red to me. Its clearly a magenta color like in Jedi Fallen order. Theres even a toy I remember one of my friends had where she had a clearly dark pink and not red saber.
